Andrew Leo Hair Salon

I am going to start this off by saying that due to some really bad hair cuts at other places I have always been nervous to get my hair cut. My husband started going here first and said that I should try it. I am so happy that he urged me to go! I have seen almost all of the stylists at this point and have loved them all. They are patient and really listen to what I want when I go in. I always feel confident and beautiful when I walk out! Not only have they now done my cuts, they did my hair on my wedding day. Additionally, I have allergic reactions to hair color and have not colored my hair in about 15 years. When I wanted to try again they took my concerns very seriously. Sadly I discovered that I still have an allergy, but they gave me other options like highlighting so I can still blend. I don’t know what I will do if I ever have to leave PGH, but while I am here I will always go to Andrew Leo!

Absolutely love Chris! I walked into the salon three years ago and have been happy ever since. Salon is clean, friendly, and reasonably priced compared to other salons of this caliber. If you are new to the city or are looking for a new place to go 110% go to Chris.

Have gotten my hair colored, cut, and styled several times now. Johnnie does a good job coloring and cutting; however, he is wicked rough on my scalp. At these prices, getting a shampoo usually means you’re going to a salon worthy of a pampering session all around. Not here. I’ve never had such rough handling at a shampoo bowl before, anywhere, anytime. Before this last time, he wasn’t gentle, but not horrible. This time? Pulling my hair consistently, tossling my head this way and that, scrubbing the hair color off my face, wringing the water out of my hair so terribly hard — Geez, bad day (s) for ya and you’re taking it out on me? No, I did not complain. He did have scissors in his hand, after all.
Sorry, I’m gonna go elsewhere to find great quality and pampering.

I love my hair! Johnnie did an awesome job. I definitely recommend coming here for friendly service and amazing hair!

Cut and color by Autumn. When I went outside in the light, we noticed that my hair was blotched with a purplish/​pink color. Went back and Chris walked outside and saw the same result. He had someone put, I guess, a toner on it. I wasn’t told what it was. The girl who rinsed me initially said she notice it was a different color. At home, 2 weeks later, there is color left on my towel after shampooing, and the purplish/​pink was showing through again. when I called and cancelled my previously booked appt, I asked Chris (one of the owners) what was happening. He said he really couldn’t think of a thing, and that if he got an epiphany, he would call me, and that it will get better… Really? This is my hair! Spent a lot of time and money there with bad results.

After being with the same stylist for the last couple of years and a hiatus from life, I decided to take the plunge to try out Andrew Leo even though I had heavy pangs of guilt and cheating hanging on my shoulders. Andrew Leo is close to where I live and I always wondered what their service is like though never could find much information. Until, I asked a friend what she was doing one afternoon and she told me she was going to Andrew Leo and raved about how awesome her person — Chris — was. I knew it was then my opportunity to give them a try. I had Johnnie who was really friendly and funny and gets right down to business which I like, making my haircut really quick (another plus). While the whole process was seamless, it still felt personable. I loved my haircut and it smells wonderful! And then to boot, they didn’t push me to buy any product which was a relief (I will buy it when I need it!) and their prices are affordable.
Couple of notes: The location is shared with Dragonfly Pilates on the bottom floor next to Lululemon. You can pay by credit card and give tip on it too.

I absolutely love this salon. Everyone who works there does a beautiful precise cut. They actually listen to what you want and deliver the goods. I cut my long hair into an angled bob and it looks fantastic, autumn is then only hair dresser I’ve had who can make my hair look great short. The location is right in the middle of shadyside so it’s a fun place to go and get food or coffee after.

This is the only salon I go to! For years, even since I have lived outside of Pittsburgh (Philadelphia and DC), I continue to return to this trusted gem. The salon is modern and comfortable. All the stylists are talented, professional, friendly, and kind. Our bridal party, men and women, had our pre-​wedding hair done at the salon. We had the place to ourselves, they opened on Sunday for us, allowed us to use their fridge for food and beverages, and they even provided wine for the special occasion. Tea, coffee, and water are always available. My brother, who has shopped around NYC for years, from high end salons to inexpensive barber shops and everything in between said that it was the best hair cut he has ever had. I continue to go for hair cuts and styling and more recently, waxing. I know many who go for color, and the product is absolutely the best that I have ever used: Kerastase. The Kerastase hair product is worth the extra money, because it typically lasts me a few months up to a whole year depending on how much and how frequently I use it — I have very long, thick hair. I have tried many other products, but the cheaper stuff can’t even come close. Going to schedule my next appointment at Andrew Leo now…
