I have been a FAITHFUL customer at the Frankford Ave location for almost 2 years. My daughter attends parochial school, so they are one of the approved uniform locations. However, after today’s incident, I will be taking my business elsewhere. It began with a shoe purchase for my daughter on the afternoon of 2÷8÷16. The young man that assisted me then was very professional. The next day(2÷9÷16), my daughter wore the new shoes to school. When I picked her up after school on 2÷9÷16, she complained that the tongue of the oxfords(they were navy blue oxfords by White Cross) were rubbing against the top of her foot badly — bad enough that the area was cherry red and painful. On 2÷10÷16, I called the store and a young lady answered. I explained the situation with my daughter’s foot and that I wanted to exchange the shoes when I got off from work for another brand of oxford. The young lady then put the store manager on the phone. Once he got on the phone, it went downhill from there. After explaining again what the shoe did to my 6 year old daughter’s foot, he began sputing me down with an abrasive tone of voice, telling me «there was no way that shoe did that to her», to «she needs to break the shoe in; it needs to be stretched». I emphasized to Mr. Rudeness that the tongue of the shoe is what caused her pain and redness; what reason would a kid have to lie about uncomfortable shoes… and stretching it is NOTTHESOLUTION –I just want an exchange! He then told me I could bring the shoes, but added: «make sure you bring your child with you, too». As if I needed to VERIFY she had an issue with the shoes… fast-forward to later that day, I brought the shoes in and met the manager face-to-face. He was still abrasive and tried to talk over me every time I made a point about the defective shoe(he probably tried to talk over me to prevent the other customers in the store from hearing what I had to say). Nonetheless, the shoes were exchanged, but I promise you this: I will be taking my hard-earned dollars a few blocks down Frankford Ave to spend at Flynn O’Hara. I’m not going to put up with unprofessional small businesses when they need YOU as the consumer… not the other way around
