Alber Service Co

I have used Alber twice. Once to replace an old boiler & bring the entire system up to snuff at a Charity on Maple Avenue in Merchantville at which I have been active for about 4 years in various volunteer positions. They succeeded at a quick pace, on time & on budget. The 2^nd times was at my house in Voorhees to install a new AC, Heater, Water Heater & Humidifier. We had worked with at least 3 contractors over the years and no one could get the rooms close to equal in temperature, winter or summer. Three rooms in 3 different parts of the house were 4 to 8 degrees colder in winter and warmer in summer. Bill, the owner constructed a special vent in one room, changed a baffle, added a baffle and discovered that an air return vent was really a heat/​ac vent. When they finished the job in a professional manner, on time and at a competitive price, the rooms were within 1 – 3 degrees different in temperature. A remarkable feat! The savings annual are apparent, but the comfort is beyond «the moon.» I highly recommend them.

I recently purchased a house in Pennsauken and found their name on the system that came with the place. I called them to come out to do yearly maintenance. The tech that came out was done, and walked me thru what had to be done. I was very happy with the explanation and the work that he did.
However, the next day my wife received a call form their office telling me that there had been a mistake and they they had to have another tech come out to look at the system. When the other tech arrived, my wife was told that the system had to be replaced. He didn’t even look at the units and told my wife that the other tech that was out was just an apprentice and he didn’t know what he was doing.
She called me at work, but I could not make it back in time while he was there. (I work in DE). And that the tech should leave all the information for me to look over when I got home. He didn’t want to leave the info and that she should have me call.
I called and spoke with someone who claimed they were the owner. He said that the system needed to be replaced, that the coil was bad and the compressor was old and inefficient.
I found this very suspect, I mean, didn’t his technician just give it a good bill of health?
I told him that I would call him back later in the week, well, he didn’t like this idea and really pushed me to have the unit replaced. He was telling me about rebates, discounts, how his company had been in business for dozens of years and that he knew what he was talking about. A very hard sell that I was having none of.
I called 3 other companies to come out and look at the unit, paying out of my pocket to have this done, and EVERY ONE OF THEM told me the unit was in PERFECT WORKING ORDER!
I would not recommend this company to anyone, i find their business practices suspect and bordering on the unethical/​illegal.
I understand that a company has to generate a profit to remain in business, however, staying in business in this manner is just horrible.
In the end, I would not recommend Alber Service due to my experience with them

Honest, hard-​working, personable people. Everyone in the office is great and very eager to help. The techs, especially Tom, are wonderful. They’re always on time and get straight to work.
I had no heat for 2 weeks — long (boring) story stemming from a custom furnace and a discontinued part — Albers got straight to work tracking down a virtually non-​existant part for us. They honored their quote even when they ended up having to overnight an additional module and make an extra visit to my home.
Highly recommended! These are the people to call!

The people at Alber are straight-​shooting hard workers and I respect the hell out of that. They came in, gave us a solid estimate on a big project and estimated how much more efficient our house would be. When the work was done — A+ on the job, by the way — they beat their marks. Last month, our energy bill was 50% lower than it was for the same month a year earlier.
The work we got done was terrific and already paying for itself at a quicker rate than we expected.
