Every time my husband and I go to Big 5, no matter who is working the gun counter(were we have bought several guns) they are always rude. I told my husband today, we are done buying here.

Wanna know where to go where employees will actually NOT ignore you and continue talking to each other, or stop stacking boxes to answer a question, or even ask if you’re looking for something in particular? Not at this store!!! Another customer even pointed out that I needed assistance and that employee(the one that had been gossiping the entire time I was standing, waiting for her to stop talking so I could ask her a question) bypassed me and asked him if he’s like some help. I left the store having never received the attention of even one employee. I was even dressed in sports gear, not a homeless person. Middle aged women of Paso, try going into this store and see if anyone will acknowledge your presence. Talk about invisible!

It appears as if every time I walk into this Big 5, I see a ton of angry faces and cold shoulders. If you want to look for something, you better be a good navigator or know exactly what you want. These people are are not going to help you. At least they tend to have what I want at a fair price, so I guess they got that going for them.

The good: Convenient location, plenty of free parking, usually well-stocked and reasonable prices. The not-so-good: don’t expect much help when you go in this place. It’s usually a self-service situation because 90% of the time the employees are standing around, chatting or behind the counter. Rarely does anyone approach and ask, «May I help you?» Unfortunately there’s no other large sporting goods store in town so Big 5 has a monopoly on kids’ sports stuff – soccer, baseball, football, etc. I DREAD going in there when kids’ sport seasons start. And if you have to buy shoes, good luck because it will take forever to find anyone to help you. It would be easier and quicker if they just let customers go in the back stockroom themselves.

HORRIBLE customer service. Came in for some ammo and the salesperson, who was also a manager, ignored all of our requests for help. I’ll spend my money elsewhere

The staff here is very friendly, plus the prices are fairly competitive. The Paso Robles store seems newer than the Atascadero one, but booth have money saving coupons you can sign up for via email. Don’t forget to check the in-store specials and clearance section. They also sell ammo and firearms, however their prices are generally much more expensive than Wal Mart, unless you hit a sale.
