Two Hippies Magic Mushroom Burgers

My go-​to place for lunch if I’m hungry and want something cheap and good. I call their fish tacos, whale tacos. Two HUGE fillets. Very friendly and cool staff. Only downside is it’s slow if you get there right at noon. Avoid the rush if you can.

I rate based on my personal expectations and never comparing to other establishments. This was my first time in here and I really had no idea what to expect. What I didn’t expect was a great burger with fries and a drink at a great price. Less than $ 6! and it’s a neat little atmosphere.
There are other places to eat within the building but I have yet to try them out.

My first experience with two hippies was today, and I’ve got to say that it was a pretty great. First off the person who took my order was really chill and friendly. Second, the atmosphere was also pretty cool. There’s a lot of interesting stuff in the small eatery and it’s connected to the other two restaurants so that’s cool. The biggest thing for me though was the food, I ordered the kick ass burger to go. My food came out pretty damn quickly for the size of the patty (I work in a bar/​grill so I know how long burgers CAN take.) I unfortunately wasn’t able to get to my burger as quickly as I would have liked to because of traffic, but by the time I got to it I was thoroughly surprised. You know how when you order food to go, and if you have to wait just a little too long the bun soaks up the juice and the whole thing just sucks? Well that didn’t happen. This burger was still super bomb, and I would highly recommend this place. I feel like I have a pretty high standard for burgers in Phoenix and two hippies not only knocks it out of the park with flavor but also with price! $ 6 for one of the best burgers I’ve had downtown. If you’re a burger fan, do yourself a favor and check two hippies out. You won’t regret it.

Amazing food for the price. Had the shroom burger, fries, and a soda for $ 5. Great service and polite staff. Looks sketchy from the outside, but so glad I stopped in. Will definitely return.

Tried the fish tacos today. Wow! Not only are they huge, you get two of them with fries and a drink for $ 6. They were very tasty! Staff was also super friendly, this place easily gets 5 stars from me!

My husband and I were across the street getting the oil changed in our car when we Unilocaled (of course!), saw this place and decided to go check it out. We got a double cheese, double meat, double bacon cheeseburger, a veggie burger, two orders of fries (that were deliciously seasoned), a can of coke, and an iced tea for $ 13.00. Yes, the food was good, really good. However, typically there are reasons for such low prices and this place was of no exception. There were flies and the over all place seemed to be pretty dirty but it’s a divey kind of place with cheap food. You get what you pay for and for $ 13.00, I’d say we did pretty good.
Food was four stars, quality and condition of the place was two-​three stars, at best.

Good food and awesome prices!
The staff is super friendly. I think it’s awesome there’s three restaurants all combined here.
Only thing I would change is more space to eat.

Came here for lunch after taking care of some issues, and figured we’d have a couple of burgers. You get a much better deal here ($ 20 for 4 people) that at the chain burger place around the corner.
If these guys delivered, I’d give them the 5^th star…

Went from terrible, to Excellent, to just ok and on a steady decline.
Years ago this place was terrible. Then Brandon came in and brought it back to life. It was hands down the best place on the block to grab a great lunch at a great price. The line was out the door every day during the lunch rush, primarily with the overwhelming support from the 2000+ employees at the VA hospital who were tired of cafeteria food, Wendy’s and Crack-​in-​a box. The staff was great, friendly, polite and it didn’t take long before they knew your name. Then something happened…
Not sure what it was. Greed maybe? Prices are going up, quality is going down and the quality staff is nowhere to be found. What happened to Brandon and the other smiling faces that were hustling to keep customers coming back every day? What happened to the damn pizza? You can’t even call it pizza anymore. Might be time to reconsider your business plan.

This place has become my favorite lunch spot for a grab and go. The burgers are some of the best period. You can not beat the value, a sauteed mushroom and onion 1/​3lb burger with fries and a can of soda for 5 bucks! Both times I have been in there the staff was remarkably friendly.
The only real con to this place is that there really is no seating and it is fairly tight. This makes this a pick up and go place.

Super gross. under cooked fries. Greasy burger made with sub standard meat. Cheaper than jack n the box for a reason. And staff was cleaning the hood during biz hours. Yuck.

I’ve never had a burger this fresh since forever. One cool thing about this place is that it’s so cheap. I mean. Thick juicy burger, with a zillion toppings and fresh cut fries and a drink for five bucks. You can tell that a lot of soul was used in preparing this food. Big ups to the owner, this is a must visit spot in Phoenix. Ten stars.

Yum! I’ve only eaten here twice so far, but sad I didn’t discover it yrs ago. The bacon cheddar burger is fantastic and heavily topped with so many condiments & toppings, cooked to order. And unbelievably priced. What a fantastic deal, seriously.
My only complaint is those burgers are so good they keep me from trying the other choices there and at the 3 neighboring shops (all under one roof, all owned by the same guy who also owns all the Long Wongs) delicious sounding/​looking selections.

Amazing food, Impeccable Service, Incredible Prices! This place is AWSOME the food is delicious. I have never had poor service or bad food. They have a wide variety of foods and have recently opened a section that sells pizza and gyros.
For $ 5 you can have a very large gyro, a side and a drink! They also have five dollar burger meals and more. My children love this place and have made a wide variety of choices from their menu. They love them all. If you are ever down by the VA, stop in and enjoy a meal. You won’t regret it.

I had heard about this place multiple times and I finally got a chance to check it out. I totally understood what everyone was raving about! This is such a great spot. I had a burger and it was excellent. Plus, you cannot beat the prices! It is a total steal. It does get busy, so I would definitely hit it right before or after the lunch rush. There is also not much space to eat inside, only a few tables, so be prepared to take it to go.
