Great local pizza joint. Thin crust, flavorful, and they’re always super nice and friendly offering the occasional free slice or cup of tea. Try the Grandma Pizza!

Dined in and ordered take out for years here. Great food here only one complaint is the buffalo wings are watery and do not taste good here at all.

I stopped in this place to grab a quick bite. I didn’t have any cash on me and this was the only place nearby that wasn’t cash only. I felt bad only buying a $ 3 slice on my card but the guys were cool about it and even threw in a free slice of their house specialty pizza. Great service and the pizza was delicious.

There is something about ordering lunch delivery in this area. I normally go into this location and never had a problem but ordering a delivery is another story. I haven’t received a correct order yet. This last time it was totally wrong too busy during a work day to have to worry about getting your lunch replaced after you paid for a cheesesteak hoagie extra meat and receive a regular cheesesteak. I guess if I dare to order out it will remain with Angelino’s the only place that has not delivered a wrong order. I am sure I will only be going into this location not ordering delivery for myself or functions.

Every time I go they charge me different prices for the same thing, depends who’s helping you I guess.

Bleh. Got a take-out vegetarian stromboli. It may be the greasiest thing I’ve ever consumed. I’m not being dramatic at all when I tell you that I cut the thing in half, held it upside down, and drained about half a cup of straight grease out of it. The vegetables inside were not particularly fresh or flavorful… it just wasn’t what I was hoping for. I was wanting a delicious, cheesy, guilty-pleasure meal… I definitely got the guilt for all the oil and grease, and there was certainly plenty of cheese. Unfortunately it missed the mark on ‘delicious’.

Nice spot. Affordable and quite diverse. I got an Italian hoagie, and though the cold cuts had some filler(not real capicola, for example), it was still fresh tasting and refreshing. Recommended.

Have you ever heard of Baked Ziti without the sauce? Exactly! It’s macaroni and cheese! Well these idiots delivered that to me. I call the store and the guy who answered the phone says that you have to request the sauce. How backwards is that! I express my disappointment and all he did was apologize; no offer to correct my order… no offer for a future discount. I told him that I would never order from there again and that I would post this review. FAIRWARNINGTOANYONEWHOMAYORDERFROM Italian Express… DON’T!!!

Simple honest thinner crust pizza, nice hot food selection and now they serve REAL tacos. Last time we were in there, me, wife, couple friends and a bunch of beer — perfect. Nice to sit down at the local and relax.

Fish hoagies, cheese steaks and buffalo chicken pizzas are the best things to eat here. I have had other stuff like the spaghetti and meatball, fries and chicken noodle soup. I must say«I’m spoiled and love it here.» This place is fine during the day hours and night hours. Its a local pizza spot with good people who love to eat fattening stuff. lol. I think I gained most of my weight from this place. smh. Good food, friendly staff and clean.

I’ve lived in the Brewerytown/Strawberry Mansion area for 5+ years now, and there is not one single pizza place in this area that comes close to Italian Express. Thats saying a lot considering I’ve had much better in my travels. The timing of delivery is reasonable, my food is always hot, and the prices are decent. I havent explored their entire menu, but the typical stuff(pizza, cheese steaks, burgers, sides) is fair.

This is one of the places I frequent for lunch. I pretty much get the same thing, baked chicken, spinach and potatoes. It’s good every time! The lasagna is also a good choice. I’ve never had the pizza but they have a decent variety of prepared foods to choose from.

This is not an upscale location in an ideal area. Prototypical hole in the wall. But you know what they say about holes in the wall right? Food is legit Philly style. Their cheesesteaks are super flavorful, fresh tasting and on point. You can sense the care and attention to detail they put towards the food as opposed to the crap they churn out at some of the more commercialized spots. Area sketchy? Yes. Interesting customers? Yes. Worth going back? Yes!!!

Confused by the mixed reviews? Like most things in life, the truth is somewhere in the middle, right around 2.5 stars. We ordered delivery on a Friday night: two specialty pizzas(the Italian Express Special and Chicken Cordon Bleu) and an order of chicken tenders. Quick and friendly service? Amen. Enormous appetite from 6 hours of watching March Madness? Got it. The pizza? Mehhhh. The crust was mediocre and not particularly worth eating. The tomato sauce, cheese and toppings seemed sparse and yet the whole slice was incredibly greasy – not sure how that worked. Surprisingly, the highlight was the side of fries that came with the chicken fingers: garlicky and extra crisp. Oh, and they only take cash for delivery. Bizarre. Rumor has it that the paninis are a better option, but for my future pizza delivery needs, I’m taking my plastic back to Angelino’s and their dreamy marinara sauce.

As far as options in this neighborhood, this place is great. I like the sauce they use and the service is always prompt. Also, this place is clean… even the bathrooms. It also doesn’t hurt that this place is across the street.

Well, this review is for the pizza. I love the pizza, I’m born and raised NYC so pizza is real important to me. Majorly important in a Ramones sort of way. The crust is medium to thin and their mix is great. Sandwiches, not so much. The hot food selection has a lot of soul food elements which are fine. The meatloaf is a-ok with me. Good eats.

Not sure what the other reviewer was smoking. The pizza here is the best I’ve had in years. I lived in NYC for 5 years and, aside from expensive, old style pizza, it was hard to get pizza better than this. I’ll admit that Angelino’s, which is nearby, comes close, but it’s definitely not as good as Italian Expres unless you really like tons of toppings. I’ve brought multiple friends here from other neighborhoods and they still ask for it when they come back.

This review is for the PIZZA at Italian Express ONLY. That’s all I’ve had there, which sucks for the review, as they’ve got an extensive buffet and deli. Sorry. It’s a high 2-star, I admit. The slices are average/small, dryish crust. The cheese is tasty, and the whole package is good… but doesn’t really stand out. I like George’s at 28th and Girard more.
