The city funded this playground for new turf July 2015! It looks beautiful and am happy to take my children here where they can play safely!

This is one of the better courts in Philly. It also has a huge baseball field and a playground. The Pros: The court is one of the cleanest. good competition for all levels of play. The Cons: Parking is hard to find and is only up to 2 hours. sometimes no nets on the rim when it rains recently, one court has a huge puddle. The bathroom is not always opened.

What an excellent part of BellaVista! A really nice playground. I love that it is close to the shade too, so it’s not baking in the sun all day. However, the turtles do bask in the sun all day just like real ones. Keep the little ones away from them! You could seriously fry some eggs on those babies! The perk of this park, is the center has bathrooms and a water fountain which is great if you have kids with you. I also like that the greenspace is free of dog excrement. Nothing is worse than playing catch and stepping in it. Ugh. The corner back near fitzwater and 9th is great for picnics and just general laziness unless a soccer game is going on.

I had a really nice time here last weekend. I took my daughter to get her very first Sarcone’s hoagie on Saturday. We took our sandwiches, grabbed a couple City Papers to use as blankets, and had a picnic in the Shade at Palumbo. The openness of the corner allows a great breeze to blow through the park, which helped us to linger. After we finished eating my daughter loved playing on the playground portion of the rec center. The grounds are always clean, filled with friendly like minded people, and has bathrooms. I’m thinking a falafel picnic next time!

Palumbo has a great playground that’s kept up very well. Maybe because their posted hours say that the gates will be unlocked at 9AM on the weekends, and the Philly Rec employee usually strolls in with his coffee closer to 10. Whatever the case, there are tons of swings, and two sets of play areas-one for 2 – 5 year olds and one for 5+, although anyone with a toddler knows that it’s no fun to play on the«baby slide». It gets very crowded weekdays around 3 – 5 when day cares and preschools come en masse.
