This company was started by a couple of seminary students at Gordon-​Conwell (in the 1970’s) who were trying to supply their friends and classmates with books, and then became quite a business. I think that was the Hendrickson brothers and their little business became CBD and also Hendrickson Publishers.
In any case, I’ve gone to their sales and events and gotten various things from them for oh, 15 or so years. Since the mid– to late– 1990’s. Yes, the Warehouse sales are a bit crazy — they only happen something like 6 times a year, and people bus from all over New England and arrive even before the crack of dawn. I had a few friends in seminary who lined up at 4am. I think they used to give out coffee to people who lined up in the morning. It is a bit of a zoo. A polite zoo. But a lot of people.
It caters to primarily an Evangelical clientele. You can get books ranging from children’s Bibles to technical commentaries on the books of the Bible to Christian music CDs to study guides to various other things. They usually have a section of discounted Bibles (usually a misprint on the cover or some other slight damage).
You can also order online and they have excellent and competitive prices. For their niche, they usually beat
. They certainly beat the Gordon-​Conwell Seminary Bookstore in terms of prices and I would get the books for classes at CBD. They do offer an option to pick up at the warehouse sale if you order before the sale. I’ve done that a few times. They also offer discounts if you buy say large quantities (e.g., your small group/​Bible study orders 10 study guides) or if you’re part of a church or Christian organization.
I haven’t bothered with any other Christian bookstore in the New England area as CBD just can’t be beat. If it’s Christian, they probably have it. And at a pretty darn good price.

Great!!! They have ton’s of stuff: dvd’s, music, books, gift items. The list goes on and on. I discovered CBD when I was in college at APU, so, this company has been around for quite some time. For some reasons, it’s getting harder to find Christian book stores these day. Problem solved… CBD has pretty much anything and everything that you’d need. Happy shopping!

Besides pricing that can’t be beat, they have a great customer service call center (@ (800) CHRISTIAN) which helps facilitate just *which* version of a fiction or nonfiction book you are looking for. Great help with selecting Bibles, and what kind of Bible to get (study, devotional, children’s, gift, etc.) in every English language version you could hope for. Their Internet site
facilitates information dissemination to the buyer and aids in the customer service experience. You can even try out large print fonts when selecting a Bible and order the desired font size accordingly! Amazing what technology can do.
Yes, they have books on tape, er, CD or whatever the newest technology is these days. I know, this is the age of ebooks, and I don’t even have a Kindle yet.
For those who are old fashioned in their shopping, they snail mail out their regular catalog to their customers. It comes out every month or so. Always good to look at when in a downtime situation like in a waiting room. And again, they are available anytime via the Internet.
Every time I order, it is flawless in its execution. The pricing invoice and what I’m charged is right, and the shipment is what I ordered in the time I expected it. I often order via standard shipping (US Postal Service) and I find the order usually comes in several days before the two week deadline for shipping is over. My latest order came in one calendar week’s time. So if you order on a Friday, you’ll get it the following Friday. Good to know. Also, if you order around $ 50 worth of merchandise, shipping is typically free. So consider that in your ordering.
Great people, great selection great execution, great product.. . that’s CBD! I always am glad to recommend them to anyone, especially my friends. Who needs that other online Internet book company when CBD does it just as competently and for less money item for item in many cases? Now you know!
