The best little book store on Earth. It’s just unique and so old fashioned. I. love going in there with nothing particular in mind, looking high up and in every nook and cranny, I. usually end up with several different kinds of books, and Greg and his staff are more than happy to assist you in finding anything you are looking for. I’m sorry they are leaving their current space, but I lucked out they are moving in my neighborhood, right up the street. I am also glad that they are continuing their summer concert series.

There’s not an inch of free space in this store – books are stacked to the ceiling! It’s a wonderful place to browse and indulge in a literary treasure hunt. There’s everything from new books to first editions. The manager who was there the day I went was so helpful and went out of his way to find a few things for me. At first glance, it’s an overwhelming place, but there’s an order to the chaos – just make sure you ask someone who works there. Everyone’s extremely friendly and willing to help! My only wish is that it wasn’t such a hike for me to get there!

I had been meaning to come here for the longest time, and when Living Social came up with a $ 10 voucher for $ 20 worth of books, my backlog of reading material ceased to be a legitimate excuse. It took two people a solid hour to fill a big bag full of $ 20 worth of books(with tax, we went a little over), half made up of stuff we had been meaning to read, and the other half a somewhat random selection by authors we enjoyed. Most paperbacks are just a buck or two, and they cover just about every genre, so you’re bound(!) to find something of interest. And the resident cat is a perfectly giant sweetheart. I just wish the place were bigger or better organized, as a lot of books are stacked in piles with spines to the side or wall and others are in plastic storage bins on shelves. Still, definitely check this place out before hitting up one of the chains or online bookstores.

I have always had great results in finding something interesting to read. For myself or for my son. From my son as a toddler, to this interests as a teenager, to my interest in Latin American writers, its always great! I would occasionally send my son and his friends with a reasonable amount of money to root around for a book and sit under the big shady tree. Much better than sitting around the house no? Walk A Crooked Mile is a family bookstore that not only offers rare books and used books but great music in the summer evenings. Thanks Greg for always being there to provided us with great books and wonderful family memories!

I wanted to echo the sentiments of the other reviewers. Super friendly owners, books EVERYWHERE(in the best possible way), and complimentary coffee or tea. I wouldn’t have known about this place were it not for the Living Social coupon which the owner happily accepted. The books are inexpensive but unlike many bookstores in the area — where you either sacrifice selection for a fair price or the other way around — I found an incredible selection at extremely low prices. I left the place with around 20 books and I couldn’t believe I had gotten them all under one roof: Lynda Barry(my personal favorite and one which doesn’t pop up too often at used bookstores), Jonathan Franzen, Orwell, Nabokov, Katherine Dunn, Muriel Spark, Kazuo Ishiguro. The only complaint that I can even imagine is that some of the books in crates up front were packed in so tight that it was difficult to get to the back when browsing. Oh, what a problem to have.

This place is amazing! If you are in the mood to browse, explore, and find hidden gems, this is the store for you. Also, since the books are used it is cheap. Last night I bought 6 books for under $ 18!

The friendliest bookstore in the world! Often there is free coffee, tea, or cocoa for browsers. This is an old train station’s stationmaster’s residence converted into a funky bookstore. The owners filled every nook and cranny with more used books. What it lacks in organization and spaciousness, it makes up in charm, selection, and prices. A neighborhood gem!

WONDERFUL bookstore with everything… everything…including a cat, free cup of coffee and miles of books in hidden dusty attic corners. The wind howls thru the place but the books make it warm in the coldest day. Browse for hours or call Greg and ask ahead of time for what you are looking. He is bound to have it. Philosophy, magazines, novels, reference, books in French, Greek, German, poetry, old, new, cheap all, dime paperbacks, everything. Check out this amazing gem in an old SEPTA train station Mt. Airy before he has to close for economic reasons. Save the store for the rest of us by buying one fantastic book(bet you can’t buy just one!) and keep this area institution going for years to come. I love the place. I go here before I ever go to Borders, or even online. And right up the street!

I didn’t know about this place until I saw a flier for them on a walk to Brewer’s Outlet(a different story) and checked them out a few days later. It’s kind of a hot mess. I wouldn’t go with a particular title in mind because even if it’s there. good luck finding it. I only went because I needed something to read and it’s a reasonable walk from where I live. Using biographies as a starting point I wandered around for I’m not sure how long with the store cat never far away and left with an armload of books. The books are everywhere, even in the bathroom. I hadn’t even realized I was in the bathroom until I saw the toilet and noticed a few rolls of toilet paper here and there among the books.
