Love love love my hair… thanks to Alice at Thee Salon. She went above and beyond to give me the hair that I have always wanted. She was friendly & really helpful. She worked her magic. You can definitely tell that she loves what she does and takes it seriously. I will definitely be a long time client. I was looking for good hairstylists in my area and of course I turned to Unilocal.Alice had so many great reviews (now I know why) so I gave her a call to book the appointment. I called on Friday and she got me in Monday. Her prices are phenomenal, especially for the time & effort she puts in to your hair. You will NOT be disappointed if you choose Alice.

I truly appreciate the fact that you were understanding about rescheduling because I was not feeling well the day of your original appointment.
We had rebooked for the following Wednesday and looking back at our texts, you had told me that Wednesday may not work because of something personal that had happened on your end. This was on the Monday before your appointment. I then replied to you right away asking if you’d like to reschedule. I also asked if you can come in 30 minutes earlier because I wanted all the time I could schedule to do your hair since you have not come for about 5 – 6 months. (This would not be considered a touch-​up but a color correction).
This particular week was a very busy week for me and I was turning people down so although you had not «officially» cancelled your appointment, I did not hear back from you for more than 24 hours when I had blocked out 2 – 3 hours for me to do a color correction for you. Therefore, I went with a gut reaction to book someone at your time. At this point, I could have texted you to confirm but because I knew you were going through something, I did not want to bother you so I gave it time but when I did not hear from you, I booked someone else.
I apologize that you are upset by this and feel that it was unprofessional but at the same time, I’m not sure how it was fair for me to wait and wait for your confirmation especially during a very busy week. Despite the busyness, I told you I could take you the upcoming Saturday.
I am sorry this misunderstanding has upset you so much to write this negative review. I take my profession and passion very seriously and would never purposely do something hurtful or unprofessional. I have never turned down a client even if it was a very big color correction like yours when you first came to see me. I give all my effort and heart into every client no matter the work involved.

I found this little gem sometime in the beginning of the year. Have been coming here to see Alice for touch ups. I made a Unilocal account just to comment on how unprofessional Alice has become.
I have been a loyal customer and always on time with appointments however I’m disgusted at how Alice would overbook someone after having a set appointment with me. I had an appointment for color change/​touch up originally for a Saturday but due to her being sick, we rescheduled for the next Wednesday. That following Tuesday, I did a follow up after a miscommunication and was told she booked a client at the time I had because it was going to take her a few hours to do a big color change. .SERIOUSLY? Then she goes on to tell me that she can take me in the late afternoon NEXT SATURDAY! Unbelievable!
If you’re looking for a place for color change, I do not recommend coming here at all! Alice is truly Unprofessional and not worth the money!

Heard about this place all the way in Costa Rica. I was extremely satisfied. I went from a soft black to gold, it looked natural but also dramatic. Alice is great.

Went in a day before and booked an appointment with Cindy. I got peek a boo highlights and I absolutely love them. They look so natural and she even gave me a trip that gave me more shape and body :)

So I have been back to Alice twice now, and both times she did an excellent job! she goes above and beyond to make sure that you are comfortable and my hair looks great!

Went to Vanessa for the second time. Got a trim again and did a few HIghlighted peek-​a-​boos. She was fantastic, stayed after hours because my hair was a bit stubborn and didn’t want to highlight to the color it was originally supposed to be but platinum does take more than one session. And since this was the first session, she didn’t let me walk out without both of us being satisfied with the blonde. And as far as the trimming, she really does listen to length. I hate getting my hair cut by anyone but I fully trusted her with my hair.
Despite the horrid people saying bad reviews, not only to Vanessa but to the other stylists; the heck with them, if they don’t like it they have no business being at Thee Salon.

I had a manicure and eyebrow wax done by Tina. She was very sweet, easy to talk to, and did a great job. I am so glad she is local to me. I’ve been to wonderful (pricy) shops in Albany and Berkeley. Tina is as good if not BETTER than those manicurists. She is affordable enough I plan on treating myself to a manicure more often with Tina.

Okay… My friend suggested to see Vanessa for a trim and some color O boy what a mistake I was looking around thinking should I go for it or should I not the salon look like a chaos to me:/ and while I was waiting the stylist Vanessa was talking to her client about her sex life and the size of her mans penis and here I had my 9 year daughter who overheard Vanessa’s conviction with her client I had to leave immediately I could not take it anymore:/// i would never put my foot in that messy salon ever again!!!

What a horrible experience. I was SO DISAPPOINTED and now I’m out more than $ 90.
Where to start.
1) I asked stylist Vanessa if I could pay with a credit card. She said yes. But when I went to pay at the end and she used Square to handle the credit card payment, she tacked on the Square surcharge for ME to pay. The receipt says «sales tax» but she explained it is not sales tax, it is Square’s charge.
Not only is this illegal
but it’s also obnoxious to make the customer pay for YOUR costs of doing business. I have emailed Square to confirm policy but they haven’t gotten back to me.
2) I read about this salon on Unilocal,where it has gotten consistent 5-​star reviews. So I made an appointment sight unseen. BIG MISTAKE. The minute I walked in and saw the salon I should have turned and run. Seriously looks like an old lady salon somewhere in Kansas — flower wreaths from Michael’s, tacky old 5-​year-​old magazines etc. No sense of style or artistry.
3) I asked Vanessa for an asymmetrical cut. She looked at me blankly. A licensed hair stylist who does not know the meaning of the word «asymmetrical»? Am I dreaming or is this real? I asked for something «creative» and «bohemian» and hopefully a bit «edgy.»
4) What do I get? The color was okay. But my cut is just what you’d expect from a provincial salon in small-​town Kansas. I have an old lady cut from Kansas. I am so so so sad about this.

Have been going to Vanessa for years! Does the best Hombre color! My entire family has been going to Vanessa for over 10 years. Highly recommend her!!!

My close friend has a condition causing her hair to thin. Vanessa styled and cut her hair to flatter her face and diminish the look of hair loss. She gets raves about her haircut regularly since going to Thee salon too. Another save by Vanessa Vanasay! (My friend is a different ethnicity than I, which tells me Vanessa is skilled working with different textures and types of hair.)

I got my hair cut by Vanessa this morning and i am so happy with how it turned out! I hadnt had a good haircut in quite some time! She listened to how i wanted my hair and made sure i was ok with the length she would be cutting. She gave me beautiful layers. I will definitely be going back to her for future hair cuts. Try her!

Alice is Amazing! Hands down the best hair cut and shampoo I have ever had!
Alice took her time and made me fill very relaxed, like I was in good hands.
After looking at her body of work I would recommend Alice to all types really. Boys and men’s cuts; but most of all the work she’s done on the ladies is out of this world.
If I could put more stars I would; ask for Alice you will not regret it.

Had my haircut and make up done by Vanessa this past April. Haircut was pretty good but felt she gave me too much layers. I figured my hair was going to grow out anyways so no biggie. My makeup though, good job! I only get my makeup done by someone else if I’m going to a wedding and Vanessa did a great job at it. She used eye shadow colors I would never think of using and turned out fantastic. She also curled my hair as well and I suck at curling my own hair. Vanessa is so sweet and friendly, check her out at the salon. You won’t be disappointed.

Found my new hairstylist! I was lucky enough to get a same day appt and so glad I did! Very friendly & definitely reasonably priced, worth every penny! She brought my crown back! Thank you Vanessa! I love it!

My hairstylist is Alice. I’ve been going to her for years and she never disappoints. NEVER! She’s truly creative. I always leave 100% satisfied. When I go in for my appointments, sometimes I don’t exactly know what I want but I have a slight idea in mind. Alice gives her input and I put my trust in her abilities. Before I know it, I have a fantastic new look. She also makes herself available for appointments at your convenience. Alice is great! To top it off, she is a kind and warm person.

My usual hairstylist Richard is only making house calls since Anthony’s in Oakland closed, and the family I’m living with wasn’t crazy about the idea. So I was in need of a haircut and FAST since I’m doing a shoot on Saturday. Did a Unilocal search for hair salons in Pinole and found this one. When I called, Ann picked up and had me come in 30 minutes later. I figured her quick response could mean one of two things: 1) she’s awesome or 2) no one ever comes to this salon because the Unilocal reviews are a lie and that’s why she has so much availability.
Thankfully, it was the first reason: Ann’s great. She did my a-​line cut for $ 25 – half of what I usually pay at what I thought was a cheap rate because I’ve paid even more than that before. We had a great conversation and she was really sweet. (I’m a sucker for compliments.) When she learned I was going out of the country for missionary work soon, she even waxed the baby hair on my neck free of charge because it will last longer than just the buzz. Plus, I was in and out of there in under an hour.
I’d recommend Ann to anyone in the area who’s looking for a friendly stylist that gives a great cut for a good price.

I went to Ann last week for the first time and got a peek a boo style color done and my bangs cut. I was nervous at first but she convinced me that it would turn out great and I’m glad I went with her advice because as soon as my bangs were cut… for a moment I felt like the Asian Mrs. Obama!
Okay okay… so back to the «peek a boo» coloring… It came out better than I could hope for. Going from dark brown to blonde is not easy and she did it perfectly (no orangey color or bleeding). My hair doesn’t even feel at all damaged and still has that silky texture.

Ann is seriously the best! I first started getting my hair cut by her when she worked at Xcel Cuts. I usually get my hair cut every couple months, so when I called to schedule an appointment with her at Xcel and found out she was no longer there, I was super bummed. Then thanks to Unilocal,I found her at this salon!
I went in today and she trimmed my hair, fixed my layers, and cut my bangs – seems simple enough, but I’m never happy when other hairdressers cut my hair. I even brought my mom along with me so she could get her hair cut too. Ann curled her hair at the end and she absolutely loved it.
