Went for breakfast on a rainy Sunday around 10am. Peak time! Place was half empty and all the open tables were mostly un-cleared and dirty. The one table without dirty dishes on it was still wet and sticky. When the waitress came I had to ask her to wipe it down and she huffed and came back and swiped at it disinterestedly. My friend asked for a ginger ale to drink and she brought diet(bottle) with a glass of ice and plopped it down before asking if it was ok… it was not. Later on in the meal when I asked for a coke I got a cold 20 ounce bottle and a glass of ice with an inch of water(?) in the bottom. I chose not to use the glass. My friend saw a lemonade dispenser on the back counter so he asked for that. Waitress said ok and then went a cleaned tables for over 10 minutes before bringing the lemonade. Food was ok, my omelette ingredients were not well distributed, all of one thing was on one side and the other ingredient was on the other. Food took a long time to come. The waitstaff were morose and un-engaging. Waitress dropped the bill without asking if we were all set or anything. Left payment on table and walked out. Will not be back… ever

So cute! Had spring eggs Benny with broccoli and spinach, yum. Charlotte is always here to say hi and is always cheerful. It’s also handicap accessible. Nice hometown feel, everyone knows everyone!

Good came out quick. Lives up to the name«cosy». French toast was a bit soggy, but omelet is great. The big guy breakfast was good overall, and the prices are great(especially visiting from NY!)

My rating is more like 2.5, but that’s not an option so I will round up. We’ve been coming to Charlotte’s for breakfast(and occasionally for Friday night dinner) for many years – ever since they took over«Jack and Diane’s» at least 15 years ago, probably longer. Why do we keep coming back if I’m only giving it 3 stars? Mainly because it’s close by and the prices are reasonable(e.g. $ 3.50 for 2 eggs, toast and home fries.) We’ve had some decent dinners with good portions, but breakfast is pretty average with portions that are somewhat meager(e.g. the omelettes are rather spartan ingredient-wise; especially compared to the omelettes served up at Tiny’s in Ayer). Service could be better. If you go for breakfast, hopefully your server will be Carol, who is cheery and attentive. Otherwise all bets are off. We tend to come here less and less lately as there are better choices not that much farther away. A few of our favorites: River City Diner in Fitchburg. Riverhouse Café in Milford, NH; Café on the Oval in Milford, NH; Country View Diner in Tyngsboro; Tiny’s in Ayer(great omelletes!)

I’ve been here a few times and I really don’t know why I keep coming back. The food is pretty decent and the prices are great but the service is garbage. The waitresses here clearly don’t want to be here as they always seem depressed and uninterested in the customers. I went there yesterday for breakfast and no one even bothered to give us menus, we grabbed a couple off of a nearby table. I ordered a BLT and my boyfriend ordered scrambled eggs with bacon and toast. Pretty simple right? Took 40 minutes for us to get our food and the place was hardly busy. Furthermore, she offered everyone around me more coffee and didn’t bother with me. Oh well. I won’t be coming back! I’ll stick to going to the dream diner in tyngsboro from now on.

I had a turkey club which was a mixed bag. Lots of turkey in slabs that seemed like the real thing rather than the usually deli roll. The downside of that is that the closer you get to nature the more variable the product. I have cooked lots of whole turkeys in my life and some had the odd off-taste I found nere, and some were very dry like what I had here. I’d still prefer the real thing, though, and it is hard to find, especially at these prices.(I think I paid $ 7.38 including tax.) The bread seemed to be a homemade whole wheat, fairly thick and substantial, but a bit dry. Combined with the dry turkey it made for a very dry sandwich. The Miracle Whip helped with the dryness but not with the taste. There was a reasonable amount and qualtiy of lettuce and bacon, but very little tomato, and that of the orange, hard, cellophane sort. Some good, ripe local tomato would have really helped with the taste and the dryness. French fries were much better than average — crispy on the outside and not greasy. A good place for a local farmer or a trucker passing through. A bit basic for yuppies or the folks who bike on trails in funny costumes;-) And, yes, it probably has never been remodeled, but it looked like they clean the place. It’s right in the center of downtown off 113. Their ice cream stand claimed 40 flavors but it’s Gifford’s which I do not like.

Only been there for breakfast and it’s been really good each time. Average prices, average service. Nothing special inside and looks a little tired.

…and these guys do catering, too? PuhLEEZE! I’m amazed that this place is still open. The food is absolutely lousy. I guess the folks who want to dine out in Pepperell will eat just about anything. For a good b’fast, try The Spa Café at the opposite end of the block. If lunch or dinner is what you want, there’s a nice clean little Chinese-Thai place up the hill next to the convenience store. And then there’s all the pizza places in town. Current count = 3(down from 5).

I could have sworn I wrote a review about this place a few years ago, but I guess not. I had just moved to the area, was 8 months prego and looking for some lunch. I walked in at 12:30 pm and was promptly greeted by the waitress with, «We close at 1:00 pm». Okaaaay… So, I turned around to leave. She barked that I should sit at the counter and order because I’ll have«plenty of time to eat and be out before 1:00 pm». I sat down because I was unsure of where else I could find some lunch. I ordered a BLT(it was sub-par to put it nicely) and a coke. After I finished, I left money for my bill and walked out without anyone else saying a word to me. And I’ve never been back.

Mediocre food, horrible service! I took a bite of my waffle and bit into FROZEN raspberries. When I told the server she didn’t apologize, just took my plate. After what I’m assuming was a microwave job, she brought it back with no apology. It was okay food, nothing special. Did I mention I ordered a diet Coke and was brought a 20 oz bottle? Didn’t visit us at any point during our meal to see if we needed anything. Ridiculously bad. Skip it.

We’ve lived right down the road for Charlotte’s for years but never stopped in until last weekend, and I’m sorry we did. The first thing I noticed was the décor of the restaurant. The place is outfitted with vinyl tablecloths and silk flowers. Definitely outdated and in desperate need of a makeover. Our waitress seemed totally unapproachable. She only visited our table to take our order and bring our food. She never came back to the table to ask if there was anything we needed or how the food was. She left the check on the table without saying anything when our meals came, which kind of made me feel rushed out of the place. The check was handwritten, and after looking it over, we realized the waitress had made a mistake in our favor. Perhaps if she’d come back at any point, it could have been brought to her attention. Oh well. The food was terrible. I ordered scrambled eggs, rye toast, and home fries. My eggs had a greyish tinge and many of the home fries on my plate were burnt black. My boyfriend got the pancakes which were undercooked, bacon, also undercooked, that came broken in several pieces(?) wheat toast, and home fries that came black like mine. The coffee was cold and tasted watery but the juice was ok. I will say that the toast was very good with both our meals. The bread was good quality, fresh, and thick. It was the best part of both our breakfasts. It’s just a shame the quality wasn’t there with anything else.

After coming here for a pretty good dinner last year, we checked this place out for breakfast this morning. First off, waitstaff seemed very depressed to be there. There was no enthusiasm what so ever and they seemed like they were just going through the motions in a very monotone voice. The dining room is also in desperate need of a renovation. We went with our 2 and 4 year old kids. We started with a fruit cup as my daughter enjoys fruit. Maybe its just me, but I would think a fruit cup would have at least 3 or 4 different kids of fruit. We ended up with just cantaloupe… nothing else. What were they thinking? I ordered a special of an open faced omelette with tomatos, ham, green pepper, onion and cheese, homefries, and a grilled pumpkin muffin. Omelette was OK, homefries were a little overcooked and could have use a little more spices, and the muffin was good… but could have been a tad sweeter. My wife was not impressed with her sausage egg scrambler. Said it was extremely greasy. Her pancakes were OK. We ordered a short stack of pancakes for the kids, but they were WAY undercooked. Coffee was not that great either. Will not be coming back to Charlotte’s other than the ice cream window in the summer.

The worst breakfast experience I ever had, and I’m from Maine; we eat anything. It was a weekend on Fathers’ day I believe about 10AM, peak time for breakfast I know. The place was busy, though we managed to find one open table. We waited 20 minutes before a waitress came over to take our order. It was at that time I asked for menus so we could decide. She said«oh» and went away to get them and never came back. I finally went to an area near the kitchen and grabbed some extra menus. It’s now been well over 30 minutes and Daddy is hungry. We finally did get to order and waited another 30 minutes for our food. Pretty simple order; scrambled eggs, bacon, homefries, toast, coffee, juice. When it finally came I was confused. They substittuted half cooked frozen french fries for home fries. How creative! This is something I might do on a camping trip if I was hung over from a night of drinking beers around the campfire, but really… from a local breakfast/lunch restaurant?! The eggs just didn’t look right, wrong color(puce) and texture(slippery) and everything was cold. The wait staff was completely dis-connected and they all seemed like it was their first day with no training. Another table nearby got up and walked out leaving full plates of whatever behind in disgust. We did the same, though I did pay the bill leaving no tip. Here’s a tip… Do not eat breakfast at Charlotte’s Cozy Kitchen!

breakfast isn’t bad, but who could screw up b-fast? lunch and dinner menu is awful. A step(maybe a half step) above cafeteria food. Very bland. I’ve tried this place 3 times(chicken pot pie, chicken fried steak, pasta carbonara) and all 3 were not worth more than 3 bites… Very disappointing.

If you’re spending a hefty part of your day on the Nashua River rail trail, you’re doing yourself a disservice if you don’t get a bite to eat here. It’s diner fare in an old family kitchen style dinette – friendly waitstaff, cries of «order up,» locals that might look at you funny if you’re in bike gear, all that good stuff. The prices are dirt cheap and the portions are wonderfully generous. I got a «Little Bit” – 2 eggs any style, 2 slabs of bacon, sausage, French toast, regular toast and a pancake – all of that for six bucks, I kid you not. This place also runs the Rail Trail Ice Cream Stop, which is a must if the weather’s warm and you’ve worked up a sweat. It’s a lovely little place.

Charlotte’s is a gem, with fresh breakfasts and inviting lunches. No fusion, retro, or nouvelle — just basic fare. The place is spacious, clean, and friendly. They serve dinner on Friday nights, and I was told it’s usually packed. Charlotte’s is the perfect stop if you’re on a scenic trip along Rte 113, right in «downtown» Pepperell. The«Rail Trail Ice Cream Stop» is right next door(same owners).
