First, I do my research before I make any significant purchase. When I was shopping in their Cherry Hill store(18 months ago) the salesman trashed anything he did not sell — not impressive. There are independent sources for TRUE information, like . I went another direction, but my reason for this review today is that I still get mail and emails from these people even when I have told them I bought elsewhere and do not want their sales materials sent to me.

Five stars for exceptional service, though I was trying to sell my piano; not buy one. I had contacted a number of stores who wrote that they buy pianos on their websites. Only Jacob’s called me back. The rep was very sociable and professional, and was very open about the fact that selling privately would be more to my advantage at this time. He basically gave me free advice, including piano market information I otherwise would not have been aware of. When I’m buying a piano again instead of selling, I’ll definitely go to Jacob’s first.

Wow, I just had one of the worst customer service experiences of my life at Jacobs Music on Chestnut Street. First of all, when I entered the store, one salesman was already with a customer, so I started to look around while I waited. After a couple minutes, he had still not acknowledged my presence nor asked if he could have someone help me. Then, a second salesperson appeared to be coming up front from the back of the store, but she quickly turned around without approaching or acknowledging me. Finally, a different saleswoman came out front and asked if she could help me. I started to ask her about where I could get piano sheet music in the city, for a little girl that I am starting to teach(who will actually need a piano as well). She started to reply — but when the phone rang, she abruptly stopped to answer it. Instead of asking the caller to hold, she settled into her seat, continued to have a conversation, and proceeded to ignore me. After a few moments of shock, I turned and walked out of the store, and I promise you that I will NEVER go there again. Frankly, they all probably thought that I was younger than I really am and automatically assumed that I wasn’t going to amount to any revenue for them. In actuality, I own two pianos and will probably in the not-so-distant future purchase a third and/or upgrade. Furthermore, I will most definitely be sharing this experience with the parents of my student and anyone else who is in the market for a piano. I am completely insulted by the disregard with which I was treated and will certainly direct any future business elsewhere.

I am rating the piano tuning service. The price is about standard, piano tuning is just kind of expensive. Punctual, Professional, and Polite. John was my piano tuner and I will definitely use him again. He was on time and very thorough with our piano that had recently undergone a cross-country move.
