In Houston/TX we have a bunch of amazing Med-places to eat and find delicious cheap and blow-your-mind kind of food. I asked for the lamb over rice, I expected chunks of lamb, not 3 strips of half-assed-flavoured gyro meat. The rice was plentiful, but bland, and the tzatziki didn’t wow me either. Plus, it was kinda pricy for what it was. I’m looking forward to Taco bell opening next door, at least I know what crap to expect from them!

Wish I saw the review before eating — worst meal this year!!! Find a food truck and be much happier!

This place is fucking sad. What a sorry excuse for a place that serves Mediterranean food. Gyro was smaller than my girlfriend’s hand and she’s fuckin tiny(5’1″, 105lbs). Three tiny 0.05mm slices of gyro meat against some soggy lettuce. Little to no tzatziki and didn’t come with the advertised tomato. Do not come. Go to a stand instead.

It is a bit overpriced, but I love the guys here. I see them for lunch at least once a week and the staff have always been friendly. Actually surprised to see reviews stating otherwise. I get the greek chicken salad and the portions are quite filling. For cheaper food, I guess you could go to the taco bell right next to it! ^^

Yes the food was bad, yes it was overpriced, but what has made this place my first one star review is its rude and inattentive staff. Avoid at all costs.

Salad for $ 9. Okay, might be a pretty good salad to quell my hunger for veggies right? WRONG. $ 9 for a bed of iceberg lettuce, a few slices of tomato, red onion, some cheese, and olives. I can’t get over the fact that the entire salad was basically iceberg lettuce. THe only thing that was OKAY about it were the falafel and hummus. Pita was hard and cold. If you want mediterranean, go to Hummus. Or any of the food trucks, really. Unless you like paying $ 9 for two balls of cold falafel and hummus.

I ordered food from here today for dinner. I got two lamb gyro platters– one for me, one for my boyfriend. Allow me to add that I am not that difficult to please. I like to give raving reviews to restaurants that deserve it, especially small businesses. The food showed up at my door after an hour and a half, with four slabs of cold meat. The salad was drenched in dressing. The hummus was as runny as an over easy egg and didn’t taste like any variety of chickpeas I’ve ever had. The pita was clearly bought at the acme down the street, not the least bit toasted or browned. Do not order from here. Unless you like runny egg hummus. I am hungry.

Food is good. Consistent [which is most important]. Good service. I love the honey mustard chicken.

Considering how lazy I am in the morning, I never pack myself lunch. As a result, I’m usually on the prowl for new lunch locations in University City. I looooooove falafel and Mediterranean Café is very close to my office. Unfortunately I’m not a fan of eating clumps of kitty litter. Or at least that is what the texture of the falafel sandwich made me think of. Very, very dry, even all of the mayo they globed on didn’t help. I needed to grab some water and force myself to eat the second half to get me through the day. They offer a good amount of items on their menu, I’m just not sure if I’d like to try them. At least there is ice cream…

Mediterranean Café is located inside the UPenn food court next to CVS. They have quite a selection of Greek food including gyros, hummus, stuffed grape leaves, salads and also fresh fruit smoothies, desserts, and ice cream. I have been looking for an alternative lunch destination besides Cosi’s because 1) the line is always extremely long at Cosi’s, 2) Cosi’s salads are overpriced. With that being said, I ordered the Greek salad(without chicken). It’s quite a large portion with fresh tomatoes, feta cheese, onions, tomatoes and olives topped with olive oil. And it comes with pita bread! I wish they had more varieties in the salads they offer but definitely a healthier option inside the food court(Taco Bell, Quizno’s, A&W, Famiglia Pizza). And the lines are never outrageously long like Cosi’s!
