Mellow Mushroom

We ordered Pizza to go. We tried both the house special and the potato. Both were very good, but a bit pricey for what you get.

The sign says open till midnight… we walked in, stood in front of the receptionist table for what felt like an eternity, while several employees stood about 30 feet away at the bar area staring at us. We were finally greeted by a young man who decided to walk over and nonchalantly tell us they closed at 10, and most things closed early around here this time of year. He did recommend an alternative, but why have your doors open and have a huge flashing sign advertising «OPEN TILL MIDNIGHT!» if that isn’t the case? Then act surprised when a customer walks in attempting to eat at your establishment?
I had been to this location once before a couple of years ago, and I was not very impressed. The food was pretty good, but it was roughly $ 60 for a pizza and cheese knots… that’s ridiculous. I just paid that same amount a couple of days ago for two 12 ounce ribeyes at The Old Mill, and if you’ve ever been there, you know what a crazy amount of food you get.
I was willing to give The Mellow Mushroom a second chance, as I knew most things would be closed on a Tuesday at approximately 10:10 pm, but I will not be attempting to give them my patronage again.
I went down the road to Geno’s, which is open until 1 a.m. Sunday-​Thursday and 3 a.m. Friday and Saturday with free delivery, by the way. I am sitting in Geno’s waiting on my pizza as I’m writing this. I will be posting pictures and reviewing them in a few moments.

Not bad. Good service and the food is what you expect from MM. Easy location to get in and out of. Nothing to complain about here.

Let me start by saying — the pizza is amazing. I live in NYC and have been to Italy and this can definitely be in my top 5 fav pies. I had some confusion with the bar tender which started the meal off on a bad note (a kicked keg, followed by serving me a $ 18 32 oz bottle without telling me beforehand) but the food made up for it.

Food and service were good. Very expensive though for pizza. Large (8 slices) pepperoni, large supreme, 5 wings was $ 55.00 plus tip.

Great décor. Great service and great food. Got the mushroom soup always good. Meatball sub good too much bread. Hubby got meat pizza always good. We love this spot will return close to starbucks and magiquest!!! We always notice how fast the food comes out here! Friendly server made us laugh a lot.

My wife and I went here while on vacation in Pigeon Forge. She has a gluten alergey and ordered their gluten free pizza. She loved it! I had the steak and cheese calzone which was very good. Would definitely recommend this place for pizza type foods when in the area.

I have visited Mellow Mushroom in almost every location I have traveled where there is one. I went to my first on when I around 2 or 3 years old in the 70’s. That being said, every location is a five star in terms of the menu, but not all locations are the same in terms of beer selection and service.
This location has a decent range of bottled beers, but their draft beers are slightly inconsistent and do not always cover the range of beer profiles. This is also the third visit to this location; service is always decent, but not necessarily great. Serving staff rarely knows the beers and service can be slow, at least after 9PM. despite them not being that busy then.
Décor in this location is great and love the «happy» trees on the wall, but waaaaaaay too many TVs and if you have them all, don’t show the exact same sports program on all of them. Some of us hate TV, and especially having to watch repetitive sports.

It’s been years since we went to a Mellow Mushroom, so first night in Pigeon Forge, I knew where we were eating. It was just like we remembered it with great choices and great tasting pizza. We ended up with 5 pizzas for 6 adults and 3 kids (one being gluten free, so I didn’t try that one, but was told it was one of the better gluten free pizzas they had). The good, the Shiitake pie and the Caesar were both outstanding. The bbq chicken and deluxe (whatever they called it) were decent but didn’t live up to the other two. Nice chewy crust, which is my favorite, great stuff.
Service was ok. Our waiter was a little slow, but the place does have a Mushroom vibe to it. I count slow as the occasional empty cup. Manager was pretty good when he saw the hostess sat 9 of us at a tiny booth where we could barely fit, he came up to us without us asking to see if we wanted to move to bigger table.

We went in for a late lunch and the place was not very busy. We were seated and started looking at our menus. The waitress walked by us several times never making any attempt to speak to us. After I began to get our stuff together to leave she finally came over. We love the «Mellow» but the service at this one in a town where service really counts was horrible

Mufaletta cheese bread and house special pizza… both yummy! I thought the margarita left something to be desired but our waitress was great!

Mellow Mushroom’s a great place for families to have pizza. Thus, if you’re not a fan of loud families or kiddos, move along. But you’ll miss out of a great selection of pies and other goodies.

This was my first visit to any Mellow Mushroom franchise and I must say I was very pleased. We were seated quickly, our server had a great attitude and was attentive, and the food was delicious.
The pizza is thick so if you aren’t a big eater, consider the medium rather than the large.
We had the House Special pizza and a couple beers. Everything came to us quickly and the prices were very fair. Especially when you consider the tourist town location.
I’ll eat at another Mellow Mushroom again on my travels.

What can I say but delicious! Originally ate at one of these in Savannah, GA a few years back and found one on our last trip to Pigeon Forge a couple years ago. Well on this trip back it was our first stop. Just as awesome as we remember it. Great service, fun atmosphere, and tasty food. Started off with spinach artichoke dip – and wow – it was one of the best we’ve ever had. For entrees we’ve only ever done pizzas (which all are delightful), but did see calzones and sandwiches come out of the kitchen looking scrumptious as well.
A must if you’re in the area. This is forever a staple to our trips here.

Great menu, good food. Got poolside delivery, pepperoni/​sausage pizza, baked wings, meatball appetizer. Pizza was very good, wings had good taste but not crispy (a little soggy). Meatball good, but too much cheese on them. Would go back to try more of menu.

HOLY SHIITAKE PIE!
I’ve been here a few times in the past but sometimes the SERVER an make the experience.
Not one time did we have to ‘ASK’ for anything. Our server, HANNAH, was on top of our needs… everything from drink refills, to take home boxes, to dinner ware.
Mellow Mushroom has two locations in this part of town. The other location is ridiculously busy because it’s at the Island, which has relieved some of the crowding that normally takes place at this location.
We were sat in the overflow area, the ‘dead section’, of the restaurant. Apparently this is the section that they don’t sit people in unless they request a specific server. Unfortunately the overflow section is dark and not too much fun to sit in. IF you want to best experience every at the Mushroom… sit by the front windows or near the «fireplace» that is void of fire but full of glowing lava lamps.
Drinks are refillable! SCORE!

Holy Shiitake Pie
A blend of Shiitake, Button and Portobello mushrooms with Caramelized Onions on an Olive oil and Garlic base with Mozzarella and Italian MontAmoré cheese drizzled with Garlic Aioli and a spritz of Black Truffle Oil. Garnished with fresh chives and shaved Parmesan.
Delicious. I only ate half of my 10″ pie… brought two pieces home… at them for lunch after reheating at 400 degrees for 15 minutes and they were DELISH all over again!

Why are these not in the Chicagoland area? Oh right, cuz we know SOOOOOO much about pizza. Just ask Papa Johns, Toppers, Pizza Hut, Dominoes, Giordanos, lil Caesars or any of the other monstrosities that pepper our city like so many red pepper flakes that stick into the roof of your mouth and cause discomfort.
In Chicago, the good pizzas are Pequods, Piece, Lous and maybe a handful of other small places that know how to do it right. Mellow Mushroom is so bomb you guys. Serious, you need to get what I get, Kosmic Karma with pepperoni and a beer. Pizza is the answer and beer is the question. Both of them are why I keep my shirt on at the beach. Whatever I’m working on it, get off my case.
Any place that encourages drug use iin the south, I am all about it. And I love how all these places in Pigeon Forge are staffed by 12 year olds who dont know what to say when I tell them I am tripping balls right now and proceed to stroke all the t shirts.
Serious though, cmon in and get a pizza for the family, they will love all the crazy crap on the walls.

I expected this location to be as great as the one I went to in Wilmington NC. WRONG!
I ordered the meat lovers pizza, buffalo chicken pizza and their baked buffalo wings. I was advised that it would be a 25 minute wait and I was fine with that.
Went to the bar waiting and had a drink called The Zombie which was really good while I was waiting for my food.
The meat lovers pizza was just as good as the one I had in Wilmington NC, but the buffalo chicken? There was barely any chicken on the pizza!!! How disappointing! I paid $ 64.95 for large pizzas and wings only to have one of pizzas be subpar Do not get me started on the wings! Tasteless with barely any buffalo sauce and soggy. I like my wings to be sticky and saucy. These were the worst wings I have ever tried. I hope that that was just a fluke, a one off. Needless to say, next time I will just order Dominos when I go back in November to Pigeon Forge.
