Had my nieces baby shower here and the banquet room was very nice. Was told there was parking and the parking was located on 5th Street which didn’t hold many parking spaces. There was a back door that had access to the parking lot area but we were unable to use it an had to keep going all the way to 5th Street which is an inconvenience if your bringing food into the banquet hall. It was just to congested in Center City/South Street… for an event like this.

Had my sons bday party here this past weekend and it was Great! Space is very open and I was able to decorate the place anyway I wanted. I didn’t do anything huge bc I only had the place for half hour before the party started, but for what I did, my friends and family raved about it. I rented the back two thirds of the room. The middle section was where the fake fire place was at and where his gifts were being kept during the duration of the party. The back third was facing towards a cemetary. Like the other reviewer stated, it’s not really creepy. It’s actually really nice. The window was huge and I’m sure you could have put up some sort of curtains if you didn’t want to see it, but I liked the fact that my guests were able to sit by the window. The only reason why they didn’t get 5 stars… bc they lost my room setup sheet that I submitted when I made my final payment and when I did make my final payment, the person couldn’t find my original contract. UGH! Made me very nervous when I received a phone call the day before my event informing me that they didn’t have my floor plan. I was kinda nervous they would cancel my event cause I thought they also didn’t get my last payment. They need a better filing system. I think I might have gotten them some new clients! :-) Some of my friends liked it so much, they picked up the renting pamplet.

Fast forward a year and we just had my daughter’s first birthday party here; talk about coming full circle! They were just as easy to work with as ever, friendly and helpful through the day of the party. We also take music class here every week and it’s such a great space. Very stroller friendly, convenient, good all around =)

My friends recently held their wedding reception here, and what a great space it was! Big windows looking out onto a cemetery(not as morbid as you might think), and the others looking out onto Lombard street. There was a lot of room to mingle and plenty of space for food, a bar and dancing. You can rent the room by the thirds, so if you have a small party, you may only need 1⁄3 of the room. A wedding planner or coordinator can really have some fun with the space, and our friends were able to make it really lovely with soft white linens, dressed up with a sitting area, and light blue and white flowers. Very good spot for any type of reception including birthday parties or baby/bridal showers.

If your living room is small and your budget isn’t lavish, and your guests are allergic to your cats and you don’t feel like cleaning the house BUT you need a space to hold an event, the rental space at Old Pine Community Center may be just what you are looking for. I am part of a group that needed a space for a party, and we were happy with this place from the beginning to end. it was a huge success, and much of the credit goes to the people at Old Pine Community Center. They went the extra mile to make it easy for us. Our party was a group effort, and everyone in our group who participated in the preparation and the setting up commented on what a great place it was for our event. Check it out!

OPCC has undergone a major metamorphosis over the last five years and anyone who has not checked in out recently doesn’t know this center. Kids in the after school program get homework help and have great fun. Adults find a place to get a GED or ESL tutoring at a very low cost and individuals struggling with addiction find the support they need. Every Saturday 50 seniors enjoy a free hot meal, music programs and companionship. Sports leagues fill the gym night after night and many neighbors find an affordable venue to host a party. The staff keeps the place looking great and are welcoming to all who enter. This is a place where the community comes together like no other venue in the area.

So have you ever wanted to go back to 10th grade, when all the boys in gym class were all in uniform, and all the girls were the same in little cliques, afraid to be the last picked for floor hockey? Look no further and dream no longer. You will probably still be the last picked, and leave smelling like a fist full of sweaty nickels, due to the lack of ventilation in the gym.
