This is a local husband and wife team, John and Karla Doyle, who build high quality custom cabinetry from their Philadelphia wood shop. Im writing this review so others might have an easier time finding them then I did. Currently they are redesigning and building the kitchen cabinets for my Germantown Farmhouse Victorian that has been destroyed by previous low budget, low taste renovations. They have gone to great lengths to make sure I was happy with the layout and final product of my cabinets. As my contractor says, «You couldn’t have bought this kind of quality in any store.» They are heavy duty high grade plywood box construction, Blumotion soft close technology, framed, inset with raised panels and a sherwin Williams finish. Similar to the Greenfield cabinet lines that I was offered. I also looked at Plain and Fancy cabinets but decided to keep my money local to Philadelphia. It’s worked out very well because instead of a designer who comes to measure once or twice at the beginning of a job I have the actual cabinet builder, John, on site throughout the process making measurements and design suggestions as I make the changes that usually come up when you are working with an old home. Something that I find unbelievably valuable when you are adding insulation, taking down walls and moving plumbing and stoves. I was able to match the paint color to the trim of my house, visit the wood shop repeatedly to see the cabinets being built, and made «little» tweaks here or there. Thanks John and Karla!!! I really could not have done this without you. I hope others follow in my footsteps and support this really cool local business. They can do any style from traditional to super contemporary and John has a degree in wood science so he is very informative when you are trying to make a decision. Karla is by his side building and painting. Plus when I was in a bind she actually came over to install the lower cabinets in time for the granite to be measured. Karla is hardcore. Congrats to this couple for their commitment to their artistry I feel so lucky to benefit from it. Cheers!
