I went there a few times while they were open. Went there today and they are CLOSED… Sad they didn’t make it

Where do I begin… I was told by a friend that this would be a great place to have crab since I never make it out that way much because of the reputation in Pittsburg. I decided to take a chance and go to the restaurant. Upon getting to the location of the restaurant, it looked like they were just opening at around five pm. This had been the first time I’ve ever been to this location. Upon entering I saw a young lady to which I asked is the crab safe to eat, she said yes, we get it from out of state. The place was empty on a Saturday night. There was not one soul in the restaurant besides myself and my wife. We decided to get an early meal and possibly a movie later, so we sat down only to wait what felt like 30 – 40 minutes. After putting our order in, we learned that they don’t only not sell soda but the service was moving faster if I had called in my order. After asking the waitress for bread and to refill the watered down tea that was served to us, I had had enough. I told the waitress we were leaving. And then I couldn’t believe the takeout service would take priority over two people in the whole entire restaurant by themselves. I was appalled when the waitress had the nerve to tell me they were more of a takeout place. Going to sit down, it would’ve been nice for someone to tell you that when you first came in, instead of waiting for a long time just to get iced tea and excuses. We didn’t get to taste the food so I can’t give you a review on that, but I can tell you that we won’t be back to the Location for the lack of service and uncaring staff towards their guests.

Went here last night, they did NOT go out of buisness. They have the best staff working there, everyone was so outgoing and friendly. The owner personally came out to talk to us and check on everything. The waitress was very nice and helpful. I will definatley be going back asap! They always have specials going on

The hubby and I had been craving crab for weeks but did not want to drive to the city or to Dead Fish. Decided to check this place out since the reviews were so good. We ordered the garlic crab and noodles plus the rice. The flavor reminded me of Thai. There was a sweet aftertaste to the rice and noodles… a little sweeter than I’d prefer but still good. I could only tolerate about a table spoon of the rice because it was too sweet and seemed a bit salty. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone with a taste for crab and preferring to stay local.

Crab is crazy good with different flavoring than the other crab places. So now I have more choices when selecting crab. I would say they have a more Cajun flavor while other places are more garlic flavor.

I was craving garlic crab last night and I didn’t want to prepare it myself nor did I want to drive to Thanh Long in the city. With that in mind, I decided to give The Dungeness Crab a try. I ordered a ½ crab with garlic noodles, low country rice and a whole crab and my total, for takeout, was $ 110. The low country rice was awesome even though they forgot to add crab meat. I would definitely return to this establishment for the low country rice alone. It’s very yummy and very similar to jambalaya… Without all the tomato sauce. The garlic noodles and crab were not anything special and were way overpriced. I paid $ 50 for a whole crab that was very small, appeared previously frozen, was quite dry and had very little meat. In addition, the garlic noodles were way too Greasy and sweet for me to enjoy so I was quite disappointed. Would I give TDC another try? Yes! But I would definitely dine in versus have my food packed for take out. I’m not sure I would order the crab again as it was pricey and rather ordinary… But I would definitely come get more of that delicious low country rice. I also would like to try the crab dip and seafood chowder. I’ve updated my review and given TDC another star. On both of my trips to TDC I’ve received great service from the staff. I highly recommend the low country rice. It’s delicious and warms up well the next day.

Went here last night for the first time and the food and service were fantastic! Everyone was so nice & helpful and I love the character of the old building it is located in. I had the dip & crab boil and can’t wait to go back again. Highly recommend this place!

Stop looking for a restaurant to eat at and head to The Dungeness. The crab is downright exquisite: savory, sweet, garlicky, and just a slight, but important, spicyness. Served with garlic noodles, I didn’t want the crab to end. The noodles were very garlicky, but not overly so. Get the Sunrise to drink: lemonade with mango. It was very refreshing and a perfect complement to the crab. If I lived around here, I’d be eating crab at The Dungeness all the time.

The dining experience was great the owners were very friendly we enjoyed crab legs but the garlic noodles had a sweet taste to it which I believe Overpowered the garlic in the noodles, I will definitely go back we spent about $ 30 each

I’m usually supportive of new thriving businesses, with this place you just don’t know if the food is going to be good that day or not. I’ve went and the food was pretty good. I’ve also ordered gumbo and it was served to me burnt. I’ve order take out and the bread was burned and you could see where they scrapped the burnt right off the bread, Smh horrible taste to start off with. The food is just too overpriced to take chances on whether the food is good today or not. I ordered today and everything about the food was horrible right along with the price. The servers don’t know anything about the prices or how to work the register as if they have poor training. I will not eat here ever again!

The food was AMAZING. My taste buds were dancing with joy! I ordered the«Lowcountry Rice and«Lowcountry Gumbo«Way too much food. The portions are huge and the prices are very reasonable. My husband ordered the TDC Signature Garlic Crab W Garlic Noodles. «WOW» is all i have to say. The combination of the spices, garlic, W a touch of sweetness. Definitely, a different taste. I’m happy there’s an excellent Dungeness Crab restaurant in the area and we don’t have to commute to the city. # DungenessCrabAMUST#DOWNTOWNPITTSBURGCOMINGUPWITHGREATRESTAURANTS.

Excellent! The garlic noodles awesome! Garlic crab awesome! I’m a pretty tough critic and this place hit the spot. The service was top notch as well. The portions are also decent. Because I ordered a pretty large dinner and my husband only ordered the garlic noodles the server felt bad for him and wanted him to be able to keep up with me, so he gave us an additional heaping bowl of noodles(lol)! I will definitely be returning!

Went to this restaurant expecting to be able to have a nice date night with my boyfriend. When I walked in there was no one to greet us. They only had the bar area open, however, they don’t serve alcohol. The food was pretty good we got the garlic noodles and whole crab for $ 40, and the gumbo. This is a good place to come maybe for takeout but if you want the full dine in experience I don’t recommend eating here. I’d give them some more time to develop.

The FOOD was AMAZING! Delicious! Came here last night with my boyfriend. Seeing how the reviews were so great on Unilocal and there were only $$ we were convinced. BUT– We came in, no one greeted us, we waited, we waited, because the waiter was on his cell phone. We sat down and finally decide to order. We ask the waiter what’s good what he recommends and he said depends on what you want, or like. Wow. Also Don’t let the menu full you if you’re not sure about the price you should ask. It’s not the same as the menu. Our date night which we figured to be about $ 30 turned out to be over $ 55.00! After ordering the waiter walked around on and off his phone, for the fact that I had to stop him and ask if we can have something to drink was crazy to me. Then he said well what do you want? I was speechless especially because there’s no drinks on the menu we wouldn’t even know what to order. Water. Just water please. He said oh you want water? –___– the only person that was attentive was the lady which I believe is the owner. Three stars for the lady and the food.

Unfortunately I can’t give this restaurant a good rating due to my wife and I having a memorable Valentines Day dinner here… when I say memorable I mean a night we wish we could forget! After getting to the establishment we both had raised eyebrows that the door was locked and we had to be let it. We were then greeted very professionally and sat at our tables. The hostess then went over the«rules» for the night and explained to us that the evening was a buffet and we could eat as much as we’d like until 7:45 with the exception of the crab and lobster which was limited to 1 crab per person and 2 petite lobsters per person. After going to the buffet line we were served small portions of the available dishes, which is understandable because it being a supposed buffet we could of course go back for more. However, the whole crab mysteriously turned into a half a crab and the 2 lobster tails wound up being a half of a petite lobster tail. Now please note my wife and I arrived late, about 6:45 pm so I went up to get more garlic noodles, crab and lobster, but there was nothing else being served and it was 7:15! While I asked to speak with the manager I began to speak with other guests and we all were blown away that there was no more food and that they stopped serving at 7:15 pm, so while still waiting for management to address the issue, more of us began to speak of our disappointment and realized that we all had been misinformed of what truly was to take place for our special evening. Personally as person who work in a professional industry, I would have come out and addressed the issue that I knew and also could hear taking place, but instead she chose to remain invisible probably hoping the situation would go away… how I don’t know but until I was pulled up front to speak by another woman, because I was vocal and not accepting what was taking place, that anyone even thought to try to address the debacle. Now during this time my wife had eaten 1 of the crab legs on her HALFOFCRAB and a portion of her garlic noodles. I had eaten HALFOFHALF of my crab and the portion of garlic noodles I had received… that was it, then came we are shutting down the food to get ready for the next show! My wife and I left out hungry, confused and most of all sad that our special night came down to this. The woman who spoke to me did try to make it right in all fairness, by offering a take home box, but as my wife stated to me how do you make what you believed to be a buffet, take home? At the end of the day, the script being sold was not what they were truly offering and then their feathers were ruffled because ALL the guest inside were bothered how things went down. As a owner or manager to then get upset is the wrong way to handle your business and flat out wrong. If you make the mistake you as the person making the mistake must either make it right by that person or accept their terms in order to make sure that they are satisfied, even in error, and hopefully return. I watch a couple who was upset, receive their money back and asked never to come back again… wow! I unfortunately will never dine here again but do hope they get their act together and succeed. One important word of advise… arrogance and attitude will never make you successful. Kill them with kindness and I bet you’ll go a lot further.

Valentine’s Day meal disappointment. We live in Pittsburg and try to patronize our small business community as much as possible. We both love crab and this spot was close to home so we decided to go.
1. Pre-fix menu items not listed on their website(pricing only). 2. We arrived early and instructed to sit in the bar area(there aren’t any beverages available in the bar). 3. We had to pre-pay before we were seated for dinner! 4. Cute table setup with the pre-fix menu resting on the dinner plate, red vase with faux red rose and black tablecloth and napkin. 5. After waiting 20 minutes in the dining area(still no beverages available) the owner«Sunshine» introduced herself, shared history of the business and the meal flow for the evening. She mentioned there were 2 more seatings for the evening at 8 and 10, everything on the menu was available and we could eat as much as we wanted until 7:45. 6. Each table was to be instructed when time to stand in the«buffet line» to be served. 7. For $ 136.25 we had; salad, crab dip appetizer w/partially toasted baguette slices, clam chowder, string beans, potatoes, beef w/mushrooms, ½ crab, 2 prawns, 2 shrimp, ½ petite lobster tail, dessert bar(cupcakes, cheesecake and chocolate dipped strawberries). Oh yeah, featured beverage for the evening«Sunshine lemonade». 8. Total chaos ensued; we were never told when to get in line, never received the water we requested, clam chowder given to us in «to-go» containers and… 9. At 7:20 we were told the serving room be shut down at 7:45 to prepare for the next seating. Of course we returned to the«buffet line» then told we were only allowed 1 serving! SEE #5ABOVE for direction from«Sunshine» the owner. 10. Wait staff and buffet line servers — did not wear gloves, fingers inside bowls prior to serving… 11. The garlic noodles were tasty, the crab tasted previously frozen and all seafood was flavor-less. There wasn’t any soft dinner music, champagne, wine or water available, no drawn butter, meal had to be pre-paid, chaos, misinformation and they ran out of clean dishes. The owner«Sunshine» never came out to address the patrons after the chaos ensued. Instead she was like the Wizard of Oz and remained behind the perverbial curtain. One person complained so much she was given a refund. I forgot, the women were given 1 long stem red rose! Definately very little bang for alot of buck! Thank you«The Dungeness Crab» for a very memorable V-Day but we will NOT be patronizing your establishment again or recommending it to anyone. We do wish you success in Pittsburg.

Had a great experience, found a seafood restaurant close to my house that has great garlic noodles! The food was the bomb… Their bar wasn’t open yet cause they were just getting settled in at the new spot, due to the Napa earthquake they had to relocate! But let me just say that the food will give you your own ground shaking moments! They are not afraid to use seasoning, cause there’s more than salt and pepper! They’ve moved to an building that used to be a high class restaurant so the ambiance is thru out! I recommend a trip with a date or some friends and let them serve you up some great down south soul!!! They also do private parties prices are reasonable!

My roomies brought some of this delicious food home one night and I am officially hooked on their Garlic Noodles. So a few days pass and I crave the noodles again. Ordering as takeout is pretty simple, the menu is easily accessible on their website and the food you order is ready within 20 minutes, not bad. My boo had the lowcountry rice — super delish. He got the version with the crab meat, shrimp and sausage. They were not stingy with the meat. I appreciate that. Of course I had my garlic noodle with shrimp; my craving was satisfied, but I’m sure I’ll be back for more.

One of the best seafood place here in Pittsburg! Right now they do take out but my boyfriend and I were able to dine in. Service was great! Food: Best garlic noodles I’ve had. They do put a lot of pepper so let them know if u don’t want too much! I got the shrimp garlic noodle… Sooo delish! Crab boil with corn, sausage, crab, and potatoes was soooo good! Wasn’t too much butter, a lot of pepper! Another best thing was the seafood chowder! Came with toasted bread! Definitely recommend it!
