Seriously? Walked in with my husband on Wednesday afternoon in January. We were ready to spend some $$$ on a birthday gift for my niece. Unfortunately, the salespeople were too busy gossiping amongst themselves to ever offer up a «hello» when we walked in. We were the only customers !!! What a missed opportunity for them. We ended up at the local jeweler in Salem(where we live) and were treated like a customer should be treated. Never again will we visit that establishment.

The team here was super helpful and came through with a holiday miracle! I had proposed to my girlfriend on Saturday with her grandmother’s 61 year old ring. Sadly the ring needed to be resized, we were sure there was no way we’d get it resized in time for Xmas since the ring band was somewhat complex and too small. The jewelers here got it done it just 3 days!!! They knew it was an engagement ring and that we were traveling for the holidays in one week. It’s the details that make the difference and I’ll be sure to shop again at Descenza.

Long story short on why not to use Descenzas in any capacity. Their service is Terrible. You wait for months for things to be fixed, the same problem keeps occurring year after year. They tell you it’s not their fault. Were supposed to do appraisals 3 times and never did. You get better customer service from the soup Nazi. Save yourself money and more importantly, aggravation and find another jeweler. This review is for both Peabody as well as Boston.

My fiancé wanted me to be part of the Search for our engagement ring because as he said it, «I am the one who is going to wear it for the rest of my life». We went to several jewelers including Tiffany. We were close to buy a ring twice at Tiffanys but every time we went there, the ring was on hold at some other store and they wouldn’t bring it to Boston at least we wrote a check for the full amount, which was pretty much like paying for a new car without driving it first. We finally decided to visit other stores in the area and I can not express in words how wonderful our experience was at De Scenza. Mike Molloy helped us to pick the ring and we couldn’t be happier with the service we got.(Nothing compared with the costumer service that we got at their competitors across the street, Longs, who pretty much ignored us for 30 minutes and then sent over the store manager who was the rudest sales person i have ever met in my life). Mike took his time to show us the differences between all the good quality stones he had and at the end, he even expedited the order and we got our ring sooner than expected. We ended up with a bigger and better quality stone than what we were going to buy at Tiffanys and the experience was great. We are planning to buy our wedding bands there and will recommend Mike to all our friends.

OK, I am two years behind on reviews. I actually feel ashamed because I’ve been traveling and have also relocated. I have a totally new lifestyle which has exposed me to so many great new places. I’ll try to catch up on reviews over the winter months. That said, does anyone know where Jennifer Jones went after leaving DeScenza’s in Peabody? My fiancé surprised me with the most gorgeous oval diamond with side sapphire engagement ring while in the Bahamas last February. Jennifer worked with him to design the perfect ring.(My birthstone being diamond with his birthstones of sapphire *hugging* me) I adore my ring and want to take care of it. Last month I went into the Peabody store for the first time and she no longer works there. There was an older foreign speaking lady who was very chic and nice who helped me with a baby gift purchase. I went over to the diamond counter to look at men’s wedding bands(to see if I saw anything more exciting than what we’re getting from Tiffany’s) and the 30ish woman behind the counter ignored me. I had to ask for assistance and all she said was that my ring would need a custom wedding band because of the setting. No problem as I expected a custom wedding ring to be made but when I asked her to check my engagement ring you’d think I was bothering her! All she said is «One prong looks loose but the diamond won’t fall out.» No cleaning, short answers with everything. I’m very turned off after this experience. I would have given DeScenza’s 5 stars because I love my engagement ring but the miserable broad with the attitude definitely left me with a bitter taste. It is almost time for the wedding rings and I’m considering having mine made elsewhere. I think I’ll try one more time and see if I get someone who is passionate about helping. If someone can hook us back up with Jennifer it would be appreciated!

My Fiancé(!) went to DeScenza’s for my engagement ring. He said they were unbelievably helpful. He worked a lot with Michelle Grey and also with Tyler DeScenza(in the Boston branch). He wanted it specially designed and used a diamond of my mothers in the center. They were able to complete it in a week! No other place could have done this for him– especially such high quality work. The ring is STUNNING! After our engagement I went back to the store with him to get it sized down a bit and– they were incredibly kind and prompt. I can’t say enough about this place!

My fiancé and I returned to DeScenza in Peabody yesterday and waited for LauraLee to help us. I finally narrowed down my choices for wedding bands and LauraLee was so accommodating. Since my finger is on the smaller side and I wanted a different metal for one of the rings, she needs to check on prices for two of my three finalists. She took down my information and promised to call early in the week. In the meantime, she had my ring cleaned again and checked the prongs. My ring looks shinier than ever and I am so glad my fiancé had me visit this location. They are definitely more helpful than the Boston location and the store is bright and welcoming, not the typical stuffiness of a high-end jewelry store. I would recommend this location to anybody in search of an engagement ring, wedding band, or other special jewelry. They also carry mantle clocks, compasses, pens, porcelain ware, and much much more!

Nice place; BUT… BECAREFUL: when having a repair sent out… try to get a quote… my wife’s ‘2 year old’ Jeff Cooper platinum engagement ring cost over $ 400.00 to repair a prong … ouch… They do not provide free warranty repair for these types of repairs… ALSO, no paperwork or description of «work performed» was included at all from the manufacturer(Jeff Cooper NYC) DeScenza’s explained that this is an industry standard. Other than this I would recommend; they are very VERY friendly when you are buying … . . .
