Freebirds World Burrito is My #1 Favorite place to eat at here in the San Francisco Bay Area. I first discovered Freebirds a couple years ago, when I was working in San Bruno. I’d cross the San Mateo Bridge daily on my way too & from work. one day after work, I decided to have a looksee around San Mateo, and that’s when I saw Freebirds. I was Intrigued, so I parked, and went in, to just have a look around. I decided to order a Burrito that day, and it was the Best burrito I’d ever eaten. I’ve tried nearly everything on their menu. and I have No Complaints. the Food is Always Delicious, and the Service is Always great too. I’m Mad that the San Mateo store is No Longer open. but I’m Grateful there’s one in Dublin, where I work now, and there’s one in Vacaville, that I can stop at on my way too or From Reno/Tahoe if I get a Craving. I’ve Never seen the restaurant a mess. It’s Always Clean. and the Staff are Always Friendly & Helpful. I’m Not a Meat eater, so their Tempeh is Perfect for me, and it’s Oh So Hella Delish! I get it on Everything I eat, whether it be the Burrito, Nachos, Burrito Bowl, Quesadilla, Salad, or whatever. :) my Favorite Tortilla is the Cayenne Tortilla. if you’ve not tried it yet, you Must. It’s Way better than the Boring Flour tortilla. They have a Great Selection of foods you can add to whatever you are ordering. :) oh, and they give you enough portions to make sure you’re Not leaving hungry. You get your money’s worth at Freebirds. :) I Always do. But then I Always have Leftovers too. :) but these Leftovers I’m Happy to have. :)

The steak was not edible. Chewy, undercooked, and cut way too large for a handheld burrito. The«sautéed vegetables» were onions, onions, onions, with a couple peppers for color.

I just relocated from CA to Texas, and thought I would give this place a try. I got the medium sized burrito, 3 drinks, and 2PLAIN cheese quesadillas for almost $ 31.00. I could not believe, almost $ 7.00 for a plain cheese quesadilla. Seriously Freebirds, how much does a flour tortilla, and a handful of grated cheese cost you? Absolutely ridiculous!

My only experience with this place was a former colleague who would always rave about this place and the monster burrito that’s was the size of a fire log. So, my expectations were high. This place did not deliver… at all. First off, if I spend $ 11 on a salad, I expect to not be hungry when I’m done eating it. I got what was essentially a side salad. It was even smaller when I picked off all of the nasty, dried ground beef that was not edible. I’ve never seen beef like that. So unbearably dry and formed in these weird large chunks. The toppings were scant and not very fresh. The ranch dressing was awful. I’m glad I tasted it before dumping it on my salad. If you’re going to charge $ 2 for guac(which I’ll gladly pay), I expect more than a few bites. Completely underwhelming salad and experience in general. The food prep area was messy and needed a good scrub down. Highly disappointed and won’t be coming back. Save yourself a trip and go to chipotle… food issues and all, it’s still a safer/tastier bet than Freebirds.

Words cannot express how disgusting this place is. I’m not even going to compare it to Chipotle, I’m just judging it based on whether or not it’s edible and it’s not. My wife and I visited Freebirds for the first time in our lives at 7:52PM on a Thursday night and I want my money back. They should’ve had to pay us to eat there. I ordered the hybrid chicken burrito. The cilantro rice was overcooked and dry. They gave me the last remnants of the«flavored» chicken. The beans provided my burrito with more water than beans. The entire thing was cold. My wife ordered a burrito bowl. Her spanish rice was undercooked and hard as a rock. Her pinto beans were undercooked. Her white chicken was stringy and dry. Of course, hers was also cold. The employees there obviously didn’t give a damn about the food because one of them looked like he was high as a kite. My wife is an ex-cop, but even without being a cop, no one’s eyes are THAT dilated. It doesn’t matter if you think Freebird’s is better than Chipotle. If you want to eat FOOD in general, this place does not serve it.

I was craving Chipotle on the first day of 2016 only to find out they were closed. But Freebirds was open! The staff that was working was friendly and the ingredients were fresh. I also appreciate that they offer tortilla choices. Thanks for being there in my time of need! This location is much different than the one in Addison in terms of design and feel, but they satisfied my craving and for that I am thankful.

Food is always good. Choices endless. Service always friendly and on point. The drink area could generally use a little upkeep every time we come in. But overall, great service and grub.

2 stars may be too generous but tis the holiday season and I’ll spread the joy… The first employee asked my wife if she wanted to make her quesadilla into a hybrid. We stated we didn’t understand and he laughed at us like the burrito-sophisticante /snob that he apparently is… followed by a «never-mind.» We then made our order and I got the combo with the chips and guac. There were a total of 10 chips. They used to give you a huge portion(and for less money). See the attached picture. I asked about it and was told that that was the full serving. Honestly, why not just toss me a few more chips you a – hole, that way I don’t tear into you on Unilocal or something. At least these chips weren’t see through like the other Freebirds on Main St. in Frisco though. Later my son wanted to use the bathroom… Nope, turns out it’s out of commission or closed or someone was in there for 45 minutes– you wouldn’t know because there was no sign. This will be my last time back to Freebirds here or anywhere.

Food quality tastes like they took it straight from the garbage… I actually used to work here,(Rockwall, Plano, richardson, and frisco locations) and back then the food quality was a lot better.
About a year or so after I quit, I went to the Plano location to have one of my favorite bowl combinations… I was less than pleased… Took a few bites and trashed it… It used to be such a cool and tasty place to eat but not anymore, plus I think most of their food isn’t as healthy as advertised…

Not what it used to be, and I hope they fix it. Best way I can think to describe the food is that it tasted mushy. The men’s restroom was dirty, broken and smelled.

Freebirds has been hyped by just about every person I know. I have been waiting for the moment to try it and that moment has come. First off there pricing is a bit crazy for me. The portions are about on par with Chipotle but around $ 3-$ 5 more. I appreciate the selection of sauces, tortillas, and the refried beans however, the real star of Chipotle for me is the Guacamole and Roasted Corn Salsa. Freebirds Guacamole was decent and there is no roasted corn salsa to add some brightness to a burrito. The meat wasn’t as fatty as Chipotle but other than that is really didn’t live up to the hype. The Queso was the star of the show for me. If Chipotle was next door to Freebirds I’d go to Chipotle without question. For the higher price and all the hype I was let down. Don’t get me wrong the food here is good but its not good enough to knockout the established fast Burrito king Chipotle and the scrappy little competitor Q’Doba(which is also better than Freebirds.). Edit: I just reheated some for a late night snack and its not edible. The amount of salt is putrid. One of the best things about Chipotle is the late night snacks. This is a huge let down. I probably won’t eat here again.

The days when I don’t care about how many calories I eat, I go get a monster burrito or a bowl of nachos. Freebird is delicious and filling, and +1 for loyalty program!

Ive been to many freebirds including the College Station locations and this one is no where near as good. I tried this location because its near where I live now but it has failed several times. Each time the burrito is very undersized and poorly wrapped. This last visit the rice and beans were not fully cooked, and as you would have guessed. the burrito was undersized and poorly made. This was my final attempt, guess I will make the drive into Dallas to a better Freebirds location.

Great burritos… And the best part is the roasted garlic. Their website has all the nutritional info, so you can actually get something pretty healthy if you fill the burrito right.

It’s the small thoughtful details that differentiate this place from other built to taste Mexican joints: 1) tortilla choices: four different types and flavors. The cayenne is good — just enough spice to give your food an extra kick 2) they actually mix your burrito! Prevents your guacamole from taking over only one small portion of your meal. Expand or die, guacamole! Manifest destiny, you can’t stop it and neither can I! Food was flavorful, but guacamole was $ 1.75 extra bring my burrito to $ 10. I can buy an entire avocado for less than $ 1.75. That’s a total rip off.

Even though they have more options for tortilla flavors for your burrito, I think I like Chipotle a lot better. Ordering process is similiar to Chipotle – you choose whether you want a burrito, a bowl, or salad — choose your meat(chicken, steak, or pork) — then select your toppings of beans(refried or black), grilled onions/veggies, lettuce, etc. Sour cream is $ 1 extra?! Their mild or hot salsas have no difference in taste except for the color. Most Freebirds that I have been to have usually been staffed by teenagers. I’ve yet to see a manager on duty. And so… their friends are always hanging out(distraction) and/or they just don’t care to provide much service or quality of preparing your food. Blah.

We decided to give this place a try. Checked the website and everything looked so good. Got there and got food for the family. Let me summarize our experience. This place is disgusting. Don’t waste your time or money.
