This is a long-standing neighborhood nail salon. Nothing fancy in terms of setting, but they work hard to provide a good experience, and the nail technicians(and the woman who is co-owner) are very friendly. Wherever you end up going, no matter whether it’s a weekday“special” rate or not: tip well! The women who work at all these places really rely on tips, and this is a tough job that exposes them to various chemicals and can be physically arduous. They are extremely appreciative when people tip well — be one of those!

Great place! Pedicures are only $ 21 and the woman did a great job. My feet looked great. This is a pretty basic pedi, which I like. If you want a long massage go elsewhere, but if you want clean nicely painted ties for a decent price I highly recommend it!

Rainbow Nails is clean, affordable and the ladies always do a good job. I’ve moved out of Philly but still go there if I need my nails or eyebrows done while visiting my parents. They do my eyebrows way better than places in New Jersey. The only reason they don’t get five stars is that they should take credit cards it’s annoying to get out cash when your going. PLUS this mani/pedi has been going strong for over a week now. Pretty impressive for a regular nail polish manicure.

They do a very shoddy job here! I got the«long lasting» gel polish last time I went there, and it was ruined by evening! The guy did not do it right at all. Not a good experience– have been there many times previously and it was always mediocre/ok– that was the last time for sure!

On Monday, Jan. 23rd was my second(and last) visit to Rainbow Nail Salon. As a business owner myself, I had the worst experience a business could offer. I received a manicure and pedicure(price list posted) priced at $ 37 with a special of $ 5 off(totaling $ 32); the technician charged me $ 47 with $ 5 off(totaling $ 42). Once I noticed the error, I informed the technician; shortly after, I was told, «Well you will have to wait!» Instantly I replied, «Well why do I have to wait, when this error was not done on my part!» Then she repeats…“You Wait!“ At this point, my patience grew very thin. I could not understand why(1) I had to be spoken to VERY rudely and(2) why I had to wait to receive my refund. Just as fast as my money was taken, my refund should have been just as fast. Then a guy(who is the business owner) came to where I was and said, «Can’t you see she is working… You wait!» He and I began to exchange words(yes I was treated very unprofessionally and rudely. in front of several other salon patrons). After several attempts to get clarify from this man on as to why I was not receiving my refund, he FINALLY went to get my money. As he handed me the money, he says…“It was only $ 10!“ I felt completely insulted and offended by the treatment I received at this place of business. The entire staff was unprofessional and ignorant to the concept of great customer service. Being a business owner in the hair/beauty industry, I WILLNEVER refer any of my family, friends or clients to Rainbow Nail Salon!

I have such a love/hate relationship with this place. I live a few blocks away and have been going here for years, but can never truly decide how I feel. Diamond Spa, a few blocks up the Ave. is a MUCH better nail salon, but is also much more expensive. I generally go to Rainbow for pedicures as they are $ 21, compared to the $ 45 at Diamond and they do a good job – no frills, but a quick and efficient ped. The problem is that each nail technician has a different level of skill. I’ve had good manicures here too, and at for $ 11 a pop, they’re hard to resist, but last week I had a terrible experience. There is one man on staff who actually made my nails look worse than the chipping mani(from Diamond) I had when I came in. It was almost laughable how bad of a job it was: extra polish on my finger tips, unevenly filed ends and hangnails that weren’t there before he started. Rather than tell the owner(a really nice woman and great technician), I decided to either avoid having the man do my manis, or shell out the extra $ 5 for Diamond where they do a beautiful job and include a massage and chocolates. Overall: An average place(if you discount the man on staff) that gives you what you pay for.

Went here on a whim with a friend yesterday to get impromptu pedicures after calling up and learning their prices were ridiculously low for the area.($ 21 for regular pedicure) They got us in right away and did a good job. Pedicure included nice plush chairs that massage(although we did have a good giggle over not having any idea how to work the controls and they just kept massaging our butts for some odd reason!) callus scrubbing, cuticle removal, and a little bit of massage when they put on the lotion. The polish was applied expertly and quickly, and I’m going to say we were in and out in less than 45 minutes.(actual pedicure part probably took around 30 mins) Personally, I’m not looking for a pedicure to be long and luxurious and last an hour, but I’m well aware there are people out there who want that, and for them, I would say this is not your place. But for me, I just want to be in and out quickly and feel the job was done effectively. Oh, and dirt cheap certainly helps. :) I will go there again for sure. Oh! Also, I did see them thoroughly scrubbing all their tools and the tubs after we were finished, which is always a worry for me, so that’s a big plus in their favor. Be aware they take cash only for anyone who is thinking of going.
