My husband and I had a Mexican craving on a Mid-Saturiday afternoon. We had previously been unsatisfied with other mexican food places that had delivered(I had Mexican Post the night befire and the fod arrived cold) So I did some research and found this place that delivered. I have to say it took over an hour to get our food delivered… terrible feeling when you are starving! The food itself was prett darn good. My husband had a chicken buritto which apperead to be pretty big and filling. I had the Mexican Chicken(kind of like fajitas but with a kick as it is made with jalapenos) I have to say I was impressed. Now I also ordered a chicken Huarache(never heard of them before so I thought I’d try) it was ok… probably better if it was warm. I would reccomenf this place if you are craving Mexican Food but order at lease 1.5 hourse before you will be starving.

«No, Señora.» I’m all for a rejuvenating siesta. But waiting over two hours for dog food delivery? Granted the delivery guy told me he was sorry. They only have one delivery person. And I only had one birthday, which I spent fielding excuses from Huarache Headquarters and waiting for the damn order to arrive. Guess whose needs I cared about more. Guess! Correct, only my own. Selfish? Probably. Their kind offer of a free, 2-liter bottle of neon orange soda did little to dampen my fury, and nothing to make the food edible. Avoid.

El Huarache is open til midnight and that’s the story of how we met. Delivery. Huaraches for close-to midnight snack? You could do a lot worse. I had never tried a huarache before. Research shows that they’re named after a Mexican sandal. Thick masa dough blended with black beans, roughly in the shape of some 13-inch-footed person’s espadrille is fried then topped with your choice of salsa verde o roja, queso fresca, y crema. We tried the one Oaxaca cheese variety with roja and we tried one with pork and verde. Both were tasty and hit the snack spot though the cubes of pork were porky yet plain. I also preferred the slightly spicier red salsa and I would have liked to have more of it. I know that you don’t need to constantly be reminded the fact that I require extra sauce at all times. Still, noting that fact, I do think that these huaraches need extree. We also sampled a tinga quesadilla. A tinga fan, I am, but this«tinga» was cut into hefty chunks insteada the shredded, stewed juiciness to which I am accustomed. So…I probably won’t tinga again with El Huarache, but I do want to try more huarache varieties. I think I saw a breakfast style sandal. I’m interested. And extra salsa on the side, don’t forget. OK.
