I’m sorry, Chinese buffets are *supposed* to be questionable in nature. That’s part of the gig. Buffet style eating is for the fat nights you’ve totally given up but refuse to sink to McDonalds levels. If you wanted anything better, you’d go to a sit-down-order-from-a-menu Chinese place. This place is totally fine. It’s clean. Staff is attentive. The dishes are consistent. They refill constantly. It’s everything a Chinese buffet should be, right down to the terrible plucked Pipa soundtrack.

I love the fresh veggies, and great service. I love the shrimp and sushi. I noticed kids had that swirl ice cream, but I loved the food so much, I didn’t eat dessert. I noticed the place seats 188. That place is Huge!

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant. Their lunch specials used to be my favorite, but they did away with them. The only way you can order off a menu, is if you want to take it to go. If you ask, you can also get the buffet to go, which is what we usually do. They give you a styrofoam container and you pay by the weight. The food is fabulous and they have a HUGE selection.

I have to update my review. I thought I had. We went here around Sept2014. I got so sick after we ate here, we barely made it down spring before I was puking my guts out. Seriously JUSTGOTOPANDA. There is no goo Chinese food in this county. I may have to try China gourmet but I’m reluctant to spend 30 – 40 bucks on a bad meal. Eh.

It was ok but a little pricey. We went in not all that hungry and that was our mistake. Next time I go here would be when I am really hungry and want a ton of food.

Lots of variety, but prices here have sky rocketed over the years, and quality has not followed suit. The waiters are not nearly as attentive when it comes to refilling waters, and removing dirty plates. I, myself did not try any of the meat items, but my husband did and said many were chewy, and at one point he bit into a deep fried piece of fat. The dessert selection is not nearly as impressive as it used to be. Overall, the best buffet in North County, but still could use improvements!

Staff was pleasant but the food was absolutely terrible! I went here once in 2009 and didnt like it at all. People in town seem to like this place so I thought I would give it a try again. The food was soo bland, I tried to use soy sauce to give it more flavor but the soy sauce was watered down. My husband ate but didnt enjoy his meal. I didnt end up eating and asked them to remove my «buffet» from the bill. I was thankful they did.

It’s a buffet folks, not a cloth napkin restaurant. Having said that, I think it’s great compared to other buffets in SLO County. Food is fresh and tasty — price is fair. I think that some of the negative reviews have been posted by those with unrealistic expectations. If you are prepared to spend a little more $, I heartily recommend Mandarin Gourmet at LOVR and Madonna, but I can’t knock Dragon Palace for what they’re doing.

Every city, even small ones, has at least one Chinese buffet just like Dragon Palace King Buffet in Paso. I’ve been in several times, and it’s consistent. Took my granddaughter yesterday, she liked it a lot. The sushi rolls are ok, the variety is pretty good, and there’s a salad bar and soft serve too. I’ll be back.

Other than one of the ladies with kind of a rude personality it was enjoyable. The food wat hot and pretty fresh. The hot tea was good and we were seated fast on a Friday. I should come again if I was in the area.

Mediocre in all areas. If you want world class Chinese food, this isn’t it. It’s not terrible, but it’s not good, just like the service, ambiance, etc. it’s relatively inexpensive, but you are getting what you pay for. A average, to lower than average experience for me.

Im a hungry pregnant lady and After eating here I feel bad that my unborn child was exposed to this terrible, and probably health code-failing food. I gave this place a shot and things look okay at first glance, but upon ingesting I realized that every dish was disgusting! Egg rolls were mush, I couldn’t eat any chicken because it was all gristle and the waitstaff was terrible. I’ve had a stomach ache for 24 hours after eating there. Avoid this place.

Sometimes you get that craving for greasy, cheapy, fakie Chinese. This place will satisfy. They have an entire section comprised of deep fried stuff, then half of the other stuff has battered n fried components, too. Have I had real Chinese food? I’ve been around the SGV, I know enough. You cannot find real Chinese food around here, but this place rocks if you want meat candy and corn starch.

We eat here often, usually on a weekday. As always, big selection of good food. I must agree with another review that food is hottest and most fresh at peak mealtimes. The orange chicken is always tasty and one of our favorites. I like the scallops. Veggies such as beans and brocolli are never over cooked but fresh and crisp. Today a new dish… deep fried shrimp. Yum! Service is always good. Plates, etc, picked up as soon as you set them to the side. They also give us a discount because we are seniors. Not sure why as we don’t eat any less!

If you are looking for outstanding Chinese cuisine– go some place else. If you are looking for decent food offered at a decent price with decent flavor this is it. The buffet is well appointed and if you go during a peak meal time it’s well stocked and fresh. The waitstaff that we have dealt with– Shon and Albert are always friendly and make sure my water glass is never empty for long. Our favorite things here are the hot wings, the fried fish and the steamed salmon. I know, I know– hot wings aren’t Chinese. But you take yum where ever you can get it! The fact that they are all you can eat is just golden! The fried fish and salmon are, I cant describe it. I generally hate fish but this is one of 2 places I crave it from. I like wasabi with my sushi and theirs is a little runny for my taste. But they make up for it with soft serv.

Three stars were reduced to two simply due to the excessive amounts of MSG, a disappointment that could have been averted since good recipes don’t need MSG. Although my allergy is slight, the symptoms were definite almost immediately, thus signaling a high use. Overall the food was a bit above average for a buffet but some items had dried out by the time we arrived. Shallower trays and continuous rotation would easily solve that, but the foods were tasty and well presented. They have a very large selection and although the salad is simply head lettuce, there are many other choices at the station. Sushi is available as well as a very good selection of deserts. Not quite sure if the soft serve was ice cream, ice milk or frozen yogurt as neither of us could tell, but good none the less! If I didn’t have the slight allergy, I would definitely return. Good value here!

I was sorely disappointed by the state of this buffet. Most of the hot dishes were either fried in a thick batter or covered in a gloopy sauce. I kept thinking that everything was very starchy. There was even a dish that looked like eggplant in garlic sauce, but turned out to be potato in sauce. There were some stirfry dishes that contained broccoli, but the broccoli was very tough and hard. It was hardly cooked and was mostly stem anyway. There is literally an entire section of just deep fried items, yet my favorite item of the entire buffet was the deep fried fish strips. I liked the chow mein too, but it was so greasy. They had an egg omlette was was tasty, also smothered in a thick gray sauce similar to gravy. The steamed fish was a healthy option, but the fish was very tough and overcooked. There was also deep fried crab balls, which deceptively had a crab claw sticking out, but was just cheap crab paste and not crab meat inside. There were also a few styles of sushi: imitation crab meat maki, california roll, and shrimp nigiri. The soups were not bad. They had a egg drop soup and a spicy and sour soup. They also have a counter full of desserts, but mostly cakes and cookies. They did not look that appetizing. The cakes and brownies look housemade, but I wonder if the cookies are just store-bought. The tea was just a tea bag and we were not even given teacups, but a plastic cup which is probably not heathly for drinking hot liquids in. The soft serve was good and was very happy there was a lot of fruit. They had strawberries, cantalope, and honeydew.
