A Hidden Gem of Mexican Authenticity
This is our favorite of all the surrounding area Mexican Restaurants. It is fresher, more authentic, very friendly staff, and an overall better experience than most other Mexican restaurants.
It looks small, and it is, but upon entering you are in an authentic Mexican atmosphere, with a small store of Mexican food supplies. They have the traditional Mexican candies, snacks, chips, cookies/​breads; There is even a deep freeze with the traditional Mexican Frozen Fruit bars (Anyone from California or Texas knows about these), and yes even coconut flavor.
Around a divider wall, is the dining area, and they have a nice selective menu with meal descriptions, plus the staff can help out as well. There is both the traditional food options to more authentic Mexican combinations that is not common to US restaurants, so if you want a taste of what they have to offer in Mexico, this is the place.
It is a Family owned business, and the family is from Mexico themselves. The community of Percy has a small collective Mexican population and this restaurant/​store serves them well, and they are proud of it.
If you are looking at this area especially visiting the Sparta area (Grand American, ATA, or SASS) then this is worth the 15 minute drive down to Percy.
I gave it a 5 in terms of Mexican Restaurants, for Friendliness, and Mexican Authenticity as well as creativity and a small welcoming atmosphere of Mexican Hospitality.
We do love it and prefer it over the other Popular regional chain that dominates, Chester, Sparta, Freeburg, Waterloo, Columbia and Red Bud
