Luz and Kelly and their team are extraordinary stylists who provide exemplary service. They create personalized care to achieve beautiful, healthy results. The salon atmosphere is warm and their shampoos are the best I’ve ever experienced! I recommend them most highly!

They always do an outstanding job when I get a relaxer and blowout. I have seen my hair grow and it is much less damaged since I began going!

I went to Mimada for my first Brazilian wax some time ago. My visit here was prompted by a groupon. The waxer (don’t remember her name) used the same wax you’d use on your face and strips. Literally took my skin off!!! I wish I still had the photos. I still get waxed even after that horrible experience, but I go to a place that uses hard wax as you should in sensitive areas.
This review is only based upon the waxing at Mimada, I’ve never gone for a hair service.

My favorite place (in Boston) wasn’t available to wax me before my trip to Philly. I read reviews before choosing a waxing salon in Philly so I did know there would be a guy waxing «down there.» Walking in Zac was super easy-​going, fun, sweet and made me feel really comfortable. Then there was the wax. Zac knows how to give an amazing Brazilian Wax. This was the LEAST painful wax I have ever experienced (and I’ve had a lot). Zac is your go-​to for any first-​timers or anyone who just wants a good wax.

I came to Mimada Beauty Bazaar after purchasing a Brazilian wax from Groupon. I can honestly say that I loved it!!! Everyone here are very friendly and attentive, just a very welcoming atmosphere. It is also very clean. I truly recommend Zachary for the Brazilian waxes, he has such a genuine heart and a very inviting personality. I felt very comfortable with him and I can truly say that I felt no pain. Loved it!!! I will be coming back and I hope you do too :) Oh, I almost forgot to mention that it is also a hair Salon, can’t wait to get the whole package done.

First place I went to, to get my hair done in Philly. And it will be the last place I go to get my hair done in Philly. They do such a good job every time! I love the atmosphere, everyone is friendly. Just make sure you have an appointment and come a couple minutes ahead. The owner is nice and loves to talk to you and greets you with a warm hello. You can tell she genuinely loves her job! Luz is amazing and should be working with Paul Mitchell for her skill haha I LOVE it. The price however is a little pricy. For example, for a wash, blow out, and trim your looking at about $ 70

Got a groupon-​showed up and a man was the one doing the Brazilian. Extremely awkward and he was the only one available. Really haphazard job. Wouldn’t go back again.

Awesome! I decided to try this salon for a local Brazilian wax. It was my first time at Mimada but there was a laid back atmosphere in a convenient location, and a fabulous esthetician, Zachary. I was surprised when I realized a man would be waxing me– that was a first for me. But Zachary was so professional about it that mid conversation, I completely forgot what was being done! Also helped that we both love men ;) He was quick, gentle but efficient and made me feel super comfortable. I recommend him and Mimada Salon for Brazilian waxes. Ask for Zachary, he is the BEST!

My sister has been seeing Luz for years and has always had great things to say about her. I was in Philly last weekend and finally got the chance to make an appointment with Luz and see what she could do for my unruly hair.
It was easy to book my appointment through the phone. The salon was easy to find and the staff was friendly from the time I walked in. I had my hair washed, deep conditioned with the steamer, rinished, blow dried, and styled with a flat iron. I showed Luz a picture on my phone of what I wanted with my hair and she knew exactly what to do. Afterwards, my hair was light and soft and it held beautifully.
I will definitely be back! And when I (hopefully) move to Philly soon, I will be seeing Luz very often!

I love this place! Been going there forever. I get the absolute best haircut there… and its affordable! Not only that, but all of the people who work there are so nice and outgoing and fun that it always feels like I’m at a party with friends whenever I go.
Highly recommended to all!

I went to Mimada with a Groupon for a Brazilian. I was a little taken aback to have a guy do the waxing, but Zachary is not heterosexual, and very talkative, and really put me more at ease than any woman I’ve had. Plus, it was the LEAST painful wax I’ve ever had.

There are not enough wonderful things to say about the staff and services provided by Mimada. This salon is outstanding! I have been going to Luz regularly for almost two years now. She helped me flawlessly transition from a relaxer (no big chop required!), and my hair is the healthiest and longest it has ever been! Even after several zumba sessions, my hair stays straight — something I never thought was possible. I receive several complements after visiting the salon, and my friend/​co-​worker is now also a regular client. If you want healthy hair and a beautiful style, go to Luz!
Mimada has been so great to me that I also asked them to do hair and makeup for my wedding last month. Best decision I made! Mimada is truly a full-​service salon. My wedding party of eight was like a Benetton ad — all different ethnicities, ages, hair types — you name it. We had so much fun that day. My bridesmaids and family looked GORGEOUS, and I LOVED what they did with my hair and makeup. Not only was Mimada more than equipped to handle my wedding party, but they generously reserved the entire salon for us, and had everyone ready to go on time! Markely, Luz, Andy, and Zack really provide an unparalleled service, and are such fun people! I love this salon, and will never leave :)

I wish it would let me give this place more stars. That’s how good my experience was. The location itself is great right on south street near rittenhouse but totally reasonably priced and a great first time discount on brazilians. Well kept, clean, and aesthetically pleasing.
I only came for a Brazilian so I can only speak to that however, before living in Philly I have always lived in beach towns were waxing was a necessity. I also recently lived in brazil and became accustomed to their methods which are the least painful and longest lasting.
Joanna, my waxer, was a magician. She was incredible! She was incredibly knowledgeable not just about Waxing but skin care in general. The wax itself barely took any time at all and basically pain free. She also gave me great skin care advice without feeling pushy or overbearing in any way. After a lot of terrible Brazilian experiences in Philly I have to say Joanna is by far the best.

Alright, apparently it’s a hit or miss with this place. This has been a long overdue update on the second Brazilian I had at this place. I went in 2 months after my first appointment, and I hated it. In fact, I’m NEVER going back, nor will I ever recommend this place to another person. It was that bad, and I’m not a hard person to please. (You can even see from my reviews, I rarely leave bad reviews…)
So yeah, this was that bad! I hated the experience. It was EXTREMELY painful. The woman herself admitted that she does longer strips of wax because she doesn’t want to take the time. Ummmm what? Shouldn’t you maybe have discussed that with me BEFORE our appointment and not tell me that AFTER you put me through that much pain? And shouldn’t you have maybe talked to me about it as I was CRYING through our session? Yeah those would’ve been good choices.
Also, the woman had the audacity to lecture me about the fact that I didn’t go in earlier for my Brazilian. A lot of other places apparently would’ve just trimmed the hair and went on their merry little way. Instead, this lady thought the most appropriate course of action would be to lecture a client.

Wow, so I called to make sure they could take a walk-​in and, after being asked «what kind of hair do you have?», was promptly told that their person who specializes in «ethnic hair» was booked up for that day.
Ugh, where do I begin? I’m African American with long thick hair. I don’t relax it as there’s no need and am lucky enough that pretty much any kind of stylist can work with my hair.
But that’s not the point. As a business you do not ever tell the customer that she’s essentially a problem and to go somewhere else. The hell?
Way to lose my and all my friends’ business.

I was going here regularly for the 6 months I lived in Philly. I bought the groupon when I first moved there (Jan) and my first wax was horrible BUT they fired her! Second wax was much better, but my third and subsequent waxes by Joanna were all outstanding! I HIGHLY recommend her for brazilians! Over the past few years I have been to seven or eight different places, and seen over ten different people, and let me tell you. Joanna’s wax was the LEAST PAINFUL I have ever had! She is quick without making you feel rushed. Not to mention, she is friendly and fun to chat with!
The only reason I am giving four instead of five stars is bc making an appointment is a real pain! Every time I called I was asked when my last visit was, and for my information. You should keep track of these things for return customers! I think they’re old school with a notebook, but they should really get an electronic system. Kelly, the owner, is super friendly and remembers you when you come in.
I would have continued going to Joanna if I was still living in Philly!

Been a while since I wrote a bikini wax review, hasn’t it?
Mostly because I’ve been loyal to Heads & Tails (you can read my rave reviews on their page if you’d like), until Mimada ran a great Groupon I couldn’t refuse. It was 3 brazilian waxes for $ 75, and I live right around the corner from them. No brainer, right?
The first wax was okay. Nothing bad, nothing great either. 3 stars, maybe 2.5 since the actual space/​wax room is pretty unfancy.
The 2^nd and 3^rd wax were GREAT. Make sure to book your waxes on Fridays & Saturdays only, since that’s the only day she’s there. It’s hard wax, very quick and one of the least painful I’ve had in a while.
I love Heads & Tails, but Mimada is a great second option to have. Plus, they’re constantly running specials for $ 35 or $ 38 brazilians which are hard to resist.
Certainly worth a try for someone looking for a new waxing spot!

I went here with a groupon for a spa mani/​pedi. I made an appointment, which I would recommend because they only have one nail station. The spa version of this was supposed to have some kind of special fruit therapy, but I would say what I got was a pretty typical mani/​pedi. The space is very clean, and it’s really more of a hair salon. The woman who did my nails was nice, really didn’t say much. She did a nice job on the pedicure, although the leg/​foot massage was very weak. My nails however, could have been better. I’m happy with the shape, but the polish was put on over some leftover cuticle or something so there are little bumps. I’m also two days post manicure, and it’s already chipping.
