This guy is as good as it gets, with his cake skills, that I personally think can compete with anyone’s, It’s obvious that he has building cakes for over 25 years like his flyer said, Really talented guy, also see his pro airbrushed pictures in the café’ they rock as well, really glad I stopped in his personality was great and I really got a feel for what he did and how he customizes to each individual persons needs, weather wedding, birthday, sculptured or whatever, this is the guy for sure, I would super highly recommend Cakes by Kharis, to anyone, I also read a few bad reviews and I don’t know what them people are even talking about they sound like they really do not know what they want and nothing is good enough, and seems like everybody even great companies get some un-​happy people that are never satisfied, because in his case, I’m telling you 5 stars all the way no doubt. Thanks Kharis for all the great cakes and skill we appreciated it. «KEEP ROCKING»

Kharis just made a BEAUTIFUL cake for my friend’s bridal shower! I live down the block and I’ll come in every now and then to check out his masterpieces but this is the first time I’ve had an occasion to order one of these works of art myself. It seriously tasted just as good as it looks and everyone was raving. The order/​pickup process was a breeze. Was able to do everything online and over the phone. Great job all around! Can’t wait to order again!

The baker is super rude !!! He kept mentioning how he’s been baking for 25 years but you wouldn’t have thought so with the way my son’s cake came out.
My boyfriend found him on Unilocal and decided to choose him because his ratings were pretty high. When we went in to place a custom order, it wasn’t how I expected. I assumed the baker would be asking a million questions so that he can get the details right so I made sure i came in with a drawn out picture of what I wanted the cake to look like plus some other similar cakes I found on pinterest that he could use as a guidance. But instead he just looked at the picture I drew and said he could do it. I am very detail oriented and so when he didn’t ask any questions regarding the color, or the size I took over and started just telling him all the details and even wrote it on the picture.
When I went to pick up the cake it was the most sloppy, amateur looking cake ever. So many things were wrong ! Words can’t explain how pissed I was. I pointed out all the flaws to the girl that was there and she even agreed with me, so she called him in.
The minute he got there he was rude, claimed the cake was «beautiful». He wasn’t one bit sympathetic about the mistakes he made. He just rudely said, «what do you want me to do? You want me to just give you the money back and I’ll just take the cake to my family?» I was so furious ! I tried to argue my point but you can’t do that with an idiot.

I called on September 2^nd at 2:46 PM to schedule a cake tasting for my upcoming wedding. I spoke with Kharis for 3 minutes (yup, I have the record on my cell). During the conversation, I asked about setting up an appointment for a cake tasting, he asked what flavors I would like to try, he said they have the basic flavors and if I wanted to try anything outside of that I would need to tell him those flavors before our appointment. I told him the basics were fine, my fiancé loves chocolate so we would definitely want to try that flavor. I also informed him of my nut allergy. He asked my name and «acted» like he was writing it down and we set a date/​time of Sept 23^rd at 6:30 PM. I even asked him if he wanted my phone number because he didn’t ask, to which I gave him.
I called the morning of Sept 23^rd at 9:47 AM to confirm my appointment for the evening and a young girl answered the phone, she said that he wasn’t there but that she would call Kharis and then call me back. At 12:25 PM I called back, because no one returned my call, I got their voicemail. I called back again at 1:01 PM and Kharis picked up. I explained to him that I was calling to confirm my cake tasting for that evening at 6:30 PM. He had no recollection of the conversation nor a record of my appointment. He asked if my fiancé and I could come the next day because he didn’t have any cakes available for us to try. I told him we could not because my fiancé has a meeting. I told him I was glad that I called and just for GP I asked him what would have happened if we would have showed up for our «appointment» at 6:30 PM. He told me they would have been closed… WOW. I’m trying not to become a Bridezilla but I’m starting to understand how they are created.
Kharis told me I could email or text him pictures of what I like and he could send me prices… ummm why didn’t he tell me that on Sept 2^nd? I wrote his cell number down so that I could text him the pictures but I decided to throw the number in the trash. I’m not taking a chance on him. I’m not giving him the opportunity to «forget» to deliver my wedding cake on the day of my wedding… no thanks!
After I got off the phone with him I Unilocaled and found 2 other bakeries (also with great reviews) that I will be contacting instead… I contacted him because of his great reviews on Unilocal hopefully I have better interactions with the other bakeries smdh.

Given the rave reviews, I will be back to give this place a second chance, but this morning was sub par. I stopped in for an iced coffee. The girl running the store, who was watching music videos on the computer meant for customers when I walked in, poured the coffee from a giant plastic vat with a spigot at the bottom, unrefrigerated, into my cup. That’s fine if that is how you store it, but man it does not speak to having high presentation standards. She asked I wanted any creamer, and when I asked for half and half she pulled out a carton of regular milk and heavy cream and was going to just do it herself before I stopped her. When I finally got out of there, I realized there was about half an inch (!!!) of visible coffee grinds at the bottom of my cup. I couldn’t get a grit-​free sip.
Maybe coffee is not their strong suit.

Stopped by here for a second time the chocolate cake with Jamaican rum was delicious! Just found out that they also have a hookah lounge there.

I’ve ordered at least 6 cakes here. Each beautiful and each delicious. Plus he’s a great guy! Every cake I order gets a «wow» when people see it. On top of that the cake is moist and the icing perfect. If you want a great cake and great service — check him out!

I placed an order for a custom TNMT cake for my sons birthday. It was PERFECT. Far more than I expected it to be. Kahris was very personable, responded to my emails in a timely fashion and was an overall pleasure to communicate with. Not only was the design of the cake exactly what I described, but it tasted great. I’ll definitely be coming here for any custom cake needs in the future.

I contacted Kharis to create a custom «U2 Ipod» Cake to give my wife for our 10^th anniversary. He was easy to work with and created a cake that looked exactly as I had pictured/​described it. In addition to the cake looking amazing, it tasted great as well. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Kharis for any custom cake needs as you will be happy you did.

Had the nutella cake and grill cheese with ice green tea. spot on. reasonable prices .friendly service good quality .will return

Had a beautiful chocolate cake with mint icing made by these guys for my girlfriends birthday party. Everyone at the party loved the cake. I’ll be going back here for all my cake needs. They also have a coffee shop and café that you can grab a bite/​coffee when you pick up your cake. Kharis and Josh are very easy to work with — they had my cake ready less than 24 hours after I called it in.

This place is Fantastic! The cakes are delicious, tasteful and apeasing to the eye! All kinds of cakes! Just to name a few… Pink Lemonade, Vanilla Pound Cake, Red Velvet, Thin Mint, Carrot Cake, Rum Cake, Nutella, Lemon, Canoli…

If you want to get a work of art from the real cake boss come here. Cakes are unbelievable and very reasonably priced. Great service too.

We stumbled upon this place a few weeks ago and loved how delicious their cakes were — nicely flavored and not overly sweet. I went back tonight to get some celebratory slices for my fiancé. Awesome service, drool worthy lemon cake and a happy belly. So happy to have found them again!

By far the BEST coffee in Philadelphia. Really cool spot in Northern Liberties. Amazing food and great prices!

I visited this place when I was visiting for my friends birthday. Of course I heard such good reviews so I tried it out, I got my friends birthday cake from here. I told them exactly what I wanted and was pleasantly surprised when it came out exactly how I imagined. My friend was so excited and of course it tasted amazing. So thank you so much, I will recommend you guys to everyone I know!

So psyched that Kharis is now serving breakfast. I had an egg sandwich, but the menu also offered chocolate chip waffles, oatmeal porridge, and Mexican hot chocolate. .. all at affordable prices. (My sandwich & coffee came in under $ 5!) Also a great place to pick up a slice of his beautiful cakes. No $ 3 cupcakes here. :)
