Mary’s African Hair Braiding

I’m assuming I called Mary on Friday in order to set up an appointment on the following Monday. I even called a few hours ahead of time in order to ensure that I do not have to wait, because that is one thing I refuse to do if I’ve scheduled an appointment four days ahead. My appointment was set for 3pm. I come in at 2:50 and immediately see at least 12 eyes staring at me in a VERY crowded space. I ask a lady, who immediately started asking me questions so I assume it’s Mary, how long the wait will be. She tells me twenty minutes. I immediately left and went on to find another place.

Nice place, affordable price, the owner mary she is very nice and friendly always smiling … she really does a great job… and she did A great job on my hair getting good compliments from people! I love it ! Thank u so much mary.

There is metered parking right next to the shop… the shop is small and you could walk right pass if your not paying attention. Its your typical hair braiding shop… nothing special. The shop has about 6 or 7 chairs. The owner, Mary, is very friendly and inviting. I called before I arrived and she answered all my questions. I was quoted $ 60 for regular cornrows with 2 colors however once I arrived I wanted some type of design in the front. I let the stylist freestyle. The final cost was $ 80, the stylist did a good job (I dont remember her name, but she was right next to Mary). I liked that she did a couple of box braids in the back to fill in the style and catch my short hair. However, I believe $ 20 for such a «simple freestyle» was alittle overpriced. It took about 2 hours. Also when I arrived I probably waited about 20 minutes before a stylist was ready… Nice! ****Side note: right when I walked in the stylist was finishing up a customer, she gave her a full head of twists down her back and it looked fabulous! I thought about getting them but since I am 7 months pregnant, I can’t stand sitting in one place for over 5 hours anymore! (Out of the 7 hair styles I saw… I loved 6.)

This is my favorite place to get my hair braided. I always love my hair. I’ve gotten my hair done twice here. I would and have recommended this place to many people when I get compliments on my braids.
