Need a few more soups. Like a hearty one. Today’s were clam chowder and rooted vegetable. Yuck

Salad was drowned in dressing. What a shame because the greens were so fresh. That salad had to go back and the server took it off the bill. Server said I should have asked for dressing on the side. Huh. Really. I thought it was their job to know how to dress a salad? Also had a cup of Manhattan clam chowder that was so skimpy on clams. To top it off we were seated underground(or so it seemed) and could get cell or wifi so could not get some business done that I hoped to accomplish at lunch. Server was AWOL most of the time.

Just came back from a meal with family. I have eaten here a lot over the years, and have never been disappointed. Good food, great customer service, great wait staff, reasonable prices, beautiful décor. What else could one want? We had grilled salmon & salad and pork belly dish. Then to die for banana brioche and italian lemon cake. Thank you!

Waited for a hostess that was nowhere to be found, she finally comes out, is super rude and adds people who came in after us to the wait list after walking right past us.

I have discovered this wonderful place in Chestnut hill! Wow!!! It is definitely deserving of the 5 stars here. Atmosphere is lovely and I couldn’t ask for a better Thai salad. Great service. Great town.

This is one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants. Delicious food — you will always get great service. They’re just a little stingy with the wine-pour. Great salads — huge selection of foods. Just a little too crowded on Sundays…

Went for lunch at Chestnut Grill with a group of girlfriends and had an overall good experience. There were 6 of us, and we were seated right away. We asked for separate checks and they were happy to accommodate us. We sat in the downstairs dining room which was a little too quiet and cold, but I can imagine that this isn’t the case during peak time. It took a little time to get our orders, but the food was absolutely phenomenal! I had a cup of the cream of wild mushroom soup and it was delectable. I was practically licking my bowl clean by the end! I also had a salad. I don’t remember the name of the dish, but it was a large salad with bacon, egg, grilled chicken, and other fixings. It was the biggest salad I think I’ve ever had and all of the flavors came together beautifully. Most everyone at the table had excellent things to say about their meal, minus a friend who had the fish tacos and would have liked a little more seasoning to them. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful and checked on us the perfect amount. I’ll definitely be back, hopefully on a sunny weekend when I can take advantage of the outdoor seating! And when I’m not on a work lunch break and can try some of their dessert cocktails.

I went here for lunch and had to leave because I waited for over an hour for my food and it never came. The service was terrible and I have no comment on the food because it never came.

A friend and I stopped here for lunch and a couple of cocktails. We ate at the bar, and by the time we had our 3rd mimosa, the bartender cut us off indicating restaurant policy only allows each patron to have three drinks maximum. My fiancé owns four restaurants in the area and we have never heard of such nonsense. This would have been understandable had we been loud or obnoxious but this was far from the case. The reason for my visit this day was to consider this location for a bridal shower or possibly another family event; however we will not be returning due to this display. Onlookers who overheard us being cut off for no reason also fumed at this ridiculous explanation from the bartender, cut their lunches short as well and indicated they would never be returning either. I do not recommend if you plan on staying a while and enjoying mimosas or any other alcoholic beverage with friends. The owners really need to get a grip on such ridiculous rules.

The service was phenomenal. Our waitress, I don’t remember her name, worked really hard. She was diligent and checked our table every couple of minutes. That was the best part of the visit. But, don’t waste your time getting the fish tacos because they are awful. And don’t get the Washington State Reisling because it’s awful. Instead, get the B&B Burger. My niece loved hers. If you can sit outside, go for it. It was very relaxing.

Had a good lunch here with quick and friendly service despite the restaurant being quite busy. Large menu with many predictable but good options(sandwiches, burgers, salads). Seated inside in «lower level» which was fine but a bit noisy with several large parties. Only complaint is location of host station is hard to find and consequently it took a while to get seated. After we wandered into hotel and waited near bar to be seated(to no avail as we were ignored by bartender and waiters working area for the entire time we stood there) we eventually found our way to the host by which time we were behind many more parties.

The best bloody mary I ever had was here and made with bacon infused vodka and garnished with a piece of bacon and the best part is that it was only $ 8. The rest of the meal was inventive and delicious and I will always return to a place that I can eat well and get more than basics.

Great service, lovely area. Great for lunch. Fair price. Tends to get crowded on the weekends. Their appetizers of the Nacho is so large, that a party of 4 couldn’t even finish it! Recommend the Calamari(ask to make it extra crispy), Thai salad, coconut shrimp, & the Napa wings.

We ate dinner here this past Friday evening because we were staying at the inn and going out onto the unshoveled sidewalks in search of another restaurant just wasn’t appealing. We were seated promptly downstairs, unfortunately by a restless tired toddler(there were plenty of open tables). Our waiter was average, nothing special but sufficient. We ordered drinks and pondered the large menu. I opted for the B&B burger as did my daughter and our friend ordered the Mendocino salad minus the scallions. I ordered my burger medium and my daughter ordered hers medium well. I also ordered fruit instead of fries which was no problem to accommodate. Food came out fairly quickly and everything was good. My only complaint was the doneness of the burgers. Mine was medium well atleast, not a trace of pink and my daughters was well done.

I’ve been going to the Chestnut Grill for many years, and I mean this the best possible way: the Chestnut Grill is like a loyal friend. The Grill’s overall menu is consistent and quite good. I’ve always found the drink specials innovative and delicious. I recently had dinner at the Grill with a friend. The bruschetta appetizer changes daily. On the night of my visit it was roasted pear and Gorgonzola with a balsamic reduction. I also had the shrimp bisque and the mussels with white wine sauce. I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner. The shrimp bisque was especially delicious. It was rich, creamy and full of flavor and actual shrimp. The mussels with white wine at the Chestnut Grill are my favorite anywhere! The sauce is full of flavor with the wine, lemon, and garlic. Each component makes the dish well balanced without overpowering the overall dish. The Grill only takes reservations for large parties. Even though my friend and I arrived at 7:00 p.m. on a Friday night, we were seated promptly. Our server got us drinks right away. Our food came out promptly and was piping hot. Our server even brought us a fresh basket of hot bread without us having to ask for it. I look forward to my next visit at the Grill.

It’s… ok. Just ok. I wasn’t really wowed with our experience at the Chestnut Grill. I don’t know that I’d go back really. At least not to eat dinner anyways. Definitely seems like a nice bar to grab a drink and maybe get some bar food. But otherwise, it’s not a very memorable place. The food was decent, the service was, meh. Prices were pretty much in line with the area(a little pricey, but not outrageous like dining downtown). I opted for a burger, which was cooked correctly, but lacked flavor. My fiancé had the pasta dish with chicken, which was a nice healthy portion, but was kind of bland. I honestly think there are better options for dinner in Chestnut Hill(see: Osaka, Paris, Stella Sera, Mica, Heirloom). For this type of food, I’d drive down to Manayunk and eat at the likes of Beast and Ale or The Goat’s Beard. For a quick drink though, Chestnut Grill would most likely suffice

Great salads. Had lunch there and both of us had salads. Chicken ceasar and Mongolian beef(I think). Excellent. We sat outside in the recently spruces up ‘fare way’ which eas really pleasant. Service was good. No complaints.

I love being served by teenagers. From the hostess to the bar… Nothing like children serving you. After my second drink I was told I «have to order food» After 5 years of visiting this establishment(not by choice) I find it silly and embarrassing that even when staying at the hotel it’s mandatory to order food if you exceed 2 drinks. This is supposed to be a high brow establishment, yet teenagers serve you and demand you pay manhattan prices for food, should you be enjoying yourself. Also these young kids are obviously eating all of the food here and ignore the guests. I grew up in this neighborhood. Worked at spa Elysium and 3000bc for YEARS. I’ve given this place years of business… Yet never had shittier treatment for such a high price.

I really enjoy C.H.G. I have meetings here also. I only get their Catfish. It is simply delicious. The wait staff is good. I enjoy sitting outside during the summer months. There isn’t much seating upstairs so you have to go down these spiral steps and they are scary.

5 star for a hotel restaurant you say? I’ve dined here 3 or 4 times. Yesterday was for restaurant month where I had a huge appetizer, huge entrée and dessert for $ 25. The cocktails are not watered down as is typical of the city, Other times I’ve had great experiences. All 5 star food-wise as well as fully trained waitstaff. And for the most part the prices are reasonable. Add to that al fresco dining with heating. You just can’t go wrong.
