The food is amazing here. I love their carnitas and the chips and dip they give you before your meal. But don’t eat too much of those, you’ll need the space for your actual meal. They give you enough to last you for lunch and dinner the next day! I don’t know why this place is always empty but better for me!

Adiós hombres, I win! I drove past this stink hole today and low and behold it was no longer there. There was some construction going on and me thinks a deli of some sort is going in(which is exactly what this city needs!)

Ok I am docking them a star. I am not sure why but they are starting to lose their touch. My salsa was runny, and my chalupa was soggy with a sad looking slice of tomato that looked like it had be frozen & thawed crowning the dish. I was not impressed by the quesadilla tonight either. The guacamole was good as always though. Yet most likely I will chock it up to an off night and go back.

Been going to El Azteca since it first opened and have never been disappointed. The margaritas are great and the fajitas big enough to share. Service is always friendly and the prices are very reasonable, given these tough economic times. If you have a hankering for Mex, this is the place to go. P&M

I work right around the corner from El Aztecas, so naturally I’ve given it a try a few times for lunch. It has disappointed every time. On my first day of work I noticed the restaurant and immediately made a note to myself to give it a try. I love Mexican Food, and(since I live in South Philly and spent a good amount of time in L.A.) have gotten spoiled with delicious Authentic Mexican over the past few years. Azteca was my only hope for the real deal in NE Philly. I’ve tried Las Margaritas and the Mexican Post, and they’re both a little too«Ortega» for me. So exactly three times I have gotten a hankering for Mexican food at lunch that needed satisfying even against my better judgment. Each time I’ve gone to El Azteca, and sent myself back to work feeling incredibly sick, no doubt due to the cheap ground beef they use and the ridiculous amount of salt they put in their food. And I mean ridiculous. The prices are steep when compared with the cheaper, higher quality, Mexican food establishments in South Philly. Now granted, I have only been there for lunch, so maybe they bring out the quality at night, or maybe you just need a few Coronas to counterbalance that salt.
