You know those places that only do one dish well and they do it really well? Well this is one of those places, except they don’t know it and nobody else knows it. It’s probably because they call themselves a pizza joint but they’re actually a chicken cutlet joint in disguise. Came here with coworkers and they ordered the pizza… obvious choice. Not a big fan of pizza so I ordered the chicken parm with broccoli rabe and sweet potatoes. They said the pizza was just alright but my chicken parm was ridiculous. The potato was some kind of crazy gmo mutant dikembe mutumbo sweet potato, the server needed two hands to hold my dish since the potato was so damn big. The chicken was tender as a duffel bag of hundred dollar bills(get it?) and the broccoli rabe was some of the best that I’ve ever had. Change your name to Famous Famiglia Chicken Parm.

Most of time I went to this place for a rush meal. It’s a good place for grabbing food and go in Penn campus. They made similar pizzas every day, price is cheap and taste ok. I personally don’t recommend their spaghetti. It’s just a bit overprice in it’s quality.

I’ve only had the pizza, so I can’t comment on anything else. The pizza is ok if you’re taking to to a place that has an oven of some kind. Otherwise don’t bother because it will be really undercooked. You can tell them to leave it in the oven longer but I think that only gets you 3 additional seconds.

It’s edible, but sort of pricey being that it isn’t very good. Fresh slices always seem underdone. I always go right to the garlic, oregano, pepper flakes and parmesan because the pizza alone lacks flare(taste). They sometimes have a margherita with fresh? Mozarella. Canned mushrooms are a disappointment and any slices with meat tend to make me feel a bit sluggish after. Honestly, I go here if I am really craving pizza, only because it is the only place located centrally on campus, and slightly better/cheaper than Houston Market.

I eat here for lunch every once in a while. It’s in a food court with 3 or 4 other restaurants and usually has no line. The lack of line isn’t because their food is bad… it’s not terrible… but it’s due to good, fast service. That’s the plus. The negative is the food is completely unexciting. It’s good, but it’s not really great, it’s just food. It’s kind of like watching Wheel of Fortune. It’s not exactly terrible, but it’s not a show you’re really going to go out of your way to DV-R. So I guess I recommend Famous Famiglia Pizzeria for those obsessed with WOF. Side note: I just found out that if you order a sandwich or a pasta dish you get a free soda. Not a bad deal.

The pizza here is in the little Moravian food court that remains. Pizza is popular, but really I liked their garlic knots. until they changed the recipe and now not nearly as good =( Crust here can be burnt… as it was the last time I tried it. Ah, well.

I have to say that honestly, I’m feeling a little bitchy about this place. The girl right in front of me in line ordered the last slice of Hawaiian pizza, the only thing I really had my heart set on. No more Hawaiian piza, the little dude behind the counter told me. And so I had a slice of pepperoni and sausage(protein, you know) and I was ill for the rest of the day. The crust was not that good, and the toppings were sub-par. I guess this is what you get from food court pizza, though. I always belived that there was no such thing as Bad Pizza(I’ve been known to enjoy pizza from Chuck E. Cheese’s) but this is truly Bad Pizza. Sorry.

Jen’s review reminded me that I never reviewed this place. Penn’s food court contains a bunch of garbage places to eat: Quiznos, this pizza place, some Root Beer hamburger stand, and an ice cream spot that also serves terrible greek food. The pizza place claims the dough is made from«NYC water.» What the hell? Do they ship it in? It’s not as if they make the dough in NY and then ship it as they state that the dough is made on premises with NYC water. hahaha. Is that enough of a reason to stay away? If not, bad, overpriced pizza should be.

Pizza Famiglia is in a little food court with a bunch of other fast food restaurants next to the CVS on Walnut Street in University City. I’ve had lunch here a few times, mainly due to the convenience of its location. It’s pretty much the typical fast food version of pizza, like you’d find in a mall; Better than delivery chains like Domino’s, but inferior to pretty much any real pizza place. It’s not bad, it’s just not good… and you certainly won’t save any money by eating here.
