Been here twice. Both times the food and service were on point. Definitely check it out.

Went here with my son after watching an episode of diners drive ins and dives. This place did not disappoint. I had the brisket sandwich while my son ordered the ½ slab of ribs. The brisket was so darn tender. Melt in your mouth goodness. OMG. It was paired perfectly with hot potato salad and sweet cole slaw. The sandwich was also topped with raw onion and sweet butter pickles. Yummy! I was a happy camper. We also got to meet Chef Erin. She was lovely! And to top off this wonderful meal we were surprised when a beautiful dessert was delivered to our table. A very smooth mousse topped with a light whipped cream. We could not have asked for a better meal or experience. This place is my new favorite.

Percy Street Barbecue is a delightful spot on South Street. Service is always great, and boy can I tell you they have a decent selection of beer. During Beer Week, Percy Street Barbecue is perfect to hit up. Percy recently partnered with Victory Brewing and offered an outstanding carnival that was plenty of fun for the whole family. I enjoy sitting at the bar for Happy Hour… 3 dollars for select beer and a 5 dollar whisky shot, along with other discounted food items. I wholeheartedly recommend the chicken sandwich, deviled eggs, and BBQ fries. All are scrumptious. Most certainly I have faith in checking out Percy again during regular hours as they make some of the best BBQ that Philadelphia has to offer.

I have been to Memphis and Texas so I know good BBQ. The BBQ is good y’all and the salad with chicken and buttermilk dressing… have mercy! Drinks are great, Service is good and Yum Yum Yum. If I had one thing I would change it would be some of the side choices need a little tweaking.

Overall, I was pretty disappointed for the food and the price paid. For one mixed drink, one beer and 2 entrees, it was $ 60. I had ribs, which were meaty, but a little tough for a «southern style barbecue place». The side choices were average and I was given cole slaw as one which I didn’t want without ability to substitute. My date had the brisket. It was dry and not overly flavorful. All three house sauces that were supposed to be different tasted exactly the same, but were labeled differently. Not sure if the prep guy was playing a joke that day or what. Our server was awesome and the staff was terrific, but I know I will never eat here again.

Hubby and I decided to give this place a try because we love BBQ and consider ourself to be foodies. I honestly don’t know where all these great reviews are coming from because we were more than displeased. I was actually pissed that not even one thing we ordered I was excited about. Here was our order: Ribs Pork Belly Sandwich German Potato Salad Coleslaw French Fries Corn Bread Mac & Cheese Pretty normal stuff for a BBQ place so I expected some good eats. We were excited! Instead this is what we experienced: Ribs– tasted like they were saturated with liquid smoke then tossed in the microwave. Dry and chewy. One piece actually was so chewy I couldn’t even get my teeth through it. Like a really old piece of beef jerky. Pork Belly Sandwich– we were most excited for this. Looked dry, tasted dry and like the ribs, had too much smoke flavor. That’s all I tasted. German Potato Salad– I love bold flavors and I’m not afraid of heavy handed ingredients. But I cannot believe the amount of vinegar that was put on that potato salad. Like if there were other seasonings on it, the vinegar drowned it out. Coleslaw– I pretty much only like coleslaw one way, so I try not to be too critical when it comes to trying other types. But I kid you not, it smelled so bad I couldn’t even bring myself to taste it. It smelled rancid and looked old. French Fries– the taste of the French fries I really liked(half a star) but they were so soggy they mine as well have been mashed potatoes. Corn Bread– flavor was so so but again, texture! The textured reminded me of really dry polenta. Felt like I was chewing on a sponge with seasonings. Mac & Cheese– probably the best thing we tried there but nothing to brag about(half a star). Extremely disappointed in this eatery. Would never go back or recommend to anyone. Awful!

I love barbecue and needed a reason to have a meal here. My birthday seemed as good an excuse as any. Ahead of my planned visit, I was unsure about my total headcount. You know how things are on busy Saturdays. I informed the restaurant, learned about their $ 25pp menu for parties over 8, requested an overflow table if necessary to avoid that, etc. etc. Eventually, after some reorganizing at the restaurant, my party of 9 was seated together. We weren’t subject to the special menu because Percy Street doesn’t offer a single vegan item, so one of my friends couldn’t eat at all. I wish they had told me that when I mentioned special diets over the phone. I felt so bad! Backing up a bit. During the whole table shuffle, a friend and I decided to stop by the bar. Before we ordered, the bartender looked us up and down and announced in not-the-nicest tone, «I’m DEFINITELY going to need to see ID from you.» This happens to me all the time, but why is it necessary to talk to anyone that way? It’s not, and she knew it when I replied, «Well I DEFINITELY have ID.» Yikes. Once everyone arrived and was seated, ordering was pretty easy. Several servers assisted with our table and our food promptly arrived all at once, which was appreciated. I had decided on my meal choice with one of my friends several weeks prior. We split the biscuit basket, mac and cheese, and ribs(with a side of seasoned fries).Splitting was absolutely a good choice, since it left room to eat more later in the day. While the food was good, it didn’t blow me away. The crust of the mac and cheese was tasty, but the actual cheese was on the bland side. It needed something extra, like bacon, to jazz it up. I did enjoy the biscuits(we got two each) with the butter. Awesome butter! The ribs were good but far from the best I’ve had. We each had four and I felt like I was dousing them in barbecue sauce to enjoy them. It also would’ve been great if wet wipes had been provided earlier. We did not order dessert. Percy Street is all-around okay, but not outstanding. It’ll probably be awhile before I return.

Percy Street Barbecue had been on my list for a while, but for some reason or another it just hadn’t worked out. I recently dined there for Kathleen D’s birthday lunch. As a guest who just showed up, ordered and paid, my experience was a little different. I arrived a little late, but was able to place my order for a mint julep within minutes of arrival. To eat, I shared the biscuits as an appetizer then short ribs with an appetizer portion of mac and cheese as my entrée. Each entrée came with a choice of a side so we opted for fries. It came with coleslaw so unless you really like coleslaw, don’t pick that as your side. The biscuits were so hot and fresh. The butter and honey jam melted into the inner depths of the bread so quickly that it’s almost like the biscuits were made that way. The short ribs were nice and meaty, and the three BBQ sauces complimented them well. The mac and cheese was tasty, but again mixing in the sauces really took it to the next level. As silly as this sounds, the fries were the total standout; probably as a result of the barbecue spice seasoning. No ketchups or BBQ sauces needed– these fries were that good on their own. From a service standpoint, everything seemed to move along well for group dining. The food was paced well and our beverage needs were met. They will add the gratuity to the check on their end, so that’s definitely something to look out for when calculating your own group’s bill. I enjoyed my food and had a fine experience. Looking forward to returning in the future.

My wife is a legitimate food snob and said their biscuits are the best she has ever had in her life… I’ve never seen her act like this in 19 years of marriage. This place is fun, the staff is great and, well, it’s barbecue… so it’s good. The atmosphere is lively and the street side/outside tables are a nice touch. The«spicy» BBQ sauce is not so very hot and the meats are tender. The neighborhood is kind of funky and fun too. The French Fries are crisp but for my liking the seasoning is just a tad too sodium based. But I’m just a cranky old white guy.

It’s good — for Philadelphia… but no way that good in the way of barbeque in general and not so inexpensive either. The place is clean though. There’s also a little bit too much self-awareness, such as when they put the paper towels on your table with the vice for every single party that sits down. Why don’t they just leave those permanently? So, the half pound brisket for 21 dollars — you have a choice of fatty or lean. Asked for fatty, it was just normal. Half the pieces were lean. Whatever, I can deal. But it was just okay. I liked the bark a lot on it, but the meat wasn’t that juicy at all. I wonder where they prepare the brisket, if it’s on-site or somewhere else. And a half pound is a lot for one person but not that much for $ 21. A half-pound is a great size for a $ 13 sandwich, but for this? ehhhh. The other choices for entrée don’t seem as exciting so I can’t warrant the chance to go back. —- I am literally eating brisket from my work cafeteria right now and it’s much juicier than the brisket I had there(the bark sucks though, I gotta say). The sides and appetizers all seem like the main players here actually. I was intrigued and I’m pretty sure I’d be happy with each one, especially if someone else were paying for it. And now the beer. It’s pages and pages of it. I think this works for Croxley Ales, but I am really just looking for a good local beer… And they might have it, but it just gets too confusing with so many. Also, if they have so many, how could they all be fresh? Again, it’s a little too much self-awareness and too little just doing it right. I’d go back if my company was paying for it. It’s definitely serviceable and probably the best barbeque for polo shirts but I won’t be back on my own dime. I would only recommend this for locals in the mood for BBQ.

Percy street barbecue is a decent restaurant. The food was good. We went with some friends that live in Philly they had only been here once before and wanted to take us. We had the bbq fries which were fantastic, bbq brisket on top of seasoned bbq cheese fries. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich which was very good. My Wife ordered bbq chicken which was also good. The service however was terrible. Which is the reasoning for the 2 star review. Our server was extremely inattentive. Only came by our table 2 times throughout the whole dining experience. Once to take our drink order and once to take out food order. The food runners did the rest of the work. Only was able to get 1 round of drinks. FYI to the owner of this place, you could have gained an extra $ 100 in bar sales if your server was more attentive.

An exceptional, standout restaurant, Percy Street keeps the menu tight and simple. But what they do, they execute perfectly. Is it the best barbecue I’ve ever had? No. But it’s above average, and consistently so. Brisket, pulled pork, sides … I can’t imagine going wrong with anything on the menu. The only downside? It’s so far from home!

Ok so the initial thought of the place was really nice. It gives that southern feel picnic table style, casual and relaxed environment. Well I’m here to talk about the food, not the ambiance. On that note, we ordered the Lockhart for two, which is $ 25 per person.(so not worth it IMO). It comes with 4 ribs, 1 chicken leg, half of a chicken breast with a wing attached, 4 slices of brisket, burnt end pinto beans, German style potato salad, cole slaw and ham hock collard greens. Now sounds like a lot of food but in all reality it wasn’t that much and to top it off I didn’t really like any of the sides. What I cannot take away is that the meat tasted pretty delicious. The ribs were very flavorful and tender, the brisket literally melted in your mouth. My forked ripped it apart and the chicken was juicy. They bring out three barbecue sauces which one is mild(white ring), sweet(blue ring) and spicy(red ring) but neither were all that tasty to me. They also serve you pimento cheese and crackers in the beginning and I love pimento cheese and it was pretty tasty. We did also order the deviled eggs appetizer and they were really good. They aren’t the sweet pickled flavor deviled eggs I’m used to, they had more of a mustardy taste but still pretty good. My experience was just ok. I think the meat really saved this place. I can say if you would like a good place to get some good ribs, a nice brisket sandwich and some chicken come on in and sit down. But leave the sides and just stick with some plain olé fries.

This place is super delicious!!! Nom nom nom! We went with the deal that was 24 bucks per person, including brisket, ribs, and chicken along with 4 sides(collard greens, potato salad, beans, and we subbed Cole slaw for cornbread), and it was amazing! At first, when the food came out, we thought it looked small, but between the 3 of us, we had trouble finishing it! Everything was delicious, and they brought out crackers for us to snack on while we waited, along with 3 different sauces(from sweet to spicy). The servers were friendly and helpful, but maybe a bit overbearing. We had people coming by every 5 minutes basically to refill our water(that’s cool) or literally to take stuff Away the second we had a dirty napkin or some trash. Although it was a nice gesture I suppose, it was a little unnecessary. I liked the drink selection, and grabbed a yards root beer to wash it all down with and for a touch of sweetness. I would come here again for sure next time I’m looking for BBQ! P. s. Definitely get the cornbread! Amazing!

This place had some truly standout items, and overall I had a great time. I would highly recommend getting the brisket, the ribs, cornbread and key lime pie. For the meat — they were flavorful, super tender, and paired nicely with the three types of barbecue sauce they had available(regular, sweet, spicy). The cornbread was served on a skillet, and it made the exterior of the cornbread super crunchy and tasty, and it had a nice crumbly texture. THEKEYLIMEPIEWASLITERALLYOURFAVORITE(surprisingly the standout item in this barbecue place). It is all you would want in a pie — a buttery, firm crust with a super soft filling that literally is bursting with tart lemony flavors. The BBQ fries and mac n cheese were aight — mac n cheese was super super rich but maybe a tad too much. Overall, a really solid barbecue place with awesome dessert pies — I went with a group of 5 and was super stuffed after, and it came down to ~$ 20 /person. They also have an amazing selection of bourbon and whiskey and beers and cocktails and I am looking forward to going back for happy hour. And again: GOFORTHEKEYLIMEPIE!

While the food is good, I’ve always felt that bbq falls between fast food and a culinary feat. While this place has good bbq, the price seems to be a little high for bbq. It seems as though this place is trying to tame bbq, which is fine. But at the end of the day, BBQ is a meal you eat with your hands and get messy with, not a refined meal.

I thought this place was pretty good. My friends and I shared the brisket and ribs with sides of cole slaw, cornbread, french fries, collard greens, potato salad. I preferred the brisket over the ribs. Brisket was really good. But the ribs were ok but the end pieces were pretty dry and tough to eat. Sides were good too. French fries are always my favorite. Service was really good and it was a nice space for our party

Hubby and I were searching for the best bbq in Philly and saw Percy’s listed as #1 so we decided to give it a try. We saw it was on Guy Fieri’s show so figured it HAD to be good. Meh is the only word I can come up with to describe the food. We started with the beef brisket fries. It’s just fries with cheese sauce and bbq brisket on top. Again. Meh. Hubby had ribs and I had the pork belly sandwich. Our sides were mac & cheese, German potato salad and coleslaw. Ribs were tender but even with sauce they weren’t very tasty, pork belly tasted like it was old and had been reheated although the bread it came on was good. The mac & cheese was AWFUL, cornbread fell apart before I could spread butter on it, the potato salad was bland and the coleslaw tasted like WAY too much vinegar. Meh meh meh!!! It’s not the worst place in the world but definitely didn’t live up to the hype. In the spirit of ending on a good note, the young lady who waited on us was a gem.

I wasn’t blown away by the food but the service at Percy Street was some of the best in recent memory. Water was prompt upon arrival, dishes delivered and cleared quickly and my water was never less than half full. We tried the Lockheed which had a little bit of everything. I’d say the service was 5 stars but the food about 2.5−3 so I’m leaving it at 3 stars. I will say, though, the place is a bit expensive for the portion size. Other than that, a solid night out and I’d go back just because of the service.

One of the top spots in Philly to eat some BBQ meat! We recently checked this place out and loved the set up. I can see this place being good for groups. They also have some set menu’s which would be good for large parties. I ordered the bbq fries — comes with brisket and gooey cheese. Delicious! My wife ordered the pulled pork sandwich and she loved it. Came with a side of cole slaw and a side her choosing. She got the collard greens which were fine. I ordered the ribs, figuring that I got some of the brisket from the fries. The smoke on the ribs were good and tender. I ordered the cornbread as a side and love anything that comes in a small cast iron skillet. I preferred the hot BBQ sauce from the three that they provide. Overall, we were both stuffed and will have to come back for the hillbilly Gatorade.
