I had a lovely dinner last night. I ordered the filet mignon and asparagus and it was fantastic. The filet was perfectly cooked I was really impressed. The service is impeccable and our server was very knowledgeable about the menu. I would highly recommend it. I haven’t been disappointed yet from a visit!

came here on new years eve and just was not impressed at all with the service and the food wasn’t worth the price… the steak was ok. the salad if u want to call it a salad looked and tasted like they pick it out of the garden and throw it in the dish with nothing but cheese. The desert crème brûlée by the way came out cold and tasteless. everyone told me don’t come here and now i no why.

All I can say is whip out your fancy pants and come have a great meal at Capital Grille. I came to have lunch with my sister in law and I thought this was just going to be a high class red lobster. Well, let’s just say, I’m glad I didn’t completely slack on my outfit bc I would’ve felt completely out of place. The entrance is right on Market, lots of parking lots in this area as well. We had to make a reservation for lunch bc it was restaurant week and all the places downtown book up quickly. We were sat promptly and our various servers were always keeping our water filled and asking if we needed anything else. So above all, the service was amazing. As for the food, I started with the clam chowder which was delicious. I assume the regular(non-restaurant week) portion is much bigger bc it was $ 12 on the menu for a bowl as big as a tea cup. Nonetheless, the flavor was excellent, creamy but not overwhelming. My sister in law upgraded to the lobster bisque and was not every impressed, as it only brought 2 small chunks of lobster. As for my entrée, I had the steak salad with arugula, fresh mozzarella and roasted peppers. I really enjoyed the salad portion, the dressing was soft enough to enjoy the salad. I wasn’t a fan of the steak though, very bland, I had to add both salt and pepper. I know that a good cut of steak doesn’t need much, but ATLEAST some salt and pepper. Dessert was really the highlight of the meal, which was the flourless expresso and chocolate cake. This was a very indulgent ending to a semi bland meal. This was a «stick to the roof of your mouth» thick chocolate cheesecake. I personally enjoyed it very much, but I know many people don’t like that overwhelming flavor. I would really love to give Capital Grille 4 or 5 stars but aside from the service, there was nothing mind blowing about the food. I’m really glad I was able to try it out during restaurant week before dropping any serious cash on their regular menu.

My husband and I came here tonight for restaurant week. This was our first time at the Capital Grille, and we were NOT disappointed! We each had a salad, him the Caesar and me the mixed greens with roasted tomatoes, both outstanding. We both had the 14 oz bone in sirloin. Amazing! All the sides were delicious as were our desserts. Excellent service from our waiter too. We will definitely be back!

You can’t beat a perfectly cooked steak with consistently amazing service. I’ve been to capital grille a few times and returned for restaurant week last night. Contrary to most restaurants who participate, the dinner was just as great as it would be on any normal evening. We enjoyed caesar salads, calamari, filet, mashed potatoes, green beans, lobster mac and brussel sprouts. Everything was prepared beautifully! I love that their iPad drink menu let’s you sort to 90+ rated wines when choosing a bottle; even better was finding quite a few that were reasonably priced. Oh; and the flourless chocolate cake was delightful!

Two words: Restaurant Week! And the service + food were AH-MAZ-ING! I thoroughly enjoyed my visit at The Capital Grille. Our server, Tamara was awesome — so attentive, so informative and very pleasant. There were a group of us ladies there for a Sunday lunch. We arrived at 3pm which was technically lunch and got the $ 20 Restaurant Week deal. I ordered a Caesar Salad appetizer, Honey Orange Crusted Salmon with String Beans for an entrée and Crème Brûlée for dessert. I gave myself an extra treat by ordering the loveliness that is called Black Cherry Pie Martini — yes! First the food: * Caesar salad was great with thick shreds of parm on top. The salad itself was great and very flavorful. * The Salmon — OMG it was so tender, flaky, buttery, sweet, and filling! When I first saw my plate, I thought to myself«I am not going to get full off of this» — but I did! The bed of green beans with almonds worked along well. * The Black Cherry Pie Martini was oh so RIGHT! Most martinis are strong and in-your-face. But this one was smooth and sweet. The salt/sugar cherry mixture around the rim topped it off, as well as the maraschino cherry surprise at the end. * Last but not least, the crème brûlée: yum, yum, yum! No burnt pieces of brûlée, no super cold crème, just a warm bowl of buttery, creamy goodness to end the lunch. All of us who had the Salmon were satisfied. My one friend enjoyed her Dry Aged Steak and the Lobster Mac and Cheese that she shared with my other friends. Another friend had the cheeseburger and fries but thought it was pretty good, not«the best.» Great job Capital Grille! Definitely coming back! ;-)

My friends and I came here for restaurant week. Overall, the food was delicious, though slightly smaller in size. The salmon and steak were done to perfection. Polite staff to boot. As soon as we walked in, our coats were checked and we were seated. Our waiter, Gustavo, was informative — he even warned us of the weather! He was willing to take photos for us, and tried his best to serve us to his best ability. Occasionally a little slow, but we were in good company and the bread was endless. It was a good experience and the restaurant week lunch was a great deal!

My reservation was during restaurant week. I was treated like a customer paying ‘full price ‘. I was late because of traffic although they were busy the hostess Who answered the phone and name begins with ‘A’ was very gracious. The server Rob was excellent and so was the 3 course meal. I started with clam chowder then an aged dry rubbed steak with mashed potatoes and green beans the finale was crème brûlée. All very delicious. My only issue was they did not remove the crumbs from the bread they served after the 1st course but when they served desert. I would definitely go again and recommend The Capital Grille.

Came here for a 7.30 reservation on a Tuesday night, admittedly during Restaurant Week. We arrived 10 minutes early and the lobby was packed. We waited around 20 minutes and were seated by 7.40. Can’t fault the food — it was exceptional. This has to be one of the best Restaurant Week value deals in the City. Our steaks(dry aged, 14oz rib-eye) were delicious, if not a touch over done(my medium rare was a solid medium and my husband’s medium was a medium well). Regardless, delicious. Sides were ONPOINT. Seriously dreaming of those mashed potatoes and delicious green beans. We ordered Truffle Fries as well and they were superb. Dessert was flawless. Bonus points for having Restaurant Week cocktail & wine specials. Service however was… meh. We felt rushed from the moment we sat down. No coat check was offered so we awkwardly bundled coats & scarves onto the backs of our chairs. It took flagging down 2 seperate people to get us water. The waitress seemed distracted & busy and it lacked the class and poise of some of the other steakhouses in the city. While the food was great, I don’t think I’d be happy with the experience if I was paying non-Restaurant Week prices.

Sadly, I have to give my experience at The Capital Grille a 3 and it was not because of the food or the dining service. The food was amazing, great place for restaurant week! Our waiter(Gustavo) was fantastic, so nice and helpful! But the experience leading up to our dinner was far from desirable! 2 people from our party of 3 arrived 30 minutes before our reservation. We checked in and grab seats at the bar. At 6:30pm our 3rd arrived and we approached the hostess(Nichole) to let her know we were all present. She said our table would be ready momentarily. We checked in at 6:40pm and she said the same thing and the people at the table we’d be sitting at were paying. In this time we saw many people come in, and get say right away. We continued to wait. Finally at 6:55pm we were brought to our seats. With no apology whatsoever for waiting almost an entire half hour for our table when we were all present at 6:30pm. Have seen then many other parties get sat during that time we waited was very frustrating and we were disappointed we did not get an apology or any sort of acknowledgement for waiting.

The steak, which is supposed to be the signature, was just mediocre. It was fine but definitely not worth the money. The seared salmon was disappointing. It was too bland. The no bake chocolate espresso cake was pretty good, which is the only reason for the stars. It is way too expensive for the quality they provide.

Center City Restaurant Week starts today. I have a «restaurant bucket list», and this lovely restaurant is on it. I made my reservation on Open Table(THEBESTAPPEVER) for 8PM. Me and hubby got there a lil early, and they seated us right away! The ambiance was dark and romantic. It was pretty crowded and we were seated in the far back at a table(we prefer booths), but they had already been filled. Our waiter was great! Knowledgeable about the menu and the wine selection. I settled for the field greens salad with heirloom tomatoes, 14oz dry aged steak with creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. For my ending I chose the crème brûlée. The steak was AMAZING! Tender cooked just right with tons of flavor. No need for steak sauce here. You don’t want mask that delicious beefy flavor. Creamed spinach was also delicious. Mashed potatoes were a bit on the salty side. The Modavi cab was also a fine drinking wine. I should asked for another glass! The cream brulee was yummy! I ate mines and my hubbys! Awesome date night, and they validated my parking! Great restaurant!

Like a lot of Capital Grilles, and I’ve been to many around the country, always eating at the bar, the bartenders can be hit or miss. On average 70% great, the rest, apathetic. Philly has some really great servers, but a few bartenders should be sent packing. The older guy with shaved head and glasses doesn’t earn his keep. There’s a younger wise-ass bartender that I almost tossed out the front door recently for being a complete d-bag. Tips are not to be expected, but earned. Food always great, as is the atmosphere, at all locations — but management should more critically assess its customer-focused crew. Tenure, comfort and complacency can’t be tolerated.

Choosing to eat here for thanksgiving dinner was my mistake– but everything else that went wrong was theirs. Under normal circumstances and maybe under normal menu items capital grille earns a good reputation. I’ve had some of the more common dishes and never been disappointed, actually I liked them a lot. However, the thanksgiving dinner was cold, ill-prepared, poorly and disproportionately presented when served to two of our guests, and somehow the service that came with it was equally incomplete. It was my fault to assume that they could do thanksgiving dinner just as good as they do their regular lunch menu. To keep it short– some food was cold, some was forgotten, some more was forgotten after that, some was overcharged for, and there wasn’t a single smile from anyone the entire tonight, except maybe the hostess. Despite speaking to our server about seven different times, it was clear he simply didn’t want to be there. And while we may have been partially to blame for picking a 9pm dinner, speaking as someone who paid over a hundred dollars for undeniably poor food and service, I don’t feel the restaurant has any defense. I won’t be coming back here. Capital Grille isn’t doing anyone a favor by serving thanksgiving dinner. My guess is they’re probably forcing employees to work on a holiday when they don’t want to and in turn are letting down a large portion of their guests with highway robbery for cold food and even colder glances. To any managers feeling the burning need to rebut the truth, the simple answer is this: refund.

No restaurant is ever perfect. Any restaurant can make a mistake. It’s how the restaurant remedies a mistake that will determine its level of excellence. So here’s the story… About a month back I was in the city with my father-in-law to see the Mark Knopfler concert at the Academy of Music. After the show we decided to grab a late night bite. Being that The Capital Grille was close, we decided to eat there. It was about 10:00pm and we had no problem getting a table and were promptly seated by the hostess and given menus. After about almost 15 we realized that no waiter had come to the table. We asked a passing bus boy to grab our waiter. A waiter quickly came over to see what the problem was. We explained to him that no one had come to take our order yet. It seemed there had been a mix up between two waiters who were splitting our seating area as to who was waiting on our table. He couldn’t be more apologetic. Within one minute there were two mini crab cakes at our table followed by prosciutto wrapped mozzarella and fried calamari. All of which was delicious. And all of which was completely comped. We weren’t looking for any comped food but were more than happy to accept it. We followed with two delicious steaks. After the meal was complete two mini cheesecakes and flourless chocolate cakes arrived at the table. Comped. That folks, is how you remedy a mistake. We were completely blown away with the service that meal. All we wanted to do was place our order, and would have been happy to do so. Our waiter went above and beyond to make sure it was the most pleasurable meal we could have had, and indeed it was. That’s the sign of an excellent restaurant with excellent staff. I will surely be returning!

Yeah couldn’t find a flaw here but some items are better than others. I attended a work outing with 6 others. I got to the prosciutto wrap mozzeralla and cold shellfish platter apps. Proscuitto wrapped mozzeralla was warm cheesy and had a nice balsamic glaze. It was good but I wish I filled up less on cheese and more on meat/seafood. Shellfish platter had 2 lobster tails, 4 claws, a lobster head, shrimp, oysters served very cold on a bed of ice and it was more than our table could handle. They provided lemons and cocktail sauces, I was in heaven. For my main I got the 10 oz. filet medium rare but I did manage a bite of Yefim’s 22 oz Rib eye medium(under his supervision) and yeah his was better. With all the appetizers we got, there was no way I could handle more than a 10 oz cut. Dont get me wrong, my steak was very tender and cooked the way I wanted it but it’s hard to compete with the flavor of the ribeye.

Man, this place. It doesn’t matter where I go. These are old school professionals. I was flying solo at the bar. Jen and Jaime are the most fantastic hosts. The meal was absurd. Bone in ribeye. Let me taste the recommended Reds. Went with the mill creek from Sonoma. The prices are outrageous if you don’t play pro ball, but I love paying for the experience. True pro’s! Big band playing in the background, this is a steakhouse! That ribeye could have chewed itself. Great job!

This really was as good as it gets, for me at least! My bf took me to dinner here for my birthday, and boy was it a good choice! I’ve dined at the FL location while on business and vowed to give it’s northern siblings a try when a special time came, what’s more special than my birthday?! Def dress nice, the price tag fits the experience and was well justified in my eyes. White table clothes, servers and service were impeccable. Hostess could have been warmer, literally it was just«hello». Isn’t it the hostess/host responsibility to get your experience off on the right foot? Thankfully our server was perfect and I forgot all about the hostess(well, until now!) and my birthday evening turned out to be wonderful. I had a few glasses of Malbec to start, the bf had arnold palmer’s. We had been eating our way through Philadelphia during the day so we opted to skip a starter and get right to the main attraction. Dry Aged NY Strip med/rare with au gratin potatoes for me. Double Cut Lamb Rib Chops with twice baked potatoes for the bf. Yes to another round of drinks. While waiting for our food we made lights jokes about getting the meat sweats over the awesome complimentary bread basket — our meal arrived in a reasonable time and it was glorious! My strip was cooked to perfection, so flavorful from dry aging, so juicy, so delicious… I don’t know how I polished off a 14oz. steak in record time.(bf couldn’t either, we still joke about me inhaling this steak) The au gratin potatoes were good, not great, a little on the runny side for my preferences but I still enjoyed them. The lamb chops were to die for. I cannot recall ever having a lamb chop this good. It topped my fav. lamb chops I love at my fav. rodizio spot! I actually had a moment of food envy, I should have ordered the lamb chops. My bf tried to give me a chop for myself, since it was my special day… but I declined because I saw how into them he was! The twiced baked potatoes were amazing. They’ve since removed them from the menu(sad face) — I’m rallying to bring them back. I cannot recreate the flavor at home, I’ve tried. and I just cannot. We passed on dessert, on to the next food stop in my Philly birthday weekend for sweets! I truly enjoyed my birthday dinner, I cannot wait to go back!(and back we did go… to the KoP location for me to treat my bf for HIS bday!)
