I have never wrote a review on Joe Santucci’s pizza before and I guess I should have given it’s been one of my wife and my favorites for many many years; heck, most of the times we eat in twice a month. The one thing we always said is it was consistently great pizza, the beer is always cold, and the wait staff is generally proficient and courteous. Now comes the review from our visit last night. First let me say the beer was cold; it went downhill from there. We ordered the boardwalk fries; we asked for light salt since being 55 years old I’m trying to watch my sodium intake(I know, I shouldn’t be going out to eat in the first place). We were told the fries come pre-seasoned and they couldn’t accommodate my request. It sounded odd to me but okay, no biggy, I’ll eat half as much. Now comes the pizza. We ordered plain with hot peppers on the side. The pizza took longer than usual but the waitress, who wasn’t our usual waitress, didn’t seem to be in any hurry(okay, note to self, ask for our regular waitress in the future). The first bite of the pizza had a hint of old oil taste, but I continued eating and that taste faded. I took a second slice and the hint of old oil was back; I stopped eating. I asked my wife if she tasted the old oil taste; she said yes, she thought it was just her taste buds gone wrong haha. I called the waitress over and asked her if Joe changed something in the back, she said no. I asked if Joe was making pizzas or was he off, she said yes he was making pies. I told her the pizza tasted like old oil and I didn’t even want the leftovers, she said nothing changed and she walked away. I then flagged down our regular waitress and explained the same thing; explaining I never had a bad pizza from Joe, she also said nothing changed and walked away. I then flagged down my waitress and asked for the check; I said wouldn’t you have just brought the check when I told you I wasn’t eating that pizza, she said she thought I was finishing my beer(we only had two by the way, we were quite lucid I assure you). She told me the manager took 20% off my bill. I was highly insulted for two reasons: one, why didn’t the manager, whoever that is, come over and tell me themselves; and two, only 20%? Most of the pie was uneaten and we weren’t taking it home. Then my wife comes back from the restroom telling me that horrific smell is back in the ladies room. We are chocking this night up as an anomaly and moving on. Please Joe, please make this an anomaly. Sincerely, your most loyal fan.

Let me start off with I have been a loyal customer of Santucci’s for over 30 years. born and raised A few minutes from O Street. santucci’s has always been our number one choice as a family I have went to the one on Frankford Avenue, and I’ve even Santucci’s brothers on Roosevelt Boulevard and I have to say the most consistent one of all. Has been Joe Santucci’s. Now for the bad news my two recent times visiting The restaurant has been a huge disappointment The first time they gave my pizza to the wrong customer which had me wait another 15 minutes wasn’t that upset because things happen. But last week I was in the restaurant and I would ordered two pizzas one white one red. And the red was so undercooked and when I mentioned it to the waitress replied was do you want me to take it back because it supposed to look like that… I’m still giving Joe Santucci’s a five star due to the fact of all the good memories of my childhood and recent experiences i’m just hoping the recent situations continue

Awesome pizza, just awesome, I’m from Brooklyn NY. This is just like L&B but thin crusted. Cheese first then sauce!

Decent place. Pizza, I would say is so-so. I heard really good things about the pizza. But I found it okish. I think it’s mostly personal preference.

Ok, so I’ve been eating at Santuccis since I was a kid on O street, my entire family grew up on it. I’ve even worked for Rob, Joes brother and his brother in law Mike. The pizza is really good! But the prices! The prices are ridiculous! Joe, come on, why is it so expensive? Why do you charged for every little thing? $ 1.50, for a topping on a sandwich, seriously. I was literally charge for tomato and lettuce on a sandwich. $ 11.75 for a fried chicken sandwich on a long roll? You charge $ 4.00 to go from a Kaiser to a long roll??? If you’re going to charge for cheese wiz, please use the real thing, not the immatation stuff you use now. I knew your Dad, his prices were never this high, prices aren’t this high at any other store. I know as you always say, you’re not affiliated with any other store but I’ve compared menus from South Philly to Roxborogh, you even took away the $ 2.00 coupon for delivery that you have in northeast times, now it can only be used for pick up. Look like I said your food is good, but you seem to be taking advantage of the hard working people up here. I know you have a good business and I’m sure you’ll just turn a blind eye to this review. I will continue to pick up from the«other» closest store, and it’s because of your greedy prices. Please understand, I am far from cheap, it’s the principle…

Food meh. Atmosphere meh, service flat out stinks! If your not 25 or under or don’t know the cool guy lingo and secret hand shake forget about getting a drink under 15 min. For a laugh sit down at the bar and time them. Bring a pillow and not your thirst

One word — DELICIOUS. Santucci’s pizza is crunchy on the bottom and saucy on the top. Their sauce is the real deal, basil and garlic infused. I love the way the cheese is hidden under the sauce with bountiful taste and gooey texture. Our family always orders a large pie, mild buffalo wings and cheese fries. So scrumptious.

Best square pizza in Philadelphia. I’ve been coming hear a for a few years, I have tried everything from the pizza to the steaks, mozzarella sticks fries, etc. But you can’t go wrong with the white pie with broccoli. The white pizza is not as garlicky has most places around. And it’s good alittle well done. When it comes to the reg pie with sauce they put the cheese on bottom and sauce on top. And by far the best. It’s kinda pricey, but we’ll worth it. If you go in and sit at the bar for hockey and foot ball games they always have specials with around 10 TVs on the wall. If you plan on sitting to eat. You get seated with in 5 min. The service is fast. There is alot of parking in front and on each side of the building.

This is the best pizza in the Northeast! It’s more expensive than other places in the area but it’s worth it. I love how unique and delicious the pizza is. The sauce is on top of the cheese and the slices are square shaped! Definitely recommend!

Great Pizza. Terrible Environment, the owner plays terrible 70s music, even during Champion games.

Here I am, a Delco Unilocaler who just happened to be up here looking for any place to eat that isn’t in the mall, a chain, or an overrated Chinese buffet. Unilocal led me here. I like this place. Nothing pretentious whatsoever. And the bartender was very nice like everyone said. The pizza, I devoured a small happily. It reminds me of Pica’s in Upper Darby. That’s a good thing. It was a perfect stop for a late Sunday lunch.

Awesome pizza! Try the white veggie works. It’s delish! When you dine in, the staff are super nice and always make sure they take care of your every need.(Can’t say I have ever had the same girl twice) it has a very loud bar on the weekends.

Square pizza sounds weird right? Cheese on the bottom, sauce on top even weirder? Well it works. The pizza is always delicious here. The service top notch. All the girls at the takeout counter friendly and helpful! If you don’t call ahead for your takeout order you can sit at the bar and have an ice cold beverage.

Totally unique and amazing! I still prefer Vince’s over Santucci’s, but you will NEVER have a pizza made quite the same way these are. They use butter and oil in the pan before baking that infuses the crust with a sweetness that most pizzas are devoid of. The garlic bread and appetizers are awesome too! A ton of TVs as well

Never liked this place but now I have a legitimate reason, my $ 5piece of cheesecake had MOLD on it!!! How long was it sitting is that to-go container for to literally grow fuzzy, green mold? This is absolutely disgusting.

There’s not many pizza places in this part of Northeast Philadelphia that had many Unilocal!reviews and so I ventured out here when I was in the area because it had more than 10 reviews, and most of them were favorable. I would say if you’re local it’s not a bad place to park your keister and grab some drafts and decent pizza. But I would not go out of my way to try this place in particular. I had your very basic pepperoni stromboli and it wasn’t great. In fact it was pretty flavorless, and I blame that on the dough. It’s pretty hard to pull of a tasty stromboli that doesn’t have more than just cheese in it because I would say the dough ends up being the thing you taste the most. Mine was burnt, but the waitress gave it to me, apologized and said the chef could cook another one for me if I wanted. I declined since it wasn’t extremely burned, just really over cooked, but thought it was nice of them to offer. I tasted my love’s stomboli which was cooked correctly and the dough was still very bland.
