As a person who is pretty quick to call out poor customer service– I was very hesitant to come here. The reviews all indicate this would be a terrible experience and I would regret stopping in. Well– not to «yelper blame»…but my experience here was pretty solid. I was greeted upon entry, and the woman there was personable and knowledgeable. Having worked in retail I cannot drive home the fact that it can be a significant challenge to make everyone happy all of the time. Quite often people who come in upset and have already committed to having a bad experience. Like«if they don’t have my such-and-such I’m going to lose it!» mentality. That’s not good for anyone. So I give Sally Beauty Supply a solid five star review. The service was good, the selection was solid for such a small space, and the fact that they had a really decent showing of natural products was pretty impressive. I highly suggest checking it out for all of the fun professional goodies, and remember– you reap what you sow. Be nice to retail staff and they’ll be nice to you!

I don’t understand the horrible reviews for this location. I have been coming once a month for the last year and haven’t had a bad experience. The staff is pretty friendly and they always have great nail polish on clearance. Stuff can be a little disorganized but otherwise it’s a good store.

I’ve never had a problem coming here because I get what I need and leave. I know these girls don’t know much about hair, but they could at least know how to work the register.

If I could avoid going to Sally’s I would. The staff is very snobby and unknowledgeable. Unfortunately, I get a few products there that I can’t seem to find anywhere else that carries them. I went to Sally’s last night. Or tried. I walked up to the door at 8:40 and they had already locked them. Online, it said they were open until 9 and so did the posting on the door. The girl standing at the counter ignored me until I knocked on the window and pointed at the sign that said they were open until 9. She mouthed to me through the glass«we’re closed» and walked away. It’s a good thing when you go into a Sally’s location that nobody approaches or talks to their customers anyway, since there isn’t very much help to begin with. I will probably start ordering my products online. I don’t mind waiting for them to be shipped I f it saves me a trip here.

I dread going to this Sally’s location. I used to live in the Northeast section of Philadelphia, and would often go to the one near cottman ave. However, this south philly location is horrible. When you walk in no one bothers to say hello, or help you out, they seem to be on their own agenda, a number of times i’ve went in i’ve heard them cursing as well. The last time I went in, no one bothered to come up front either, I waited to be rung up for 10 minutes, and ended up leaving my items and walking out. Never going back there again.

Perhaps I just had the wrong expectations when I went in here-usually I tend to go in the more independently owned beauty supply stores, & I was hoping that this would have everything they had, plus more. But really, they didn’t have the best selection on alot of things, & their prices seemed high. Like on items that you also could find at drugstores, their prices here were higher, & for items that you can’t generally find in drugstores their prices seemed high on alot of things-for example, $ 8.99 for a set of dotting tools, exactly like the sets that go for under $ 3 on Ebay & Amazon. I was also hoping for what I refer to as ‘off’ brands of makeup & eyelashes-I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten items from brands that you don’t tend to find in drugstores from beauty supplies that wind up being just as good if not better while being half the price. But they didn’t have anything like that here. Their nail & makeup tools weren’t priced any better either, nor was their selection any better than a drugstore on many of the items. Now in all fairness to the store, I’m not a hairdresser, or nail tech, or beauty professional, so the type of needs they have may be addressed in here, but there’s alot of people like myself that aren’t professionals that are maybe just looking for a better selection, unique items, or better deals. They did have a good selection of Orly, China Glaze, and OPI polishes though I will say.

My experience here was awful. I wanted to buy a stand-alone hooded hair dryer for $ 99. I explained to the store clerks that I had purchased that same brand before at a different Sally’s and that it didn’t work. I asked if I could 1) buy the display model, and 2) plug it up prior to purchase to see if it worked. They simply said, «Oh, we can’t sell you the floor model and we can’t plug things up in here.» Even though there were at least three more like models in boxes on the shelves. What would it have cost them to let me test out the floor model, and sell me that one if it worked, and replaced it with one of the new ones? I ended up buying a different hair dryer from them but only because I was in desperate need of one. The store itself wasn’t so bad, probably just like any other Sally’s but the lack of customer service was the absolute worst. I guess they took their customer service training from the«Just Say No» institute. I will never go there again unless they’re under new management. Very disappointing and negative experience.

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid, when I would tag along with my mom. They have a huge selection of hair and nail items, but not much of what else is offered on their website. That could be because this is located in a very wee little space, so they don’t really have all the room in the world. The staff is pretty«meh,» but I’m not one who really needs their assistance most of the time. Oddly enough, I really like their little $ 0.99 eye shadows that link up as they really are good lower-end shadows, surprisingly. Overall this is a good place to stop in for some basics for either hair or nails, and they do have a rather impressive dye section. The one I went to in Vegas was much better, but for a quick run in South Philly, this isn’t the worst you can do.
