i am a newbie to korean food but have had a nice variety in the past year of different items.
this was my first dolsot bibimbap and it met expectations. i got the veggie and i really enjoyed crispy rice at the bottom. the veggies were tasty and i liked the meal.
it came with some kimchi (that could have been spicier like everyone else has said) and miso soup that was tasty but cold when i got it.
i also thought it was on the more expensive side. it cost about $ 14 for the veggie bibimbap and a regular sized bottle of deer park water (they had a very large selection of drinks and in different sizes).
i would go back but i’m in no rush.

b.b.go is good for a tasty lunch now & again. I usually get the bulgogi bimbimbap. It’s pricey for lunch, but the food is fresh, tasty and not overcooked. I haven’t tried many other Korean places, so I don’t have a good comparison on whether this place does «good» Korean food. However, I do know what I get is tasty fresh & fast, which is really about 80% of what a takeout place needs to do in my book.
If you’re in Center City and want something that’s a little exotic and not too far afield, b.b.go is worth a try.

I have been to b.b.go many times since I started my job in Center City. Unfortunately, I have to say that it’s more of a convenience thing rather than the quality of food.
I tried the beef bibimbop, soondubu jjigae and the dduckbokki. I really like the dduckbokki, and the bibimbop but the soondubu jjigae was bleh.
The thing that really prevents me from pushing this rating to a 4-​star is the price. The prices are too steep compared to the prices at other Korean restaurants in the area. But if you’re craving a bibimbop and you’re nearby, you could probably do worse.

I did not know how to pronounce the names!. So I just pointed. I would love to work here and see people struggle trying to pronounce things.
My boyfriend and I shared the Bulgogi Dubbap. It was okay. Nothing special but it wasn’t bad.

i was in the city with my future roommate yesterday looking at our new apartment in rittenhouse square. yes! after 3 years in west philly, i’m FINALLY moving into the city. after we signed the lease, we decided to grab lunch nearby to get to know our future neighborhood a little better.
pros:
+ very clean
+ extremely friendly staff and owners
+ yummy and spicy kimchi
+ unlimited gochujang (red pepper paste)
+ raw egg on the dolsot bibimbap! even though i don’t eat it, i can appreciate that they offer it
cons:
+ onion miso soup? no clue what it is exactly, but i’m not a fan
+ pricey: $ 12 for dolsot bibimbap
+ small portion of bulgogi in the bibimbap
+ limited menu printed on the wall, but at least it seems they added the dolsot bibimbap by popular demand
even though i put tons and TONS of gochujang on my bibimbap, it was still kinda bland for my taste. i hate to compare… but, if i were to compare bbgo to koreana, my preference would still lie with koreana. the portions here are smaller but pricier. koreana has better miso soup, but the kimchi side at bbgo rocks.
so this place stands at 3.5 stars for me. the only reason i’m rounding up to 4 stars is because the owners are so adorable and the staff is so friendly and always asking for feedback and ways to improve. you can tell they’re really trying hard to make their customers happy.

wow i can’t believe this place doesn’t have higher reviews. Not only are the owners so adorable and helpful (and can cook up a storm), but the food here is so tasty and filling. This place doesn’t use MSG, so you don’t leave here feeling disgusting and oily.
My Korean friends took me here and the dolsot bibimbap is so well made. My friend Grace S. says the regular bibimbap is delicious as well. The tofu soup is also very tasty. I love the Korean pancake here. It comes in an order of 3 (so amazing! even as left overs). And let me repeat what
Grace S. said about Kimbap — BEST in philly. They are such hearty rolls with the delicate hint of sesame oil. Yum-​o! This review makes me feel like I should go for dinner!!!
I don’t love the boba drinks here, but my friend swears by the taro one. The options on the menu may be a little limited, but everything b.b.go offers is incredibly well-​made and excellent tasting. I suggest anyone in the mood for Korean food to stop by here!

Great place for an incredibly filling and tasty lunch. I had the tofu bibimbap in a stone bowl and the fried egg, sprouts and cruncy rice from the stone bowl made a great combo with the tofu.
Only downside is how the dish was seasoned as prepared. Add soy, salt, chili sauce to your own taste when you get your food or you probably won’t be thrilled with the flavor profile.

The place smells and can be uncomfortably hot at least on my one and only visit. Other than that the food was very good. Im not a Korean food expert but the two dishes I had were the bees knees. I tried to take the time and look up what those two dishes were but their web site sucks and I couldn’t access the menu. One was a pancake seafood thing and I don’t even remember what the other was. I do remember thinking that the food was good and that it was an exotic treat. I’d try it again but would not go out of my way for it.

Delicious and authentic Korean food. Staff are mostly Korean and (I believe) the owners so they are well equipped to explain everything on the menu. If service is a bit slow its because everything is cooked to order. My personal favorite is the soondubu which is a spicy soup served with rice and kimchi but everything here is great.

I love supporting independent places like this and this one tops my list.
Their menu states that no MSG and additives are used in anything that they prepare and they only use good quality olive oil. I love that.
Too bad some reviewers don’t like this place. I don’t think it was that bad.
Sure it wasn’t super spicy and hot, but who cares? Just add some more Sriracha sauce to your Kim-​Chee. I don’t think a business deserves 1 star just because the sauce wasn’t spicy hot.
Besides, I don’t think this restaurant is totally authentic Korean anyway since it’s a fusion rice bar with a little bit of Japanese thrown in.
This place is next door to my hotel, so I decided to come here.
Falafel Factory closed down, so B.B.Go was my closest option to finding decent vegetarian food.
They have a very interesting menu and they list dishes that I’ve never even heard of.
Ever heard of Bibimbap? What about Pajeon? Japchae? How about Bokeumbap? Me neither.
Feeling adventurous, I ordered the Tofu Bibimbap meaning mixed rice. It was served with sauteed and seasoned vegetables with fried egg. The friendly cashier explained to me that I had to mix the ingredients together before eating and it can be served hot or cold. Well I didn’t follow her instruction because I like to taste the different side dishes that was in my bowl. I don’t think there’s a wrong way of eating it.
When I received my dish, I was pleasantly surprised to see how big it was. It couldn’t finish it ’cause it was huge! It also came with a nice cup of Japanese Miso soup. For $ 10, you get all of that.
The dish was loaded with carrots, mushrooms, bean sprouts, romaine lettuce, sesame seeds and red pepper paste which was quite good and I loved it.

The first time I went to bbgo I devoured the L.A. bulgalbi dubbap. The beef ribs were thinly sliced, but still quite filling and well seasoned.
Recently I tried the beef dol sot bibimbap which was sizzling hot and perfect for a snowy winter’s day. I’ve just started clay pot cooking at home, and was delighted to recognize flavor infused rice sticking nicely to the sides of the hot pot!
Despite the moderately high prices, the food is delicious and the portions are quite large. Plus the service is fantastic, which is the real jaw-​dropper here in Philly! I will be coming back and bringing friends!

B.B.GO = B.B. BEGONE!!!
It was not my intent to eat Korean today. I saw the restaurant while taking a stroll back to the job. My co-​worker had told me about it (only because I’m ½ Korean lol — he’s never eaten there) so I decided to give it a whirl.
I ordered the lunchbox special which came with bland lukewarm chicken in a NOT so even close to being spicy sauce, lukewarm japchae, crunchy decent salad, miso soup (can’t comment… I don’t miso), lukewarm steamed scrambled egg thingy, two flavorless rice balls — each wrapped in a sliver of seaweed, decent kimchee and a side of brown rice. I didn’t eat the entire thing — I just couldn’t stomach it. Total spent for lunchbox & bottle of soda = $ 10.89.
STEER CLEAR OF THIS PLACE!!! Go to Giwa… everything is HOT and freshly prepared! I was very disappointed and I dont’ know WHO the ajumma think she’s foolin’. As with Giwa — they should also have mints for the funky kimchee breath you’re left with after a korean meal. Where are the mints?!
I will say this — the cashier was VERY friendly and had a smile on her face.

I intend to be stingy with the one-​star reviews. But this is a deserving recipient.
I ordered the bibimbap which I did not realize came without tofu. After ordering, I saw the (specifically) tofu bibimbap and asked. The (owner?) was very nice and threw some on — which was a great gesture but the tofu was pretty bad. It was soft steamed and cold. The veggies were likewise cold, since this was not a hot bowl bibimbap. Hot is always by far my preference, but they did not offer it. The veggies were so-​so, and quantity-​for-​price puts the final nail in the coffin of b.b.go.
After paying a premium for mediocre food, I’ve put this place on ye olde ‘do not return’ list.

I got the spicy noodles. It a big cup of ramen noodles. It was embellished with 1 scrambled egg, 1 chewy mushroom fragment, 4 tiny slivers of carrot (I counted them) and a sprinkle of sliced scallion. Yes, they were spicy, yes, it was flavorful, but for almost $ 8 I think I will not go here again.

The menu descriptions & pictures (in store & on web) are misleading, and not representative of the food served at b.b.go. I expected traditional rice dishes, served piping hot and at a fast pace. I was sorely disappointed.
First off, there are no hot pots — and subsequently no raw egg (as advertised through images) in the bibimbap. Bummer. Second, the seasoned tofu was actually cold, raw soft tofu… gross. My bf’s beef bibimbop had a sprinkling of meat, no more than two bites worth.
My guy also ordered the dukbokgi. It had no fish cakes (as advertised), and the rice cakes became rubbery and tough within minutes. These pre-​cooked buggers were most likely microwaved & doused in a watery, bland sauce. Yuck.
I wish they’d remove those delicious looking posters from the walls — they served as a constant reminder of what my food should have looked like.

Come on, b.b. go, you’re messing with us, right?
In essence, Korean fast food. I haven’t been to Giwa, but my heart does lie with Koreana. Same concept, but cheaper, friendlier, and way better food.
If you really feel the need to pay $ 10 for bibimbap, go to Miran.

When I heard about this new fusion rice bar, my heart was all a-​flutter! Finally another lunch time option near Market that didn’t serve up sammies or sushi. Hooray! My hopes were quickly dashed when I realized that the offerings were no more than what Giwa on Samson offers at the same price point with less variety and less quality ingredients (and minus the all-​important stone bowl!)
Opening kinks or not — the stuff is a bit price-​y; the business lunch time wait a bit lengthy; the food not overly spicy (don’t cater down to American taste bud blandness, live it up!) Another business lunch let down. Boo.
Go to Giwa instead.

I was excited for this place, but sorely disappointed. First of all, it took at least ten minutes to get my bibimbap — way too long, especially for the business lunchtime crowd.
Second, they forgot to put the sauce or utensils in my bag, and I didn’t have time to go back for it. Further, the bibimbap had shredded lettuce in it and some strips of Egg Beaters instead of a real egg — for more than $ 11, I’m pretty sure I should get a whole fried or raw egg.
The only good thing that I can say is that they offered brown rice at no extra charge. Otherwise, there are other Korean places within walking distance of my office for less money and with better food.

I thought the portions were small for the price, $ 11 for bibimbap. My dish was missing the egg even though it was in the picture. I ended up eating another meal just a couple of hours later.
Everything tasted fresh, and was good.
