FIVESTARS for manager Tom, but other areas fall short. We’ve done a few carpet and tile replacements. Their prices aren’t on the low end but we keep going back because we’re used to working with Tom. He’s not the pushy, overly aggressive sales type and follows through nicely. Availability of our selected materials made turnaround times acceptable but quality of installers varied greatly. We had 3 different crews of installers and ONLY1 group(a couple of carpet installers) excelled. This group really listened to our needs and put forth the effort to do 100%. Another set of carpet installers scratched up most of our newly installed baseboards and seemed to be in a HUGE hurry to get the job done. Our tile installers lacked professionalism and quality workmanship. The crew lead ended up hauling away ALL excess/unused tile(which should’ve belonged to us/we had paid for) by informing us we were not allowed to keep tile(we were overwhelmed with a myriad of renovations at the time so we didn’t argue, but hindsight 20/20, who knew whether he truly returned tile to warehouse like he claimed or used it elsewhere; there was large quantity leftover and tile was of superior quality). Besides material issue, there were other problems: — they left off a piece of baseboard(we ended having to cut & nail ourselves) — I just recently discovered 2 bathroom vanity areas they left completely un-caulked — we noticed after-the-fact one installer had unintentionally loosened the screws on our dining table base by improperly dragging it and not getting help on lifting it — employees(along with another company’s contractors) made a huge mess of guest bathroom, it looked like a bathroom in a bar — thankfully we were going to replace the vanity and toilet anyways I’d have to think long and hard before using them again. I’m torn between having to weigh the pro of working with Tom vs. the cons — headache of dealing with their installers. I used Peek’s Carpet & Tile 10 yrs ago and the experiences was good. We may revisit with them on our next project.

Having recently purchased our first home, we were in need of quality carpet, with an install date of 1 – 2 weeks. Once we started looking around, we found most carpet in stock is low quality, or they don’t carry enough to carpet a larger home. As such, most carpet, anywhere you go, is «special order», and thus typically takes 2 – 4 weeks to receive. After having a bad experience at a big retailer, we decided to give Carpet One a try. I’m so glad we did! The store’s manager, Tom, was incredibly helpful and friendly. The following day, he was out to measure our house and submit our carpet order. I really like one contact when spending $ 7K plus on a purchase, and knowing that Tom is watching our order and doing his best to get it installed prior to us moving in. Although it’s true that Carpet One is more expensive than the big retailer’s we’re all familiar with, and they have less selection of «mid-range/affordable» carpet options, we found several that we really liked in our price range. And, it’s so true that you get what you pay for. Carpet One’s pricing/SF is all-inclusive, meaning you don’t have to guess the up-charges for padding, stairs, shipping, old rug removal, etc. This makes it MUCH easier to guestimate your final total. All in all, we’ve had a great experience with Carpet One, and will recommend Tom/Plano to all of our friends. We definitely feel it’s worth the extra money, so if you have some extra $$ to spare, do yourself a favor, and avoid a headache… choose Carpet One.
