Excellent popcorn, whiskey flight essentially everything including service here was excellent. I can’t wait to come back. The only issue I had if any was the chicken I ordered was the slightest bit try especially towards the end of the meal. It wasn’t a big deal and it tasted great otherwise so not worth making m a big deal. Come check it out cuase I think you might really like it.

Came here twice last week just for drinks. The first time was after dinner around 11pm. The bar upstairs had a live band playing but there was an option for another room to sit in with couches and tv’s. It was a friday night. Nice selection of beers and specialty drinks. The vodka, cucumber drink was very good. Second time was for happy hour on a Monday. Had the house chardonnay, allagash and brooklyn lagar. There were a decent amount of people in here and the food that they were serving to others looked good. Good atmosphere upstairs and downstairs.

I would probably give this place a 3.5, not a 3. We went during beer week so it was a little hectic, but we had a table outside which was nice. There’s an extensive drink menu– beer, wine, cocktails, and specialty whiskey and bourbon. I had wine and my boyfriend had a beer and a cocktail. We liked all the drinks! Started with the crawfish mac n cheese and the mixed greens salad. Mac n cheese was bomb and a nice sized portion. Mixed greens were good but nothing special for the price. It weirdly had mint in it too. I got hanger steak and he got the duck breast. Good food but nothing spectacular for the price you’re paying. We got 15% off food for checking into Unilocal and it still seemed overpriced. I probably would come for lunch or happy hour, but for dinner it’s not worth the price.

Stopped in for a quick lunch and the food was great! The plate presentation was a nice touch and the bartender was extremely friendly. He made some good recommendations for drinks and food too. Great experience overall :)

Came here on a Saturday night and had a really good meal. Thumbs up on the chicken pâté, amazing texture! Thanks to Ashley for providing us with a table outside when there wasn’t one available. On a warm summer night, eating outside was the way to go. Also, our server Hannah was very attentive and fantastic with recommendations. Will definitely return!

I went here for Mothers day and had a pretty interesting encounter. While the staff was friendly, the service was lacking. From the time we entered the restaurant until the time we left, we continually received conflicting pieces of information regarding the menu items and the availability. We tried the chicken wings for an appetizer. The wings were seasoned well but they had too much fat on them. For an entrée I had the soft shelled crab & brussel sprouts. Although the sprouts were a side dish, they stole the show. The soft shelled crab was good. My gf had fried chicken. Since she only wanted white meat, we were told we could get 2 breast(since we were sharing). However, when the food came out, she was served a huge breast which was too big to cut, so I just tasted a small piece. The skillet cornbread was very tiny. Over, the flavors were ok, and the staff was accommodating but this will go on my list of one and done. The food was ok, but nothing wowed me…

I’ve been to Twisted Tail a few times. They have a great brunch and bar menu and the staff are super nice. If you want country ham, cheese boards and an amazing whiskey selection this is a great place to chill. Dinner is a bit of a different vibe with a mix of small and large plates meant for sharing. It’s a little much for me and gets expensive pretty quick. The simpler lunch menu is more my style but, the live music is nice. The fried green tomato BLT is fantastic.

Its been awhile since I have eaten here and a review on the food wouldn’t be accurate. However, I recently came in for drinks with a few guests who are whiskey and bourbon fans and we were seated upstairs. The set up and décor of the upstairs is amazing. Can whoever designed this also plan my future house?! I adored the concept of the sliding tables which can be pushed to accommodate parties of any number. The beer selection was extensive. My fellow patrons were steered towards liquor of their liking, on the rocks. The«rocks» consisted of a big square ice cube which was aesthetically pleasing and apparently better for the drink. I would love to come back here for dinner again. I remember the fried chicken being yummy. TT is definitely a great place for a group who want casual drinks!

I got the fried chicken that was on the menu it was pretty good. Very tasty. Worth 21 dollars? I don’t think so. Probably worth 15 or something. My fiancée and I came at a down time. Wasn’t too busy or anything. When I asked the waitress what she would recommend, I felt as though she kind of didn’t know what to say and pulled the«they’re are my favorite» type of line. The environment was loud but the live performance was great.

We loved the flight of infusion cocktails as well as the unique and adventurous menu items. We tried the trifecta of baked mac and cheese, YUM. The duck nuggets were to die for and the lamb tongue was delicious as well. If you’re looking for a cozy ambience and killer food, come here! Features live music as an added fun touch. Come with an open mind and you won’t leave disappointed.

Came here on Friday night for happy hour… great prices on drinks but the food was subpar this time. The fried green tomato Blt was very tasty… I will come back for brunch. During winter months sit in the room on the opposite side of the door… Be prepared to wear your coat most of the time.

If your looking for a good live blues venue in philly, this is the place. They attract some great local talent and the libations and fare are both strong. Enough room to dance, and enough talent to make you want to. No cover — So if you want to cut a rug, make you’re way down to head house square on a weekend night — maybe I’ll see you there!

I came here for restaurant week with my mom and partner. This was our third restaurant week dinner of the week and, while we were excited to try a new spot, we definitely weren’t expecting the fabulous experience we had at the twisted tail. First of all, our server(Colleen) was FABULOUS. We had spent the week drooling over the menu posted online for restaurant week, but were disappointed when we arrived, to see that the real menu was missing a few of our picks. Colleen was quick to ask the kitchen if we could make substitutions and they were completely accommodating. Her suggestions were thoughtful and enthusiastic. You could definitely tell that she loves working there(and eating/drinking there). We each had four courses for $ 35(in my opinion, a fabulous deal). We also tried a flight of cocktails made with all of their house infused spirits. We had a margarita with cranberry tequila(the best of the three), one with apple pie moonshine and cinnamon and one with bourbon/ginger/lemon. All were tasty but I’m not much of a drinker… the food, on the other hand, was dreamy for me. I had the smoked/grilled lamb heart with shaved carrots, pomegranate, picked grapes and puffed sorghum. It was perfectly balanced and lovely. I’ve never had heart prepared so well. My momma had grilled octopus with andouille sausage and potatoes(AMAZING) and my partner had baby carrots glazed in honey and bourbon. They were honestly probably the best bite of the night overall. Next up, duck nuggets with persimmon mostarda. Oh. My. God. They were the best. I’m dreaming about them. Giant croquettes of duck confit, fried crispy and served with pickles parsnips. Wow. Mom had shrimp and polenta(tasty and well seasoned) but not my favorite. Partner had Mac and cheese with the best bacon either of us have ever tried. Omg. For mains, I had PERFECTLY cooked short ribs(they fell asleep when I touched it with my fork) with amazing butternut squash purée and charred baby carrots/onions. It was a wow. My partner had braised pork shank over mash. Also a wow. Mom had butter poached cod with textures of parsnip and sunchoke. Also amazing. Dessert was a birch beer float with perfect homemade sugar cookies, poached pairs with vanilla ice cream and ricotta beignets with bourbon caramel. The vanilla ice cream from the float and pears as well as the pears themselves were things of beauty. Also, we brought home some of their country ham and WHOA. it was delicious. Long story short. I’ll be back. Soon…

This place was very neat. We got to sit at these cool sliding tables that they could adjust to party size(smarty pants) and the décor was pretty quirky and fitting to the style. We had come for restaurant week and everything we ordered was great. None of the plates were overwhelmingly delicious but everything was done well. I know, restaurant week is not the best time to assess a place’s potential though. Our server was very sweet and professional, and everything came out in good timing. We tried the octopus which had a good developed flavor and presentation but not the best cooked octopus I’ve had. The squash soup was probably my favorite with delicious dumplings in them. All our entrees were very good. Couldn’t pick a favorite between short rib, fried chicken, and pork. Beignets were good but tough to call them an actual beignet over a donut hole. I would definitely come back! They have live music frequently so if you want to grab a good bite, some good whiskey, and have a band right next to you, this is the place.

I’m speechless so I’ll keep my review short and sweet… Service, Food, Décor all amazing… My server was attentive and outgoing. I ordered the Pork shank which was finger licking good; tender and seasoned to perfection. If you enjoy phenomanel food, this is your place.

Kids. You can definitely get twisted up in this piece in the very best of ways. Magnificent cocktails. I’d been a-hankering to go to this place for about 9 months before I finally convinced a few work chums to head on down. Now they’re hooked! Holla! Whenever and whatever infusion cocktails they might be offering, you should try the flight. It’s a delightfully, heady, generously poured surprise. Example: Gin and I ain’t exactly copacetic. It usually treats me like the bastard child out of Carolina, but I had a champagne, St. Germain infused gin-based cocktail up in here and chirren! Slurped it all the way down and woke up the next day feelin’ alright, unh hunh. That never happens with gin. Usually I never fall asleep until 1 hour before I’m s’posed to get up and then it looks like I went 17 rounds with a porcelain ringmaster(and the big bowl won). That cocktail was deftly concocted. So, so deftly. The other 2 in my flight were bourbon and tequila based, and both of those rock me in the cradle of love. They were sublime. The atmosphere is terrific. It’s got the juke joint vibe thanks to all the hardwoods and swanky, lowly lit lighting, but it’s sturdier than any place Shug Avery ever sang :) Fried chicken in a bag. Get ready for the new finger-lickin’ goodness. And the pork cracklin’s! Oooh wee. And you thought pop rocks effects were the most fun! Honestly, everything I ate and drank was divine and the service was the right amount of downhome sweet and attentive that I usually tend to expect when I’m back home in the South. I love this place. Lookin’ to head back on a Friday so I can get that 1 burger, 1 bourbon, 1 beer thing a-going.

I just finished an intense 3 day google search of «how to tell mom you’re not moving back home,» and I’m ready to write my review of The Twisted Tail. I’m not kidding. After eating there, I am: 1) sending my landlord a fruit basket for letting me rent so close, and 2) kicking myself for going so long without trying The Twisted Tail(TTT). Enter Restaurant Week. I call it another way to drain the bank account. My girlfriend(most likely) calls it an excuse to get out of meatloaf and pasta at my drafty apartment. Either way, we agreed a short walk and a good meal would be the perfect solution to our Tuesday bluesday. After months of passing TTT on my way to CVS in head to toe sweats, my lady thew a nice shirt on me and booted me out of the door. Immediate good vibes the second we walked in. TTT had the dimly-lit, live-music atmosphere we were looking for. Nicki or Vicki(?) was a fantastic guitarist and singer, and played songs from the late 90s/early 2000s. We were later told that TTT has live music every night except Monday. I felt weird clapping from the back corner, unable to see her play. But go ahead, Nicki or Vicki. Do your thing. We decided on the $ 35 four-course meals. One dish each from the appetizer, charcoal grill, entrée, and dessert lists. I think names like good lord, marry me, never leave me, and die with me would be more fitting for the list names, but hey, that’s just my opinion. Between the shishito peppers, pulled pork empanada, glazed salmon, and brownies with ice cream, I still can’t decide which dish was my favorite. As if picking«last meal on earth» for my Unilocal profile wasn’t hard enough… Another thing worth noting was our complimentary roasted cauliflower dish. While we were enjoying our charcoal grill items, the manager came over and apologized for their slow(??) service. I know some chain restaurants more or less throw your entrée in your lap before you’ve taken one bite of your appetizer, but jeez. I didn’t think we waited long at all! And free or not, the cauliflower was delicious. Allow me to talk about their service. Our server, Olive, was incredibly attentive and pleasantly knowledgeable. I fancy myself a whiskey drinker, but I learned a few things at TTT before leaving. Great job by management to have such a helpful and intelligent(!) staff. Towards the end of our meal, she even had a small conversation with us about the history of the restaurant and their plans for the future. Believe me, Olive my friends are going to hear about how awesome TTT is. I cannot, cannot, CANNOT wait to come back. Sorry mom, we had a good run.

Thanks to very helpful and friendly Philly citizen we found this lovely spot for dinner. We enjoyed the one or other beer at the bar while waiting for a table outside. The Service was quick and friendly and the food(we had Burgers and Salad) was yummy from my point of view definitely worthwhile another visit
