#105 Um, Versailles residents, why haven’t you reviewed the awesome merits of this apartment building yet?! Where’s the love? Haha. In all seriousness, this place has been the perfect first apartment for me. For the price that I pay, I’d be living in a shoebox just down the street with no utilities paid for if I didn’t happen upon the Versailles. Here, you get almost 1000 sq ft of space in a 1-br apartment for the same price! I’ll admit, I was so turned around when I first had to look for an apartment in the city just last summer. I went from apartment building to apartment building, checking out tiny, little boxes that cost a tidy fortune. Fortunately, the manager at 257 Apartments — after admitting that the first floor apartment he showed me was a dud — mentioned The Versailles. So, after giving the Drake apartments a quick unsatisfactory go-around, I made my way to The Versailles. The building manager that Saturday was friendly and showed me a 1-br apartment on the 14th floor that didn’t quite work out(and was a bit out of our price range). However, when I mentioned that I would be sharing the place with a roommate(I’d be taking the dining room and her, the actual bedroom), she realized that there was an apartment on the 3rd floor with the exact same layout, as well as 2 separate entrances into the kitchen. Perfect! That way, my roommate wouldn’t have to go through my bedroom to get into the kitchen! Since then, Judy — the building manager — has been great to work with, no matter the circumstances. Our doormen are the friendliest guys, there to greet you each and every moment you step in — or out — of the door. The handymen and super have great attitudes and respond to work orders within 24 hours. Plus, we have a gym, complete with 2 treadmills, 2 ellipticals, 2 cycling machines, a universal weight machine, and its own bathroom. My entire apartment is filled with hardwood flooring and, despite the fact that the kitchen isn’t of the highest quality, it works and I’d rather take what I have than shell out extra money for granite countertops. Our heat and water are paid for each month, while we cover the gas(just for the stove) and electric. All in all, if you’re looking for a decent place to live right in the heart of Center City, look up The Versailles and ask for Judy.
