Luna Sea

Its really rare that I go into a mixed art media store and end up liking so many things. The owner has excellent taste and has found some beautiful pieces of functional art, such as handmade chairs, stepping stones, mugs, bowls, all handmade by some talented people. So refreshing to go into a place and see the real thing, [rather than souvenir «art» trinkets mass produced in China, for example] and fairly priced. Definitely worth the short drive off Highway 1.

This is a shop full of beautiful things, at great prices, run by a woman who is an animal loving/​rescuing saint with a great disposition. What’s not to like? I bought a beautiful piece of porcelain and while I can’t say whether or not it actually causes my dreams to come true (which was written on a little scroll inside), it looks absolutely beautiful on my bedstand. Come to this store, give the owner your money, and come away with a beautiful object by an American artist. Pescadero has many charms, but Janice and her beautiful store make the town for me. Five stars and seventeen big smiley faces.

Love — Love — Love this place! What a cute store with lots of unique, handmade art and gifts. I bought a pair of cool cufflinks for my SO and he loved them! Reasonably priced items and excellent customer service!

I really like this place– Truly a unique store that sells truly unique, handmade/​small batch type of art & gifts. I am not a high-​roller, and don’t drop hundreds of dollars on art or anything of the like so I hate when I go into a boutique only to find that everything is astronomically priced.
Which is not really the case here– There are many things that are ‘reasonably’ priced. Each year around the holidays I stop in and find something really nice, really tasteful and handcrafted (another HUGE plus). Last year it was the Gorgeous Birdfeeders ($ 40), the year before a stuffed felted animal (size large) for $ 30. This year it was printed motivation quotes on a large recycled-​wood wall décor ($ 75). Gorgeous! The owner is also extremely friendly and can tell you the origins of everything in the store.

Hands down my favorite gallery anywhere! Janice, the owner, is so warm and friendly, and her adorable cottage is always well stocked with an ever changing variety of amazing and unique art, jewelry, crafts, furniture, and gifts created by mostly local artists. I rarely leave empty handed, and my home and garden (and those of my friends) are more beautiful, because of the lovely pieces I have acquired at Luna Sea over the years. A trip to Pescadero would not be complete without stopping in to say hello to Janice, her adorable and friendly Goldendoodle Pebbles, and a browse of her latest finds. A true gem on the coast, and one of the nicest galleries anywhere!

WHAT AN AMAZING STORE!!! I have to say I never expected such a great gift store with such wonderful things in it when I was just passing through a beautiful town of Pescadero, CA. The owner has done such a great job finding items that are not only USA made but that are also so unique that you will not find them just anywhere. If in the area, you have to visit this hidden little gem!!!

This is a cute little store that sells all different kinds of wares by local artists. Glass, painting, sculpture, knitting, and endless knick-knacks…you can find almost anything. It’s a lot of fun to browse around if you are in the area.

Highly recommend this ecclectic and uplifting store! Before you even walk through the doorway, the yard is filled with one-​of-​a-​kind sculptures and colorful outdoor rugs. You can sit on the porch in distinctive, comfortable wooden chairs and people watch a bit. Once inside, you’ll find exclusive items for your home or for gifts, a rack of humorous cards you don’t see everywhere, and everything from gorgeous slippers, to serving dishes, to pet collars, hand-​made hats, jewelry, unique art work, and funky travel alarm clocks. The owner is cheerful and has great ideas. Highly recommend this store!

Of all the wonderful businesses in this quaint coastal town, Luna Sea is my favorite. It’s a little quirky, a bit whimsical and everything beautiful. As other reviewers have stated, Luna Sea sells the wares of local artisans; glass, cards, beautiful wood furniture. I will be sure to stop here each and every time we are on the coast.

This is a cute little store right on the main drag in Pescadero. Tons of artsy things, doodads, cards, glassware, sculptures, etc. It’s fun to browse through the different colorful items. Beware though if you’re not a dog person like Yours Truly… there’s a big one kinda just standing there derping around in the doorway. You’ll need your husband to make it move for you.
Also! The Unilocal map is completely wrong for this store so don’t use that to try and find it.

How can you go wrong with a tiny clock with Van Gogh’s face on it and on the end of the second hand sweeping around the face… is his ear?!
Love this little shop. I always find the more unique gifts here!

There are some beautiful pieces here. I love the use of stones in the large vases and the step stones. I also met a beautiful goldendoodle here.
Great place to stop into if you’re in Pescadero.

There are gazillion boutiques in the Bay Area and beyond but Luna Sea («LUNACY”-very witty) is unique because of its location and the unique crafts that they sell. It is a very charming little cottage tucked away in a hidden little town called Pescadero along the coast. The owner is very friendly. It reminds me of a venue for a French or Italian chickflick.
Boyfriend is more sentimental than I am. Whenever we go to an event or out of town, he buys me little souvenirs that will remind us of that beautiful day or something that can go into our house.
Luna Sea is just a place for that: candles, jewelries, colorful glass cheese plates, hummingbird feeders, glass bubbles, cards, paintings of the local beaches, etc.
The best thing about this store: they sell crafts made by local artists which make them one of kind.
So, what did Boyfriend buy me for a souvenir? A big colorful glass bubble that I can hang on the window. Hopefully it will give us many years of pleasure that will remind us of our beautiful afternoon in Pescadero (if my butterfingers do not break them first!)

I’m a sucker for stores that come with a dog. This store comes with an older springer spaniel.
I didn’t even realize the play on words of Luna Sea (Lunacy) until now. We walked all along the main drag of Pescadero (of course that took — what? a minute?) and Luna Sea was the nicest gift store.
Among Luna Sea’s wares were:
-$ 20 soaps shaped like golden retriever and labrador puppies (can’t tell them I’m a dog lover can you?)
–cool reversible heart necklaces with different patterns on each side
–lots of blown glass artsy things

Stopped here during a Sunday drive this weekend and LOVED this great little gallery. Not just a nice selection of jewelry, candles & soaps, ceramics, glass, & hats, the owner is extremely friendly as well. They have a great price range too, lots of things under $ 40. Will definitely come back here for holiday shopping!

Loved this store – my fave on the little downtown Pescadero strip. :-)
Highlights:
— The name: Luna Sea. How can you not love that??? Play on words and double meanings rule. Just found out it’s a Japanese rock band too:
— The art: ADORED – yes I’m shouting it – the one artist she highlighted. As you come in, it was on the far left wall of the room on the left. I’m kicking myself for not writing it down and more for listening to the hub’s non-​enthusiastic reaction to her paintings I loved. I should have went home with one! The were eclectic, whimsical, bright, colorful alice in wonderland-​like paintings of landscapes viewed from an askewed angle. My faves were the ones with wine glasses in em – surprise surprise.
— The cards: super fun getting card collections with fun, old photos and funny sayings. An example is a pic of tow older ladies with the caption «We’ve been through a lot together – most of it was your fault.» ;-)
— The feel: very open, creative, and inviting.
— Outside area: featuring cool sculptures. I liked the one where it looked like 2 people kissing and formed a heart. Yes, I’m a softie for stuff like that and love anything with hearts in it. Hey, I’m a gal full of love. 8-​)
Lowlights (my flip side to highlights):
— Some of the rooms have slanted/​uneven floors. Kind of adds to the personality of the place, but just be careful.
— I didn’t get that painting and it’s not super close to go back. :-(
I’ll be back for a painting next time I artichoke soup and cioppino down the street. ;-)

Indeed a cool little store. Right on Stage Road — the «main drag» of the conurbation of Pescadero. Interesting the shop was the childhood home of Gordon Moore (of Moore’s law and Intel fame). The town was founded by his forebears and there is a cool sign that says: «Moore Ranch — Since 1852» not far away on North Street.
Definitely don’t follow the map shown here if you want to see it though. Do however follow the map, if you feel like taking a nice hike on a dirt trail through Butano state park.

This is one of the most eclectic, creative shops I’ve found on the backroads around Half Moon Bay and the bay area in general. From the aluminum and steel quirky lawn art to the hand dipped, found candles this little Pescadero shop offers it all. I always stop in for a look at what’s new in the yard as well as a pass over the candle corner. I can’t help but find something I want each time I go. The swirled, hippie style candles are so unique and the solid color hand dipped ones are just perfect for a romantic table at home. Stop in next time you’re in town and take home a little «Luna Sea»!
