This is by far the best book sale I have ever been to and I have been to quite a few book sales in my time. I’m like a book sale aficionado. I used to frequent the Friends of the Library Book Sale in Sonoma County 10 – 15 years ago that they held in one of the large rooms at the Fairgrounds. Back then I thought it was the bees knees and I have missed it until now… because this one is better! The Penryn Book Sale is run by a sweet lady named Lynn who uses a large barn on her property to sell books in. The book sale is the first weekend of every month with half off books on Sunday. And she changes out all the books every month so there is always something new! My favorite part of the sale is that all proceeds benefit wonderful local animal charities like Scooters Pals, Gold County Wildlife Rescue, Angels Rescuing Animals, etc. Amazing! Prices are super cheap too with all paperbacks being $ 0.50 each and all hardbacks being $ 1.00. And what may you find here I ask? Fiction, Nonfiction, Cookbooks, Biographies, Westerns, Religious Books, Children’s Books, Romance, etc. As well as a few odds and ends like VHS tapes and home décor. There are over 20,000 books!!! Definitely worth the drive one weekend a month to check it out. Admittedly the first time you come it will be a little weird driving onto someone else’s property whom you don’t know, but you will soon feel comfortable and at home outside in beautiful Penryn. They also have a bookstore benefiting the same great animal charities up in Auburn if you want to make the drive a little further north.
