Tea Cafe

Pretty generic Chinese food, really is probably 2.5 stars. It’s relatively cheap, very quick fare. I have been 3 times for takeout while visiting in-​laws in pepperell. I’m too lazy to drive to the better option of lilac blossom, so I come here once in a blue moon. Full disclosure: I either like my Chinese food to be really good fresh stuff like lilac blossom or really really greasy shit that is brown and gross but actually so tasty, tea café was sadly for me in the middle and helped neither craving.
My wife ordered steamed vegetable and chicken which was as bland as ever.
I got the pupu platter which I enjoyed enough and fried rice. The rice was the problem it had not taste. It wasn’t greasy and gross. Nor was it tasty and fresh. Literally no taste.
Pros: clean bathroom and clean-​enough interior. Apparently a very cheap drink menu.
Overall nothing special. But if you need quick, meh Chinese food that isn’t too greasy. Go for it.

Ordered a large house fried rice and boneless spare ribs. The rice looked like it was under a heat lamp all day. The boneless ribs tasted like Jerky.
If it wasn’t the weekend I’d bring it back !

So I have mixed feelings… Just moved near by to this place and gave it a try. First off the menu online says dinner combo comes with two apps but when calling in they denied it on one meal. We looked past that as perhaps a communication error. Got take out — Thai noodles which was good and lo mein. However the lo mein I got had no noddles … Like not a single one… it was bean sports and celery… terrible couldn’t eat it has to toss the entire meal.
Crab rangoons were great.

This was my first time in. I was in the area getting my car worked on, and felt like trying something local. This place was within a mile walking distance. I was in just as lunchtime rolled around. I was seated quickly and brought an icy glass of water. I ordered the lunch combination of Moo Goo Gai Pan with chicken fingers with a bowl of Egg drop soup to start. The soup came quickly. It was piping hot and sprinkled liberally with fresh sliced scallions. It was a perfect combination of chicken broth and egg and not salty. Nice. The Moo Goo Gai Pan followed close behind. It was a large collection of crunchy fresh veggies, mushrooms and chicken. Again everything tasted very fresh and nothing was too salty. I will definitely be in again. A great lunch for under $ 11.

I tell ya what… I’ve had my fair share of good & bad chinese/​Thai. Boston, north Attleboro (quan), Hawaii, Japan, you name it. I have to say this place WAS REALLY MAD GOOD and i was shocked. Get the tropical thai, it blew me away. Seriously, for $ 9.50 you could get this for $ 25 in Boston & still like it. ¹⁰⁄₁₀. Disclaimer: I was real hungry after mowing the field behind my house but still I licked the plate. Ps around the back in this mini plaza is a great micro brew liquor store

Place consistently blows. Service is terrible… they need to get some more acclimated workers that understand basic commands. Food is OK… when it’s what you ordered. Drinks are good though. Guessing they’ve been hit for underage serving as they’re very strict with looking identical to your ID. Parking sucks. only five spots on the side. Prices are average to high. Better places to go, don’t bother.

Great place for meeting up with a few friends and getting a good amount of food for a decent price. We typically go with another couple and split a pu pu platter along with a few sides and are always stuffed and have left overs. They have large Mai tais that come in the fountain beverage glasses and they are not shy with their pours. It’s our go to Chinese food restaurant. I would give it five stars if they delivered

I’ve been to Tea Café several time. I’d give it 3.5 or so stars if there were halves. It’s a very clean place. The food is good and reasonably priced. I think they could change up the fried rice recipe a little but I haven’t found anything I don’t like. It’s not west coast or Chinatown Chinese but above average compared to the local area. I wouldn’t recommend traveling far and wide to come but if you are local It’s worth a visit.

Tea Café is a casual Chinese restaurant, which offers full service dining and takeout service. They offer cocktails here (no bar seating).
The menu offerings include the standard Chinese dishes and items including Mandarin, Szechuan, and Cantonese cuisines. They also offer a few Thai dishes on the menu too. The prices here are reasonable, most items priced $ 10.95 or less. Most House Specialties priced $ 10.95 to $ 14.95. 26 Combination Plates are offered here served with pork fried rice (except 3 noodle combos) and choice of appetizer (s) for Lunch (served Mon-​Sat until 3PM except holidays $ 5.95-$ 6.95−1 appetizer) and Dinner ($ 7.95-$ 9.95−2 appetizers). The menu offerings and pricing are very similar to Main House in Groton, except C26 Thai Noodles with Peanuts are offered here as a combination choice.
I stopped in at Tea Café for lunch takeout recently. I decided to try out C26 Chicken Thai Noodles with Peanuts ($ 6.95) with Chicken Fingers (3). The food was ready to go in 10 minutes. The portion of food was pretty generous for the price paid. The square styrofoam box was filled up good with Thai Noodles which had tender pieces of boneless chicken, carrots, green peppers, scallions, egg, and sprouts mixed with very soft flat rice noodles, crushed peanuts came in a separate cup. Similar to to the taste of Pad Thai, this dish had good sweet and slightly salty flavors with a wet texture. It’s not Pad Thai, but this version of Thai Noodles was very good. The golden Chicken Fingers were deep fried crisp on the outside (thin layer of batter) with tender boneless white meat chicken strips inside, duck sauce for dipping.
Overall, I enjoyed my filling lunch and I would definitely return again.

Great place! Good staff, and amazing food! I usually go with a scallion pancake appetizer (simple I know, but some places still manage to get it wrong). Some vegetable fried rice on the side, and my favorite entrée is chicken with cashews which is very good. Either that or Pad Thai are a sure bet! Will definitely be back!

After church we ordered take out from this place. We have been here before and agreed it wasn’t that good but we needed something fast and easy. It only toke ten minutes before the food was ready and it was actually pretty good. Big portion sizes about 10 crab ragon which was truly amazing we also got the chicken lo mein which was also good. The general Gaia chicken wasn’t that good needed to be more spicy and the chicken could have been less chewy, overall pretty good meal

The place is clean and the waitresses are nice. But, the food is just so-​so. All of the chicken dishes taste the same. Altogether, the food is pretty bland. It’s good quality, but not very flavorful. A plus: Good drinks, cheap!

For our dinner tonight we both had Thai noodles. Her’s with tofu, mine with chicken. Served on sparkling plates heaped high with noodles, veggies and protein choices. Accompanied by perfect egg rolls and tasty boneless spareribs (that weren’t slathered in some crappy sauce).
You could eat off the floors in this place. I cannot remember a cleaner well-​kept restaurant. We’re inspired to invite a bunch of our friends here for a party. This place beats the other «usual» Chinese haunts (Makaha, Yangtze Kitchen, Lilac Blossom) by miles! Pepperell has lucked out with this place!

We’ve ordered takeout from Tea Café on two different occasions. After having lived in Honolulu and Seattle, I guess I’m a bit spoiled when it comes to Chinese food. Tea Café’s food was decent… not great, not terrible. The crab rangoons were delish, but I’ve never met a crab rangoon I didn’t like. Good place to get your Chinese food fix if you can’t make it into Boston.

I moved to Pepperell this weekend. Yes in the snow rain etc. After unpacking and unloading some went back to Boston to pick up another load and I went to work unpacking the house. I decided to venture out for food and this was close by. There was actually quite a line. I went across the street to Rite Aid and the girl said she had never been there. SO I crossed my fingers and ordered for the whole family.
The wait for pick up was 25mins and it was ready in like 10mins. I was starving so I was definitely happy with that. We ordered garlic broccolli, vegetable chow mein, vegetable fried rice, sweet & sour chicken, and beef & broccolli with white rice.
I ate the broccoli and chow mein. Both were good. Not like bad mall chinese or anything. I was happy. I really loved the garlic broccoli sauce. Everyone else gobbled up the rest. The chicken was a hit. The staff was polite but not super interactive.
Overall I am happy with the chinese in the town. The parking situation is weird though. You have to park on the side. The front is designated for 7 – 11.

Very clean inside with attentive waitstaff– The food assortment is rather standard but for what it is seemed quite fresh compared to other quick Chinese places. I think that some of the people that have had bad experiences could benefit from another try, I was in the same boat before and decided to give it another go– It ended up being a good decision and swayed me back to a four-​star review.

Orange chicken, hot and sour soup, egg rolls and pork fried rice. Dined in for once. Basic chinese takeout that’s consistently good.

I met a friend here for dinner over the weekend — I was in Hollis, NH and he was in Ashby, MA, so I searched for a Thai restaurant in Townsend and Google Maps listed the Tea Café. Unfortunately, it’s NOT a Thai restaurant — there were only 4 items under the «Thai» section of their enormous menu, which mainly offers Chinese dishes.
I had the Bean Curd and Vegetables under the Thai section, which was good but standard Chinese fare with a bland sauce. My friend had the Chicken with Cashews, which he seemed to enjoy. We ordered Chicken Teriyaki for an appetizer and while the portion was large the chicken was poor quality — stringy — with very little flavor.
The waitress was very sweet and attentive, and the place was completely empty of other customers. The bathrooms were very clean.
I’d return here for Chinese take out in a pinch, but wouldn’t recommend the Tea Café if you’re looking for classic Thai food (Pad Thai, etc.)

great food: fresh, colorful, flavorful, light, well prepared, and just delicious. nice and attentive people, clean restaurant, pleasant atmosphere. what a great find in this little town! just wish I lived closer.

Tea Café just opened this week on Tarbell St. (Rt. 113) in East Pepperell Center. It is right next to the White Hen Pantry and the Nashua River Rail Trail.
We ordered takeout last night as this is right on my way home from work. Before it opened, I noticed the sign said «Chinese and Thai». My wife and I really like Chinese, but really LOVE Thai food.
Unfortunately, the menu only lists 6 Thai items (as opposed to the 150+ Chinese items). Nonetheless, we ordered the «Chicken Tropical» and «Chicken Thai Noodles». In addition, we got some of their beef Moo-​shi.
The Thai dishes were more of a pseudo-​Thai, not quite the same ingredients as you would find in an authenticate Thai place. The Chicken tropical has very tender chicken in a nice mildly-​spicy sauce with very fresh veggies and pineapple chunks. The chicken Thai noodles were somewhat like Pad Thai and we’re tasty. The Moo-​shi was good and came with 4 fresh pancakes. You can order more for 40 cents each.
The best part of this place is the portions! After having a big meal last night from those 3 items, we have enough leftovers for lunch and dinner today! Total cost was reasonable at $ 25.
We will definitely order from this place again, probably exploring more of their Chinese items.
