Brother’s Food Market

This place gets its 4 stars purely for having a decent selection of cheap produce – a rare commodity in this «food desert.» Despite offering the healthy stuff, I always come here for my Philly junk food cravings. Here are some of my favorites…
Tastykakes! For some bizarre reason – I find these things irresistable. Little Debbie’s, Hostess, Entenmann’s… they don’t tempt me at all, but I can’t pass up a Tastykake. I have a particular soft spot for Butterscotch Krimpets, Peanut Butter Kandy Kakes, Cream Filled Koffee Kake Cupcakes, and any of the pies.
Day’s Soda. The stuff is dirt cheap. They also have some crazy-​ass flavors including, but not limited to… Pineapple, Watermelon, Green Pop, Blue Pop, Orange Mango, and Champagne Cola (which weirdly tastes like bubble gum). I tend to keep it Philly and go with the Black Cherry Wishniak.
Potato Chips. They do carry Lil’ Romeo’s fine line of Rap Snacks, «The Official Snack of Hip Hop.» Best flavor you ask? I’d go with «Bar-​b-​quin with my Honey» or maybe «Honey Dew Flavored Cheese Curls.» Though I usually stay local and go with Herr’s. Their Jalapeño and their Cheddar Horseradish Kettle Chips are pretty damn tasty.
Peanut Chews. I’m actually not sure if they have these little gems, but they should. I’ll have to look into this.
Overall, it’s a solid convenience store. Nice people work there, it’s cheap, and they always seem to have just what I need.
