Thank you D! D! for bringing life to (wards) my neighborhood of Cobbs Creek (I’m just past the scared white folk threshold but you help quell the fears.) I’m glad to hear that you will be expanding your horizons to a merch store next door (formerly YoungLove’s.) Though I do wish the basement venue wasn’t quite so dank. My sinuses and my earholes generally have to duke it out to sit through a whole set down there. And I can’t hear so good when my airways close up.
But I can’t hold it against you, every time I come there I feel like I’m kicking LiveNation in the nards, and I really want to kick them in the nards.

DIY OR DIE!
Fucking great that people got off their asses and make shit happen huh? Some of the best shows slip under the radar over in west philly. You’d be a fool not to go. May i reccomend grabbing a growler of beer from Dock Street across the street and drinking it during the whole show.

I have to agree with most of the posts here about Danger Danger. It is definitely an experience to be had in W. Philly. The bands had great performances and the crowds were having a good time, which I see as a good sign.
Coming from a sober POV, it is full of young hipsters, drinking large 40’s (including Budweiser). It’s BYOB, with a deli about a block away with
beer take out.
The crowd flow is well done from room to room for each band and the place is relatively litter free inside, everyone does their part. That being said, I was there on a FREEZING January night, walking up and down stairs I could barely see and dealing with smoked out rooms and high volume sound systems. Come prepared.
Well worth the visit with friends for some great music.
Be advised, as the night gets later taxis are few and far between and DD sits on the border of a shady area of Philly where you shouldn’t be lingering too long or alone.

I think I’m too old for this place. Or too clean. I did see my friends’ band play one of the best shows I have seen them play to date here, but overall I thought the place was gross. The place was hot and smelly and so were the people there.

BIZARRE. I loved it though.
Danger Danger isn’t so much a gallery as an awkwardly laid out house. You enter through a door on Baltimore Ave, immediately climb a stair case, walk a few steps, then climb back down another staircase to street level where they collect a $ 5 – 10 donation (the night I was there at least), mark your hand with a Sharpie, and let you into what appears to be an undecorated home.
There’s one bathroom and not much ventilation. I can’t even imagine how unbearable a show here in the summer would be.
Nevertheless, the show effing ROCKED. Moon Women, The Spooks, The Strange Boys, some-band-I-didn’t-stick-around-to-see-because-The-Strange-Boys-were-unreal-and-I-didn’t-really-care-after-that.
Are there better small venues in the city? Yes. Danger Danger seems to attract some great bands though. They must be doing something right!

Saw Dangerous Ponies here. Great show. A nice place to see a band. Cost is usually 3 to 5 bux. I’d probably be careful if i was walking a few blocks further west, but the block it’s on is nothing to worry about. Check it out!

Overall, a fun venue and a great place to see DIY show! Organizers seem to be nice and friendly and it’s never over $ 10 to get in, can’t complain about that.
The crowd can be interesting depending on the night, if you’re not into crowds of drunken hipsters I advise that you bring a friend or two since you’ll be surrounded in them.
I’ve had mixed experiences with their PA system, sometimes it’s ok, sometimes it’s inaudible, but it’s a very DIY place and some might say that adds to the appeal.
Overall, always a fun time, hope to see more shows here.

Located in West Philly, this house party type music venue is mediocre. I enter, walk upstairs… only to find myself going downstairs again. I pay. Get a black (permanent) marker check mark on the topside of my hand, which took a few days to finally wash off!, and enter Danger Danger.
There were quite a few bands playing. The band we came to see played towards the end. There are 2 music rooms, one down in the basement (think cave) and one above the basement.
I was forewarned about hipster body odor but was pleased to not have to confront that… or maybe I am growing accustomed to the ever-​growing hipster population and the fumes they leave?
It was an interesting venue to experience but I really don’t think I’ll be coming back. Plus, what’s the point of trekking over to West Philly, only to know that the cops will eventually kick everyone out?!

Average DIY concert space, and certainly nothing remarkable. I had the misfortune of being waylaid by a couple of collegiate drug jockeys, one of whom wanted to talk about the spaces between his fingers. He also encouraged me to «lend» him a beer. He seemed like one of the cooler dudes around, which might be kind of a drag if you want to socialize.
The sound wasn’t mixed well. Vocals were nearly inaudible. A shame, for instance, when you intend to groove to feel-​good lyrics like: All the world’s leaders must die/​Hanged efficiently hemp rope. But it was nice and loud and enthusiastic. So 3 stars.

Danger Danger is pretty great in its new home. I really enjoy going to a show there. It is small enough to still have that house show feel, but large enough to hold a big group of people. I have only been turned away once because they were too full. However, the small space has its downfalls. While seeing The Slits a couple of months ago, some ass punched me in the back of the head on purpose. regardless, that shouldn’t reflect on the venue. They have great shows right in my neighborhood and they charge extremely reasonable prices to see them. If you haven’t already, check them out.

It’s no secret that I love a good house show. So needless to say that when my favorite house venue, Danger Danger House had to stop doing shows I was feeling kind of down. of course I understood the reason — their name was getting big! and the bigger the name the bigger the burden, and in the case of a venue that you’re living in that can be a hard situation to handle after awhile.
But instead of officially going down for the count like most in their situation would, The Danger Danger crew picked themselves up, and found themselves a spot not too far away that could do a better job of holding shows. Not only did they do that but they worked on renovating and fixing it up properly by themselves too. and they did all of that while working on their music too (check out Grandchildren, and one of the many bands that I’ve been happy to interview, Red Rocket if you haven’t yet). and to think that Philebrity had the audacity to recently imply that they were a bunch of trustfunders. Pompous idiots!
I had the chance to see Pony Pants and Shooting Spires play the 2^nd show that happened here last night. and I have to say that Danger Danger is on the verge of being better than ever. There are still some significant kinks to work out. There were times that I could feel the reverb pounding my rib cage. and there were times that the guitar and drums droned out the vocals. but it was only the 2^nd show so it should be worked out with time. and it was still a great show with plenty of bands that could have graced any venue, but played as close to the fans as possible instead.
Got to give it up for the art too. there was all kinds of tapestries, portrait style paintings, and crazy a huge design of viral tanks on canvas. I didn’t get the chance to find out who did them yet. But they have ties to a LOT of Philly artists over there, and I definitely recognized a lot of the styles. Art should be changing as much of the bands do too!
So it’s easy to say that in Danger Danger House’s wake another great spot has emerged. and it’s right across from Satellite Café and Dock Street Brew Pub? did I mention how much I love West Philly yet?
