Fantastic pizza here at a very reasonable, with an authentic home made crust and delicious red sauce. They bake it as they need it, and it’s always fresh since a constant stream of customers come in all the time. It’s obvious that La Rosa’s reinvest the profits back into the pizza itself, rather than make this a fancy, over-priced place; which is quite the oxymoron of so many of today’s restaurants! I’d rather make the trip down here to South Philly for a slice of this, rather than eat at some fancy double-the-price Center City joint that tastes only half as good. All this pretty much adds up to make La Rosa’s the best pizza in Philly!

Ordered pick up. Received a prompt phone call that our pizza was ready. We picked it up and were surprised at the reasonable prices. $ 9.99 for cheese, and $ 13.50 for pepperoni and peppers. The pizza was still hot and absolutely amazing. The crust was crunchy, but also chewy. The sauce and cheese were perfect. My coworkers and I are definitely ordering from them again.

Go in here for an awesome slice or two of pizza at dirt cheap prices. Not much more this is to say about this place. Cash only.

I’m literally jealous of South Philadelphia High School students who, by sheer virtue of their location, can come here for pizza in between classes and grab a slice or two. What an amazing way to go through adolescence, with La Rosa’s always within reach. My high school had a pizza place nearby(pizzeria? I hesitate to bestow upon it such an honor) and it was absolutely disgusting. Anyway, if you’re after square pizza with a thick, semi-buttery, crispy caramelized crust, this place is for you. Do you like a bit more cheese than usual without even having to ask for it, maybe a little bit of grease, but not too much? Well, here you go. If you’re in search of thin-crusted pizza and aim to be calorie conscious so you can convince yourself that pizza isn’t «that bad» for you, do not come here. Also avoid if you want to do fancy, exotic, or even remotely gourmet. At no-frills La Rosa, the bottom of each square slice is a work of art with a miraculous crisp caramelization pattern that can only happen when all of the stars are aligned, in both the pizza pan and in the oven. La Rosa’s kitchen is where magic happens. I picture an Italian grandmother slaving away, exhausted but happy as she creates incomparable pies filled with love and deliciousness. The experience here is SO simple, from start to finish, and so kind to the wallet, too. Plus, the slices are gigantic, especially compared to the other square pizza joints I’ve visited. La Rosa is just the best. My favorite slices are white with broccoli, plain, pepperoni, and sausage. When you go, be sure to request corner pieces! The staff doesn’t mind. In my experience, that South Philly attitude I’ve come to love-hate is noticeably absent. The place is staffed with good-natured folks who are happy to send you on your way with some delicious pizza. I’d advertise the shit out of this place if I could, even if it meant dressing up as a giant piece of pizza and parading up and down South Broad.

Order a large pepperoni & sausage. Pizza was good beside the sausage was too salty. The crust was crispy

Uhhh… delicious. La Rosa is the real deal. Ordered pepperoni and sausage, picked it up and brought it home… was still piping hot despite the decent walk. Crust: thick, buttery, awesome. Cheese: plentiful, flavorful, delightful. Sauce: just the right amount of flavor, hits the spot. On top of being my favorite Philly pizza its also the cheapest(not Little Caesars). I had walked by a number of times and didn’t think much of tje place then checked Unilocal… Unilocalers are spot on with La Rosa.

Called for delivery never showed up been an hour and 20 minutes. I understand that it is a saturday, when the delivery guy came up to the door, he didnt understand that I cancelled and do not want the order considering I called at 7:04 pm. It is now 8:23 pm. There pizza is absolutely delicious, this has nothing to do with the food but when it comes to the delivery guy who gave an attitude and walked away before I could finish mid sentence, that is a disgrace. I have ordered from here multiple times on a friday and saturday and I have never been spoken to or had to wait over an hour and 20 minutes for pizza when we live 4 blocks away.

I wanted to try some South Philly pizza on a Saturday night. I checked Unilocal and saw that La Rosa had great reviews. I looked online for a menu to see that they don’t have a menu. You call and tell them what you want and that’s that. One size pizza. I ordered a plain and tomato pie. It was cash only but it was under 20.00. The pizza looks like a Sicilian pie. Not as doughy and more crispy. I enjoyed the taste and value. Not my favorite tomato pie. I would recommend trying this place if you’re in the neighborhood. I don’t think I’d go out of my way to come here from fishtown.

Delicious grandma-style pizza. Rivals my favorite from my old neighborhood( ). You’ve got to respect that this restaurant does just one thing, and they do it very, very well.

Wow! Wanted a quick slice on way to airport. Only $ 2.20 for big square of delicious cheesy goodness with perfectly salty and spicy sausage! My husband loved his pepperoni square. We washed down the not-too-thick buttery crust with an ice-cold soda. Just heaven!

This place is always underated when they talk pizza Best Of! If u eat it hot right at this little place its so awesome and much the same if delivered. We’ve been ordering here for yearssss. the delivery is pretty much in reasonable time and it’s fantastic for the price and the kinds of pizza. each delicious. .i actually wish they offered even more variety and also say meatball sandwiches or pastas the sauce is that good. I am not too thrilled with its location unfortunately as the area of broad and snyder. sorry to say. but u can see it cooked promptly and walking in its pretty clean. I love square type pizza’s its how my mom and aunts etc. use to make it thin or think. and this one has just the right crispiness on the bottom. I see it as one of the 5 of pizzahood in south philly. LOL

Great Sicilian pies– cash only though. It’s right in front of South Philly High though so avoid going right after school if you’re just trying to grab a slice. If not, pick up a huge pie for a fair price. If you’re going in for a slice, the owners are super sweet and if you ask, will tell you which pie just came out of the oven or tell you to wait for the one that’s in there. Yum!

Excellent tomato pie! And I’m very pleased with the price at $ 8.50 for 3 hungry people. We each got two large squares. The place looks closed from the outside during the day. The lighting on the inside gives the place a nice ‘you’d probably get shot here’ feel. If you can get past that, they are making tasty pizza here!

The pizza is some of the best I’ve tasted. Literally. Cheap too and very filling. I got myself the 2 topping pizza with pepperoni and sausage and it was worth every penny and dollar. So makes good pizza slice are the elements of having a nice crunchy crust that gives a crunch, the cheese melting off of the slice when the slice is being picked up, and the grease that leaks off of the cheese without the taste of grease being so overpowering. This is definitely my new go to spot from now on as it is very affordable, delicious, and the delivery service was stellar. I can’t say anything bad about this spot. Try this spot out!

Excellent sicilian pizza. By the slice, they do a really good reheating job, which helps maintain the quality you find in their whole pies(which are very good, too). In an area with a lot of by-the-slice-type options, I like La Rosa better than anywhere else. Note: They are a cash-only place.

I am going to have to give La Rosa pizza 5 stars. Anyone that truly understands the concept of a real Sicilian pie, knows what I’m talking about. This place is a gem in South Philly, and has been a staple for over 35 years. Also, its owned and operated by Italians! I am not going to spend a lot of time explaining every detail of my most recent slice of heaven, but I will provide you with a photo. As you can see it was truly a beautiful slice. The texture and flavor of the special sauce complemented the perfectly layered cheese as it melts in your mouth. The dough is also amazing, crunchy yet not too crispy with golden edges. Its hard to believe for only $ 3.27 you not only get one of the best slices, but a coke as well.(jack pot)!
