So sad this place closed. Had been going here since I was 16. They served the community well! It was a great ride! Enjoy retirement!

The best soul food in Germantown. The portion are large and the service is very friendly. You must give it a try.

Besides the eerie security measures this place is a sure shot for the best soul food in Germantown. The portions are huge and good for the price. Me and my girlfriend ordered the tilapia platter and split it as if it was two meals. The food was banginnnn! Seasoning was just right, it was like my mom made it, but better. The sweet potato and collard greens were sent from heaven and the fried tilapia was on point. Definitely will be coming back.

I have been to this place several times and have gotten take out. Some of the best food in the city. You get great sized portions that are cooked to order and always consistent. The baked sweet potatoes or yams are the best I’ve ever had. I love the fish and chicken. I like them because not all their food is fried. You can get grilled or baked dishes as well. The place is small, but the staff is always friendly and attentive.

Let me first start off by saying that their prices are very reasonable considering the portion size. Ive never eaten inside the establishment but as soon as you walk in there is a counter for take out. I have been here at least 3 times and each time was greeted by different pleasant individuals, never pushy or attitudy. I usually get the same when i come which is bbq chicken wings(nice size, close in size to turkey wing), baked mac and cheese(i think has 3 real cheeses in it, no cheese wiz crap lol) and a baked sweet potato the size of the average woman’s hand, with butter cinnamon and sugar mmmm(salivating just thinking bout it lol). I usually get 2 meals out of one platter, so if you go for lunch you’ll have enough left over for dinner :) for 10.75 i got a platter that came in two containers… This is definitely the places to go if you want that home cook taste without the arm and a leg prices, alway served with a smile, couldn’t ask for anything more… So if you are in the germantown area this the places to stop for dinner, lunch or just dessert(wide selections of cakes, slices are big enough to share) ;)

I tried this place for the first time based on reviews on Unilocal and was pleasantly surprised. I am very familiar with GOOD soul food and they didn’t disappoint. I just ordered some whiting fish and bread pudding but they were both delicious. They don’t skimp on the portions and what I ordered was great. You definitely get your monies worth. I will definitely be back to try some other items on the menu but so far I think this will be my new soul food spot. I ordered to go but peaked in the dining room and it does look a little cramped so I will likely just get takeout. Also, I called about a half hour early to order and when I arrived my food was just coming up. The cashier seemed a bit overwhelmed and needed a lot of direction. It was a bit chaotic but overall the staff was very friendly and accommodating so I just bared with it. Good local place to support if you’re in the mood for some good soul food.

This is a great, rather small, spot. I almost hesitate to bring it attention because it may make it even more difficult for me to get a seat. It has a very ambitious menu which has always delivered for me. I am very impressed with the«down home» catfish & shrimp. They serve a giant yam or sweet potato with butter and maple /brown sugar that makes a great appetizer /meal /dessert. They permit BYOB, although they do not serve pork, their smoked turkey collard greens are still excellent. The wait staff is very friendly and I will go again at my next opportunity. Leave your diet at home.

A PLACETHATREMINDSYOUOFGRANDMOM’S HOMECOOKING One word can some up this place… AMAZING. Their food seems not only to satisfy ones hunger, but the soul… They know how to make true soul food. The place is small, but there food portion is huge and can satisfy anyones hunger. I feel that they have captured not only how to make a meal, but make a great meal. The staff is friendly, and courteous which seem to spawn from the owners, which I have had the pleasure of meeting Diana.(Sweet heart of woman) My favorite meal from there is the chicken Fettucine Alfredo, which might soon be yours once you have tried this meal. I wish more restaurants sold more on the quality of their food rather then their APPEARANCE. Only draw back, but not really, is how long it takes to get your food. However remember their food is made from scratch ANDWELLWORTHTHEWAIT. So bring any empty stomach to this place and eat up

Really great foods. This is Soul Food at it’s best and most convenient. I mean the cuisine is so so so good. I’ve so much of the menu I feel like it’s hard to go wrong. The desserts are good. but if you aren’t eating in the dining room, you have to order early. They run out of items regularly. I’ll saw that take-out service is a little slow. but, when you get your platter home and see how much food they give you. You won’t care how long it takes to make. Their Bread pudding is so succulent and delicious. They have limited business days and when ordering be mindful of price. It can get a bit high when adding sides and desserts. Other than that, I really enjoy D&T’s and look forward to trying something new every time I patronize it. Highly recommended.

The food is off the chain — turkey chops? Never heard of them until I tried them here. My favorite is the catfish with mac & cheese, collards. For dessert — the killer sweet potato. Not the place to go if you’re trying to watch your weight because they give you more than enough food for a decent price. Give yourself some time to dine because everything is made to order.

The service was slow and the food left a lot to be desired. I am a fan of soul food, but this place missed the mark. I felt like most of the menu items were overpriced for what they were. Maybe I went there at a bad time, because this place seems to be busy a good amount of the time.

If you are a Soul Food fan, you need to go to Diane and Tom’s. This tiny(and I do mean tiny, the dining room can’t seat more than 25) restaurant needs more press because its food is amazing. I have tried a lot of things on the menu but now, each time I get the same thing: the seared salmon with yams and greens on the side. I have never had a bad experience at Diane and Tom’s. The service is always great, though on a «crowded» day, the one waitress might be a little slow. It is such a nice place to go when you want to relax and not be rushed. After you finish your food, you will feel like you can’t move. They give you huge portions but you have to save room for the chocolate cake! If I could give them 6 stars, I would.
