Everything I read on Unilocal about John is true. He spent a lot of time going through my machine and educating me in the process. Even though I’ve taken sewing classes and have sewn most of my life there were things about my machine I didn’t know. John fixed that too.
On the upside, I didn’t have to pay by the hour. I didn’t have to schlep the machine out to my car and fight traffic and be without it for two weeks. I didn’t have to wait for weeks to get an appointment. John came to my house two days after I called him and charged a flat (very reasonable) fee. My machine sounds better than when it was new.
On the downside, nothing. There was no downside.
If your sewing machine is temperamental and on the fritz, call John. You’ll be glad you did.

John drove to my house to take a look at my 1966 Singer Fashion Mate that wasn’t working right. He was able to find what was wrong and fix the part on spot. Now, it is working like a dream! I haven’t been able to stop sewing ever since he left! I would definitely recommend him to others and use him again. John came to my house on time, cleaned my Pfaff and oiled it. He was polite and professional. I would not hesitate to recommend him. Keep in mind he did raise his rates a bit ($ 10.) but so much easier then taking your machine in and it costing an arm and leg.

After reading the reviews of the closest place to have my sewing machine serviced I kept looking and found John on Unilocal.It’s all true he comes to your house, charges one flat fee and my 1955 Singer hasn’t sounded so good in years. It’s just singing along. I will recommend John to friends and neighbors without hesitation. It may seem kind of odd he comes to your house but I was totally okay with him. He has been fixing machines for a long time and is courteous and hard working.
