Just tried this out Monday, my son LOOOOOVED it! He has been jumping over pillows and doing«cartwheels» ever since. Really looking forward to the next session. This is a great way to engage little bodies and minds, especially during these upcoming colder wetter months.

I have been training with Mary(Come Come) for the last two years. I came to the class with previous injuries(not from Capoeira!) that I needed to be careful of. Mary took good care of me, and over time Capoeira has truly strengthened my core and reduced my pain! I keep coming back to class not only because the workouts kick my butt, but because of the strong sense of family and acceptance that is present in Capoeira Petaluma. If you are thinking of trying a class, come on by! Everyone is super nice and we always have beginners so it’s a welcoming experience. If you are already a Capoeirista, come train with us, you won’t be disappointed. Axe!

Come Come is a fantastic teacher. I have been training with her since April 2012 and in that time have learned sequences with her that I hadn’t been able to quite understand before with others. I have been training with a few different capoeira schools in the Bay Area since the Fall of 2008 and of all my teachers Come Come has been the most clear, and direct in her explanations of different moves and sequences. It is so inspiring to train with a woman who is strong, knowledgeable, and friendly who can model the female mechanics of the moves. She is a pro at tailoring her lessons to include co-ed classes of beginners as well as seasoned capoeiristas. A typical class begins with a warm up, then stretching, training of sequences and then a cultural section that includes how to play the instruments typical of capoiera or a brief roda(game with other players.) We have such a tight knit group of people in Petaluma and both Come Come and her husband Contra Mestre Fabio are well respected in the capoeira communities in the greater Bay Area and beyond. People come as far as Sebastopol, Cloverdale, Sonoma, San Francisco & Grass Valley to train here! We have been told by many visiting capoeiristas that we have a very special group of friendly, dedicated students and teachers. I am sooooo incredibly thankful to train here! Much love and axe’!

I have been training with Mary for the last nine months. I have watched the class grow in that time, and for good reason. Mary has a passion and enthusiasm for Capoeira that extends beyond just teaching basic moves and kicks. She has created a community that trains hard and supports each other. Mary has been patient with me and adapted movements to accommodate a back injury that I had from a previous incident. I get a great martial art workout, cultural experience and a new network of friends. Learning Capoeira with Mary at Capoeira Petaluma is the best thing I’ve done in a while.
