This was first time here, and I liked the communal vibe. Unpretentious place to relax with a coffee, that does not have the cold, stoic vibe of the big coffee chain… you know who I’m talking about. I’m thinking this might be my «go to» place in Rittenhouse…

The coffee is tasty and the location is bright. I like that they have wifi and I can get a lot of work done here. Thank you Joe!

Joe’s is one of my top two coffee shops in Philadelphia. They provide a nice working environment and good coffee. The food selection is ok but who needs that anyway… drink some more coffee and suppress that appetite. Recently I’ve been taking my coffee togo and capitalizing on the good weather and proximity Rittenhouse Park right across the street.

Like the capuccino but digusted w/preparation. In store yesterday evening and saw the young lady grind the beans and pressed the coffee with her hands(did not wash her hands or put on gloves). Can’t understand why she did not use the appropriate tool to press the grinds. More disturbing that she verbally indicated that she didn’t find that it was wrong and further said to me all coffe places do the same thing. Wrong response! Unhygienic on so many levels. I wouldn’t recommend this coffee spot!!!

Got plain espresso from here. Mmm, it’s okay, tastes kind of diluted. I’ve always liked very concentrated, bitter espresso, and this espresso isn’t like that. Very friendly service though, which bumps up my rating of this espresso from 2.5(neutral rating, aka not bad, not great) to 3.

Location is beautiful, wifi is fast. General vibe is pleasant and I’ve been lucky enough to come at times when it’s not too crowded. It’s not an amazingly cool coffee shop or anything but I enjoy the coffee and I mostly use coffee shops as locations to cry over my midterms anyway. I always get the chai latte.

Excellent coffee and excellent customer service. One less star, simply because the space itself is a little sterile. But the Joe baristas are professionals who know how to make coffee drinks, trust me.

This Joe is a rittenhouse staple! I’ve been here countless times for when I need to crack down and study. On busier days it’s a bit more difficult to find a seat, and the tables are a bit small for spreading out, but I prefer the long desk at the window anyway because it faces outdoors into the park! The cold brew is fantastic, as is their almond latte, and for some reason the sky blue to go cup always gets me. I can always count on quick service, even on their busier days, and the wifi/outlet situation is great as well! Only complaints are that sometimes the music can get a bit loud, and it gets chilly if you’ve been there for a few hours, but that’s what earplugs and sweaters are for, am I right? :)

Just went to Joe’s for the first time after someone suggested meeting there. I had heard great things about this place and being the coffee fanatic that I am, I was super excited to try out this coffee shop! Location: — Beautiful spot right across from Rittenhouse park — Conveniently located in Rittenhouse square Ambiance: — The music was a little too loud for my liking. On top of that, this place was PACKED and everyone was speaking very loudly. There seemed to be more quiet seats in the back though. — Not very spacious, although there is outside seating, and seating extended into the next-door building(I think it’s a hotel? Don’t quote me on that). — For some reason the AC was cranked up really really high and I was freezing the entire I sat inside. Granted, it’s probably 90 degrees outside, but damn… why does it have to feel like I stepped into Siberia? Coffee/Tea: — I ordered a small ice latte. On the pricier side for the size that I got. The quality is OK, coffee is pretty strong but has a funny taste that I can’t quite put my finger on. I personally prefer the taste of La Colombe coffee. — Coffee aside, I think one of the selling points here is their ice tea, as I saw a LOT of people get that. This would be a convenient spot to meet up with friends. I would not recommend if you’re looking to get work done that requires a sufficient amount of focus and concentration. This also would not be ideal if you are looking to meet up for business-purposes…unless you’re comfortable with yelling across the the table so that your business partner can hear you. Wifi works great(free too – yay!), but one super important thing that this place lacks is outlets. Make sure your electronic devices are fully charged when coming here.

I seriously debated on whether to give Joe 3 or 4 stars, but I kicked it up 1 star just because the service has always been solid every time I stopped by no matter how busy it was. To be honest, I don’t know why all of my friends love this place so much. It gets really crowded often and the interior isn’t very spacious so I often feel claustrophobic while trying to get some work done. Also, the coffee is a bit overpriced and has always left me feeling like something’s missing. But the Rittenhouse vibe is wonderfully present in Joe no matter the season, and it’s a great place to people watch or catch up with a friend. Just not my top choice in a working café, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Coffee with a kick! Move over Starbucks! I love Joe’s coffee. The coffee here is excellent quality, its strong and you can have your cappuccino or macchiato with almond milk instead of regular milk or soy milk. Its nice to see this small change! They have such fresh and tasty baked goods and sandwiches from Talula’s Daily. They have hot cocoa and cider. People come here to study or meet up with friends and they have some outdoor seating too and they are right across the street from the Rittenhouse Park. What’s not to love?

Good… just not as great as La Colombe’s though! (+ the«suggested tip» when using CC is a scam. Coffee shops owner need to fix this.)

this one is definitely larger than the one on campus but the staff’s still nice and friendly. coffee is good… def better than starbucks imo. there’s a starbucks right across from where i work so i usually just go there but when i need a longer break away from my desk, i’ll take a short stroll through the park to grab a cup here.

You should definitely check out the cold brew and scones! If you can score a table outside, even better. There is still plenty of room inside, since they have a few tables in the building next door. Joe also has a rewards card where your 11th coffee is free.

I visit Joe’s often for Vanilla Latte’s and cold brews. Can’t t commend them enough. The service is always friendly and quick, and they have a loyalty card which is always a plus. I walk past 2 – 3 Starbucks just to get to this shop. It’s right on Rittenhouse Square and it’s the perfect location. Indoor and outdoor seating as well. One thing I wish they had more of, is food options. However, they’re a coffee shop first and foremost, and that’s what they do best!

Joe’s cup of coffee used to be my one of favorite coffee spot in NYC. Was tiny space near NYU, down to earth and I could just hang out there for hours. Loved that place and when I saw Joe’s in my neighborhood in Philly, I was so happy. I got my latte couple times there and my experiences were different in Philly location. It’s kind of fancy coffee shop than the one in NYC. Me and my friend couldn’t really hang out and chat there. It’s super crowded all the time and staffs weren’t super nice. no offense, they were super professional but just I didn’t feel the warm greeting from them whenever I visited. Maybe I am picky but I prefer cozy coffee shop with warm people around. And I realized Philly has a lot of amazing coffee spot so…

A great neighborhood coffee shop, albeit with very very limited seating. I love their tea selection too, which is nice when you want to switch it up and get something other than coffee. Tried their cookie here once too, and remember liking it. Oh, and did I mention punch cards? I am a big fan of punch cards. A plus for Joe for pulling me away from La Colombe.

I alternate between Joe’s Coffee and Elixir frequently, and I like Joe’s more. The winning point for me is that the WiFi at Joe’s is a lot faster and more reliable than the one at Elixir. Pros: — Good coffee roasting: I usually add milk/cream when I order coffee elsewhere, but I drink it straight black at Joe’s. The raw flavor is good enough for me! — Great prices: The coffee roast is only $ 3(one size only though). — Great people watching spot: The shop is right on Walnut St and facing Rittenhouse Square park, so if you’re able to snag a window seat on a nice day, you will love the view! — Fast reliable WiFi: I’ve been able to VPN into work without issues. — Great hours: 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day. Some of the other local coffee shops close at 6 p.m., so I do appreciate the extra hours. Of course if you really want a late night coffee shop, then I’d suggest the Starbucks on Walnut and 16th as that closes at 11 p.m. Cons: — Smaller than Elixir: The WiFi is better, but the shop is smaller than Elixir and there are only 4 seats with access to an outlet. — No comfy seats: Classic tables and chairs. It lacks that local community coffee shop feeling.

To be honest, I had not given Joe much of a thought after their soft opening. While the staff was super friendly and everything was free during the soft opening, I just have not gotten the chance to check it out again since that time… until today. And I am super glad that we decided to have an impromptu study session on a beautiful afternoon. The vibes of this shop are a little more hectic — for a solid 45 minutes there was a line outside the door waiting to order their favorite cups of Joe, and the seating was limited while we were there. But then again, it was a perfect afternoon. Doors were open letting in a gentle breeze. The lighting and ambiance with Rittenhouse Square just across the street was serene. The company was fantastic. Now to the actual coffee. While being a longtime faithful to La Colombe and their delicious iced coffee, I decided to get a large cold brew coffee at Joe, and it was great! It came in a gigantic glass and with a little splash of simple syrup and soy milk(sorry, lactose intolerant), I held a true gem! The cold brew was bold and flavorful and was a great treat for a productive afternoon. My friend went with iced mocha which was also flavorful and smooth. Check this place out on a lazy afternoon and sit back and enjoy the people!
