Such a fun and unexpected stop! The proprietorDonald is a hoot and kept us entertained with great conversation and stories! The 2013 Quarry and his reserve Cab went home with us to continue the fun at home! Great find!

Stacked Stone Cellars is so wonderful! I’m a local photographer and had a beautiful young couple interested in taking some bridal portraits after their ceremony at this gorgeous location. The staff here were so generous and accommodating and I couldn’t be happier with how the shots turned out! Thank you for your hospitality! :)

Don, also known as Walking Eagle was an absolute pleasure to «shoot» the breeze with. Wonderful Zinfandel and you must try the LPR, this is a story in itself.

A very entertaining time with the proprietor. He was in a jolly mood… and we really should have bought a bottle of his Gem red wine. Really good. Just an excuse to go back again! He doesn’t outsource his grapes, which is nice to know.

Great wine tasting experience. My husband and I spent the night here in our motorhome and had a great time sampling Don’s wines.(The winery is part of the Harvest Host program.) He is a great story teller and host. Thanks for a wonderful experience. We enjoyed meeting Maddy and the three dogs that call the winery home as well.

This was such a special experience! Don, the wine maker/owner was an experience on his own! Not only does he make amazing wine, he also cooks, farms, ferments vegetables and tells amazing jokes. It doesn’t only feel like a wine tasting, it feel like an interesting afternoon with a renaissance man! I highly recommend everyone finding time to stop by this hidden gem… You will be thrilled you did!

Had a great time. I loved the wine. Bought a case. Felt no pressure to buy anything. My best«tasting» experience ever. He is also a «Harvest Host» for any of you RV’ers. Plus, super close to downtown. Don’s restaurant recommendation was a hit. «The Odyssey»,. Great food and the place to go if you are casually dressed. All and all, couldn’t be better.

We stopped here on our way to our Air B & B host and the wine was great. We enjoyed the Zin Rhone Blend and thought their wines we great. Donald was a hoot and his dogs and cat were oh so welcoming. We’ll be back next time we’re up here for sure.

We joined the wine club in 2011 as we thought we would enjoy the events and going out to the small winery in the fall. After three years, we never received any wine but kept getting billed and then told the wine was sold out that We had already paid for. We have sent emails, gone to the winery, and talked to the owner to cancel and get a refund for the 3 shipments. This has been ongoing since March 2013 and in July 2014 we were billed again. They have very poor business practices and customer service. Too many great wineries to have to deal with this.

Three to drink: Gem, Quarry, and Zin. The Gem is drinkable even for those you who only drink whites! And what an incredible Zen! Lucky greeted us and lead us to the wine tasting room where we enjoyed lots of laughs and good ol’ conversation. Don’t forget to meet Donald, Posh, Puck et al. All extremely friendly :-)

Stacked Stone is hands down one of our absolute Paso Robles favorites. Big, bold and beautiful… an art form for sure. And Don? Well, he is an experience unto himself. We adore this place and all that it offers. Best wine club around too!

Posh the cat was there to greet us right along side Donald when we got there. Very friendly down to earth place. The scenery was beautiful and the winers were fantastic. Definitely one of my favorite places of the day!

Yummy wines with body and Sass! Don crafts delicious wines that are both rich and special. This is worth driving to and is the first stop on the Peachy Canyon Wine trail. Why aren’t you here drinking with me?

We love wine. We mostly know what we like when we taste it and have determined we love rhone varietals and aren’t too fond of anything sangiovese-based(e.g. Chianti). So, we end up liking rich, robust, oaky wines and that’s usually in a syrah. We found SS on our way somewhere else. The oak trees were gorgeous and the location was hard to pass up. We had the pleasure of meeting Don. We were impressed. The wines were everything we loved. We got our first wine club shipment today(a great deal, btw) and just made the realization that most are about 16% alcohol. Is this the magic? I doubt it. All our palettes are different. But, you can’t go wrong with the service so give it a shot. (originally written on 11/16/2013).

Small winery owned by an interesting guy. Cost to worth it rating: 3($ 25 – 30 bottles, $ 5 tasting refundable with purchase) Return worthiness: maybe Highlights: — Friendly guy: lives on the premises and was conversational — Garage tasting: informal, cooler temperature spot — Wines: I liked them and bought 2 of the 3. One was a half zin half syrah blend — Grounds: quaint with barrels around and rocky — Tasting fee: less than others at $ 5 Lowlights: — Limited to 3 wines to taste since it’s a smaller operation Liked the intimate comfortable tasting experience and would consider returning.

What a great experience we had at Stacked Stone Cellars. The owner/winemaker is a hoot and his wines are good to boot. We got there on a Thursday, a day we later learned they’re not open for tasting. But the jolly fellow who runs the place let us in anyway. He entertained us and poured us some of his delicious nectar. Everything this guy makes is top notch. If you want that small winery experience go there. But go on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

Stacked Stone was our last stop on our wine trolley adventure, and it was a perfect addition! The wines were excellent, the grounds were beautiful, and Donald was a great host! We left with 2 bottles, and can’t wait to open them!

One of the better Paso tasting experiences I’ve had in many trips. So friendly and helpful. Great dedication to the small lot and natural production.
