Ever since the Big Green Earth Store went out of business, I was devastated to not have an eco-​friendly gift shop in the city. However, GreenDesign now has a home on the Chestnut Hill end of Germantown Avenue, and I’m glad they do. They carry everything from clothes and accessories to kitchenware, furniture, and home décor. The only thing I miss is the detergent refills, but on the whole, I’m thrilled that Chestnut Hill, though a bit far removed from the city, can encourage its residents and visitors to care for the world just through the gifts they purchase.
