Highly recommend that you take your bike somewhere else for repairs. This place is very high and does not stand behind their work. Took my sons bike in for a tune up and they charged me $ 90 some odd dollars. They said they would change the brake lines chain and brake pads. I thought it was high but paid it anyway. A month later my sons rear brake line snapped a broke. This has never happened to him as long as he’s been riding bikes or me for that matter and I’m 42 years old and ride a police bike everyday for a living. They would not stand behind it and told me they only replaced the front brake line and not the rear. That’s not what they told me when I took it in and damn near $ 100 for a tune up on a $ 200 dollar bike. Won’t see me again. Gimme good old fashion Jays Pedal Power over these new yuppie bike joints any day of the week.

I was sad to learn that the Bike Stable was closing, which is a loss for the neighborhood. However, not surprised they steered me towards Transport Cycles for the help I needed with my bike. These guys seem like the same nice and helpful service that Bike Stable was. I just needed a minor adjustment on my bike and they fixed it up right away and didnt charge me when I asked how much I owed them. Im glad theyre my new bike shop. Looks like they also have a great inventory of bikes and if I overheard correctly, they charge a reasonable tune-up fee. I’ll be back soon.

I got my bike tune up here. They were done over a weekend and gave me a very reasonable price. Everything went very smooth. I’m glad they are in the neighborhood. The folks working are down to earth and helpful.

I stopped in here to buy two bikes for my daughters. They were new to riding bikes. The staff was incredibly helpful, kind, and patient. The bikes we bought were perfect for our girls. They even let us step into the workroom so we could watch as they took the training wheels off. So excited that they have moved to Fishtown and can’t wait to go back.

I stopped by today for the first time ever. I’ve been missing out! These guys are incredibly nice. Prices are fair and the service area looks fit for any and all challenges that might be wheeled in.

Just bought a Brooklyn Bike Co city bike here. There was some trouble that was no fault of the store’s but they were nice, professional, and helpful in resolving it. They work quickly and it’s in general, a friendly place. Good selection of city bikes, helmets, and other accessories.

Best place to go… Extremely affordable. I brought in a bike I purchased from an estate sale. Had a couple issues which I explained… The gentleman behind the counter stop what he was doing took the bike and took care of it right away. I was hesitant at first because he didn’t give me a price before working. Probably should ask but whatever. He charged me no more the $ 12 to replace tire for some alignment issues. I walked out happy and feeling blessed I stop there. Been riding for two months ever since… Best wishes

A dream come true for fans of European and family/cargo bikes. These guys are super friendly and also have the ability to custom weld for special projects. A one of a kind shop. They carry brands like Workcycles, Bobike, Yepp, Abus(full selection of locks including frame/wheel locks), Xtracycle, Gazelle, and others.

My bike’s chain had two busted links and so i needed a replacement. Thinking i could get one cheaper on Amazon, I did a quick search and saw one for like $ 9. I called this shop and the guy said he had some for only $ 8, which I was surprised by. So I stopped by and picked it up and i told him i’d been having trouble with my chain popping off, and he took a look at my bike and saw that the chain was too loose, the back wheel wasnt positioned correctly and a few other things that i had no idea about, being that i’m a bit of a novice. I was so thankful i decided to stop in rather than purchasing it on amazon. Side Note: He’s an English guy who had New Order playing and we talked about him seeing New Order and The Happy Mondays back in Manchester in the 80s which was pretty rad. I’ll definitely come back for all of my bike maintenance/new wave music chit chat needs.

Definitely the best bike shop in Philly. The owners/employees are all so friendly and extremely helpful. I bought a new bike here recently and have had absolutely no regrets. On top of that, they even let me return with my bike a month after my purchase and did a free tune-up. Awesome shop.

Needing some wheel-work and new bar-tape, I decided to roll into Transport Cycles and see what these guys were all about. The space was incredibly well put together, both aesthetically and functionally. Beautiful floors, counters, and displays helped me realize that whoever designed the space knew exactly what they were doing. The ‘Brooks’ style aesthetic and classic cycling vibe was very appealing to myself, who rides year round and tours considerably. Specializing in European style cargo bicycles for the modern sustainable business and family, this shop offers unique options for every type of rider. From beautiful city cruisers to hybrid commuters and of course, incredible European style cargo bikes. Learning that one of the owners spent a considerable amount of time in Holland was no surprise, the culture fostered by Transport Cycles is that of a truly sustainable lifestyle, revolving around pedal powered transport for all occasions whether it be personal, family or business. This spot is legit. The work performed was moderately priced and quality. The selection of merchandise is on point and they went out of their way to select only items worth purchasing. This is a business run by true cycling bosses who’s only«sales pitch» is that they want you to ride a bicycle, and look cool as hell while doing it.

It is my pleasure, with my first Unilocal review, to praise the great service that I received at Firth & Wilson. I came in just looking to pick up a couple of tubes, but left with a resolution to a major issue with my bike. I have had issues with my seat post since I got it off craigslist a few years ago. Without going into gory details, it basically got to point where I couldn’t ride without having to constantly adjust the saddle. Other bike shops that I visited we’re unable to resolve the problem. I asked one of the mechanics/owners(I believe it was Simon) if he could offer his opinion regarding my predicament. He immediately threw my bike up on the repair stand and started tinkering. He exhausted every possible option to solve the problem and seemed like he actually took a lot of joy in cracking the puzzle. An hour or so later and my seat post was fixed! He also spent a decent amount of time inspecting my bike to make sure that the scratches on the frame were nothing major, and assured me that my bike was fit to ride. Philly is filled with a lot of great bike shops, but this one has impressed me the most with its friendly customer service and superior knowledge of bike frames. Other places might carry more accessories or have a better selection of bikes, but from a mechanics point of view, you can’t beat these guys.

Friendly, courteous, and the staff has a visible love of bikes. This is one of the best shops in the city. From fixing a flat to building a custom frame this shop covers every repair you could ever need. Simon, Vicky, and Dave are all passionate about cycling and focus their product line on commuter and utility cycling. They are professional, courteous, and have high standards for the work they do. A good looking bike shop right on the Spring Garden bike line. Also they are the only official Brooks saddle repair center in North America. This shop can literally fix anything. A great place to shop for a new bike(especially if you don’t have a car) or to service the one you already own. Three cheers for Firth & WIlson Cycles!

My fellow cargo and family cycling enthusiasts, our day has come… Philadelphia finally has a bike shop for us! The friendly folks at Firth and Wilson currently stock a few hard-to-find brands like Xtracycle and Civia. They also carry two different models of bakfietsen… if you know what one is, you know why this is fabulous news. As for mechanic service, given that their specialty is cargo and city bikes, you’d surmise that F&W might know a thing or two about internally-geared hubs. Indeed they would. I stopped by for a second opinion when my Dutch bike developed a shifting problem that left even Via’s pro mechanics scratching their heads. The next day they had my cranky 5-speed shifting just like new. The labor charge was very reasonable too.
